BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a surface light source used for an illumination light source or the like of a liquid crystal display device.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, as a surface light source used for an illumination light source of a liquid crystal display device, an incident end face is provided at one end, and a light guide plate that guides light incident from the incident end face and exits from the front face is opposed to the incident end face. Thus, a configuration in which a cold cathode tube having a length over the entire length of the incident end face of the light guide plate is widely used.
[0003]
However, the surface light source can emit light having a uniform luminance distribution from the front surface of the light guide plate by allowing the light emitted from the cold-cathode tube to enter the light guide plate from the entire area of the incident end surface. On the other hand, since the cold cathode tube has a short life, the cold cathode tube has to be frequently replaced, and thus the maintenance cost increases.
[0004]
Therefore, in recent years, a surface light source including a solid light emitting element such as an LED (light emitting diode) has been used instead of the cold cathode tube.
[0005]
FIG. 13 is a perspective view of a conventional surface light source including a solid light emitting element. Here, one solid light emitting element 2 is arranged to face the central portion in the length direction of the incident end face 1 a of the light guide plate 1. Shows things.
[0006]
In this surface light source, since the lifetime of the solid-state light emitting element 4 is semi-permanent, the light emitting element 4 hardly needs to be replaced, and thus the maintenance cost can be reduced.
[0007]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the conventional surface light source shown in FIG. 13, the light incident on the light guide plate 1 is emitted from the solid state light emitting device 2 arranged so as to face the central portion of the incident end surface 1a of the light guide plate 1 in the length direction. Since it is an emitted light, the light incident from the incident end face 1a does not spread evenly over the entire area of the light guide plate 1, and therefore, the region of FIG. The luminance of the emitted light from is low, and the emitted light having a uniform luminance distribution cannot be obtained.
[0008]
If the number of the solid-state light emitting elements 4 is increased and the light emitting elements 4 are arranged at close intervals along the length direction of the incident end face 1a of the light guide plate 1, the entire area of the incident end face 1a is disposed on the light guide plate 1. However, if the number of light emitting elements is increased, the cost increases and the power consumption increases.
[0009]
An object of the present invention is to provide a surface light source including a solid light-emitting element that can emit light having a uniform luminance distribution with a small number of light-emitting elements.
[0010]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In the surface light source of the present invention, a plurality of bending reflection surfaces or bending refracting surfaces that bend in a wave shape along one direction are formed on one surface of the front and back surfaces, and the plurality of the plurality of bending reflection surfaces or bending refraction surfaces from the direction intersecting the one direction are formed. A light redirecting member that refracts or reflects light incident on the bent reflecting surface or the bent refracting surface toward the other surface from the bent reflecting surface or the bent refracting surface, and emits the light from the other surface; It is arranged on one end side in a direction intersecting the one direction of the deflecting member, and is composed of at least one solid-state light emitting element that emits light toward the light redirecting member.
[0011]
According to this surface light source, the emitted light from the solid state light emitting element is diffused by a plurality of bent reflecting surfaces or bent refracting surfaces formed on one surface of the light redirecting member, and the other of the light redirecting members. Since the light is refracted or reflected toward the surface and the light is emitted from the other surface of the light redirecting member, light with uniform luminance can be emitted with a small number of light emitting elements.
[0012]
As described above, the surface light source of the present invention includes a light redirecting member in which a plurality of horizontally long bending reflection surfaces or bending refracting surfaces bent in a wave shape are formed on one surface of the front and rear surfaces, and the one direction. And at least one solid-state light emitting element that emits light toward the light diverting member, and emits light from the solid light emitting element to the light diverting member. Less light emission by diffusing or reflecting by a plurality of bent reflecting surfaces or bent refracting surfaces to be refracted or reflected toward the other surface of the light redirecting member and emitting the light from the other surface of the light redirecting member The light having a uniform luminance distribution can be emitted by the number of elements.
[0013]
In the surface light source according to the present invention, the light redirecting member includes, for example, a plurality of bent prism portions bent in a wave shape along one direction on one surface of the front and rear surfaces, and both side surfaces of these bent prism portions. Of these, one side surface facing the arrangement side of the solid state light emitting element is a bent incident surface on which the outgoing light from the solid state light emitting element is incident, and the other side surface receives light incident from the bent incident surface on the other side. A prism sheet having a bending refracting surface that refracts toward the surface is preferable. In this case, the solid-state light emitting element emits light in a direction along the surface of the prism sheet where the bending prism portion is formed. Should be arranged.
[0014]
When the prism sheet is used as a light redirecting member in this way, the prism sheet has an incident end surface at one end on the surface on which the bent prism portion is formed, and guides light incident from the incident end surface. More preferably, a light guide plate that emits light from a surface facing the sheet is disposed, and the solid-state light emitting element is disposed to face the incident end surface of the light guide plate.
[0015]
The light redirecting member has an incident end surface at one end, and a plurality of bending grooves bent in a wave shape along one direction are formed on one surface of the front and rear surfaces. Among them, the direction light guide plate in which one side surface facing the incident end surface side is a bent reflection surface that reflects light incident from the incident end surface toward the other surface may be used. May be disposed so as to face the incident end face of the deflecting light guide plate.

【The invention's effect】
In the surface light source of the present invention, a plurality of bending reflection surfaces or bending refracting surfaces that bend in a wave shape along one direction are formed on one surface of the front and rear surfaces, and the plurality of the plurality of bending reflection surfaces or bending refraction surfaces from the direction intersecting the one direction A light redirecting member that refracts or reflects light incident on the bent reflecting surface or the bent refracting surface toward the other surface from the bent reflecting surface or the bent refracting surface, and emits the light from the other surface; The number of light emitting elements is small because it is arranged on one end side in a direction intersecting with the one direction of the deflecting member and is composed of at least one solid light emitting element that emits light toward the light redirecting member. Can emit light of uniform brightness.
[0084]
By disposing in this manner, light with uniform luminance can be emitted with a small number of light emitting elements.
[0085]
When the prism sheet is used as a light redirecting member in this way, the prism sheet has an incident end surface at one end on the surface on which the bent prism portion is formed, and guides light incident from the incident end surface. It is more preferable to dispose a light guide plate that emits from a surface facing the sheet, and to dispose the solid light emitting element to face an incident end surface of the light guide plate. The emitted light can be efficiently incident on the plurality of bent prism portions of the prism sheet, and the high-luminance light can be emitted from the front surface of the prism sheet.
[0086]
The light redirecting member has an incident end surface at one end, and a plurality of bending grooves bent in a wave shape along one direction are formed on one surface of the front and rear surfaces. Among them, the direction light guide plate in which one side surface facing the incident end surface side is a bent reflection surface that reflects light incident from the incident end surface toward the other surface may be used. Is arranged so as to face the incident end face of the direction-changing light guide plate, so that light with uniform luminance can be emitted with a small number of light-emitting elements.
