Description
【0001】

(A)=(210*s+64*(s−1))/320 ・・・(式7)
【0068】
<変形例>

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a sheet post-processing apparatus that performs post-processing of a sheet carried out of an image forming apparatus, for example, a sheet on which an image is formed by the image forming apparatus.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In recent years, in the field of image forming apparatuses such as copiers and printers, in response to the increasing demands of users, not only forms and outputs images on paper, but also, for example, paper on which images are formed. A post-processing device (hereinafter referred to as “staple processing”) or a bookbinding process using a staple (hereinafter referred to as “staple processing”). The “paper post-processing device”) is pointed out as an option for a device that performs post-processing of the paper.
[0003]
When punching is performed with a conventional paper post-processing device, the edge of the paper is positioned by forming a resist loop at the nip portion of the roller for each of the papers on which images are formed and conveyed. After the positioning was completed, it was necessary to transport the paper by a predetermined amount and punch holes by the punch unit. This is to prevent deterioration in post-processing quality such as punch hole misalignment.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
By the way, in recent years, there has been a very high demand for image formation productivity (number of images formed per hour) in an image forming apparatus. Improvement in the number of images) is required. In particular, post-processing that needs to be completed before the next paper is conveyed, such as the punching process described above, realizes productivity sufficient for improving the productivity of image formation even on the paper post-processing device side. Otherwise, it will be difficult to achieve high productivity as a whole.
[0005]
However, the conventional paper post-processing apparatus as described above has a limit in improving the productivity of punch processing. In order to perform the punching process without deteriorating the post-processing quality of the sheet, each of the operations of starting the unloading of the sheet after the punching process from the punching unit and then loading the next sheet into the punching unit is performed. Therefore, it is necessary to perform the processing for the paper, and therefore, only the time corresponding to (the time required for the paper positioning in the punch processing unit) + (the time required for the punch processing) among all the papers carried into the punch processing unit is required. This is because it is necessary to take a sheet interval. Here, in order to improve the productivity of punch processing, it is conceivable to speed up the punch processing operation itself. However, if the punch processing operation is to be performed at a high speed, the punch unit becomes large and noise is generated. The occurrence of problems such as deterioration in post-processing quality such as variations in punch hole positions is expected, and it is difficult to say that this is a preferable measure.
[0006]
The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and provides a paper post-processing apparatus capable of improving the productivity of punch processing without causing deterioration of paper post-processing quality. It is an object.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, a sheet post-processing apparatus according to the present invention is a sheet post-processing apparatus that performs post-processing on a sheet unloaded from an image forming apparatus, and a post-processing unit that performs post-processing on the sheet; A stacking unit that is provided at a position different from the post-processing unit and stacks the plurality of sheets continuously carried out from the image forming apparatus so that at least one end of the plurality of sheets is substantially aligned; An unloading means for unloading the plurality of sheets superimposed by the aligning means from the position of the overlapping means to the position of the post-processing means in a state where the positions of the plurality of sheets are aligned. It is a feature.
[0008]
According to this configuration, since a plurality of sheets can be conveyed to the position of the post-processing means in a state where the positions of their end portions are aligned and overlapped, for example, in the punch processing section as the post-processing means, Punch processing can be performed simultaneously on a plurality of sheets without degrading the sheet post-processing quality. As a result, the productivity of the punching process can be improved, and since it is not necessary to provide a conventional paper gap between all the sheets on the image forming apparatus side, the productivity of the image formation can be improved. Will also contribute.
[0009]
Note that, as one specific method for aligning a plurality of sheets, the superimposing unit sequentially aligns the plurality of sheets carried out from the image forming apparatus while aligning the positions of the upstream ends in the sheet traveling direction. A stacking unit for stacking, and the unloading unit is capable of being pressed and separated from a determination unit that determines whether or not a predetermined number of sheets have been loaded on the mounting unit. A pair of carry-out rollers for carrying out a plurality of papers placed on the placement unit by being rotated in a state from the placement unit in a state where the upstream end position of the paper in the paper traveling direction is aligned. It is conceivable to include an unloading roller pair control unit that presses and rotates the unloading roller pair when the determining unit determines that a predetermined number of sheets have been placed.
[0010]
Here, when aligning a predetermined number of sheets, there is a problem of how to process the last sheet that does not reach the predetermined number. That is, even if no more sheets are unloaded from the image forming apparatus, waiting for the sheet unloading process for a time corresponding to the predetermined number of sheets results in a decrease in processing efficiency. For this reason, for example, the determination unit further determines whether or not the next sheet is carried out from the image forming apparatus, and the carry-out roller pair control unit determines that a predetermined number of sheets are placed on the placement unit by the determination unit. If it is determined that the next sheet is not loaded, and it is determined that the next sheet is not carried out from the image forming apparatus, the carry-out roller pair is moved immediately before the carry-out roller pair. The processing efficiency can be improved by pressing and rotating after a predetermined time has elapsed since the driving.
[0011]
The predetermined number of sheets is theoretically not particularly limited, and varies depending on the pressure of the carry-out roller used for carrying out the paper from the position of alignment by the overlapping means, the processing capability of the punch processing unit, etc. Since there is no denying the possibility of causing a decrease in alignment accuracy as the number of sheets increases, it is considered appropriate to set the number of sheets to be aligned at one time to about two. In other words, when one sheet remains at the end, an odd number of sheets are post-processed by unloading the last sheet after a lapse of a predetermined time from the unloading of the last two sheets. Can be made more efficient. However, in an environment where it is possible to process three sheets at the same time, even if processing is usually performed with two sheets stacked, the last process is to stack three sheets including the remaining one. May be.
[0012]
The placement unit is a member installed to be inclined so as to be lower toward the upstream end in the paper traveling direction, and a paper placement member on which the plurality of papers are placed, and the paper The upstream ends of the plurality of sheets placed on the placement member have contact surfaces that contact each other, and the contact surfaces are substantially perpendicular to the placement direction of the plurality of sheets. Thus, it is preferable to include an alignment member configured to align the upstream ends of the plurality of sheets in the traveling direction. In this case, since the alignment by the alignment member is performed by the dead weight of each sheet, it is not necessary to provide a complicated mechanism for alignment in particular.
[0013]
Here, the carry-out roller pair includes a plurality of sets of roller pairs arranged in the sheet conveyance direction, and the carry-out roller pair control unit is configured to press the plurality of sets of roller pairs at substantially the same timing, and By controlling to rotate, it is possible to cope with a large paper size. This is because, when the paper is large, all the roller pairs in the plurality of sets are pressed and separated, and when the paper is small, only a part of the roller pairs are pressed and separated.
[0014]
In addition, it is preferable that the placement unit further includes an alignment unit that aligns the positions of the sheet side portions of the plurality of sheets. Specifically, for example, the alignment can be performed by providing an alignment plate on the side of the paper, but the alignment means is not limited to a plate-like member.
Further, the overlaying unit may further include an alignment assisting unit that promotes the alignment of the upstream end in the sheet traveling direction. Specifically, as will be described later, a roller with a paddle is installed so that the surface of each sheet placed on the loading unit faces the upstream side in the sheet traveling direction. can do. Of course, as the alignment assisting means, it is also conceivable to provide means for applying vibration to the mounting portion.
[0015]
As another specific method for aligning a plurality of sheets, the superimposing unit is configured so that the plurality of sheets unloaded from the image forming apparatus are in a traveling direction downstream end of the plurality of sheets. By forming a registration loop at the nip portion, a registration roller pair that aligns the downstream ends of the plurality of sheets in the advancing direction and a roller pair that can be pressed and separated, and between the separated roller pair In a state in which the sheets carried out from the image forming apparatus are stacked, a predetermined amount of rotational driving is performed by pressure contact between the pair of alignment rollers that form the registration loop and the pair of alignment rollers that are separated from each other. A determination unit that determines whether or not a predetermined number of sheets have been stacked on the sheet, and the alignment roller when the determination unit determines that a predetermined number of sheets have been stacked And a first alignment roller pair control unit that performs a predetermined amount of rotational drive, and the unloading means performs alignment by forming a registration loop by rotating the alignment roller pair by a predetermined amount. Is completed, by rotating the registration roller pair, a plurality of sheets are controlled so that they are carried out in a state where the downstream ends of the plurality of sheets are aligned in the traveling direction; and It is also conceivable to include a second alignment roller pair control unit that separates the alignment roller pair in synchronization with the start of rotational driving of the registration roller pair.
[0016]
Even when this configuration is used, it is considered appropriate that the number of sheets to be aligned at a time is about two. Therefore, for the same reason as described above, the determination unit further includes the following from the image forming apparatus. The first alignment roller pair control unit determines whether or not a predetermined number of sheets are stacked between the separated alignment roller pairs by the determination unit. If it is determined that the next sheet is not unloaded from the image forming apparatus, the alignment roller pair is moved for a predetermined time from the unloading of the immediately preceding sheet by the unloading unit. After the elapse of time, the pressure contact and rotation are driven, and the carry-out means carries out the paper after a predetermined time has elapsed after the pressure contact of the alignment roller pair, thereby improving the efficiency of processing an odd number of sheets. Is possible That.
[0017]
The paper post-processing apparatus further includes a carry-in roller pair for carrying the paper carried out from the image forming apparatus between the spaced-apart alignment roller pairs, and the registration roller pair is provided with the carry-in roller pair. It is preferable to be installed at a position lower than the position. This is because each sheet moves to the nip portion of the registration roller by its own weight, and it is not necessary to provide a complicated mechanism for introducing the sheet to a position where alignment is performed.
[0018]
When the paper size is large, the pair of carry-in rollers can be pressed and separated, and the paper post-processing device further receives information on the size of the paper to be carried out from the image forming apparatus. And a receiving means that controls the press-in contact of the pair of carry-in rollers and carry-in of the paper by the pair of carry-in rollers when the size of the paper unloaded from the image forming apparatus is a predetermined size or less. In the case where the size of the sheet to be carried out exceeds a predetermined size, it is possible to cope with this by including a carry-in roller pair control unit that separates the carry-in roller pair.

By performing the processing as described above, it is possible to simultaneously perform punch processing on a plurality of sheets in a state where their positions are aligned, so that productivity of punch processing can be improved without deteriorating paper post-processing quality. It becomes possible to improve. On the other hand, on the side of the image forming apparatus, it is not necessary to place a paper interval between paper sheets as in the prior art, so that productivity of image formation can be improved and productivity of image formation can be improved. If maintained in the same manner, the so-called system speed can be reduced, so that an energy saving effect such as reduction of power consumption can be obtained.

[0057]
(Consideration on productivity of paper post-processing)
The embodiment of the present invention has been described above. Here, some consideration will be given to the improvement of productivity by the sheet post-processing apparatus of the present invention.
For example, when the time required for the paper positioning and punching process in the
[0058]
320 * 0.2 = 64 (Formula 1)
If punching is performed one by one as in the conventional paper post-processing apparatus, it is necessary to provide a 64 mm gap between all the sheets on the image forming apparatus side. When the sheet is used in the horizontal orientation (the length in the sheet traveling direction is 210 mm), the number of processed sheets per minute is 70 sheets according to the following (Equation 2). This is based on the processing capability of the
[0059]
320 * 60 / (210 + 64) ≈70 (Expression 2)
Next, considering the case where the punching process is performed by stacking two sheets of paper, it is the same as the conventional one in that the
[0060]
64/320 = 0.2 (Formula 3)
(210 * 2) /320≈1.3 (Expression 4)
Accordingly, on the premise that the sheet interval between all sheets is constant on the image forming apparatus side, it is sufficient to have a sheet interval corresponding to the time required for alignment in the sheet stacking
[0061]
0.1 * 320 = 32 (Formula 5)
320 * 60 / (210 + 32) ≈79 (Expression 6)
Based on the above considerations, Table 1 shows a summary of productivity improvements by using the paper post-processing apparatus of the present invention. In the following (Table 1), (A) is the time required for image formation for each number of processed sheets when processing sheets one by one with an A4 size sheet placed horizontally as in the prior art with a sheet interval of 64 mm, ( B) is a time required for image formation when the sheet interval is set to 32 mm and post-processing is performed two by two. Note that (C) will be described later.
[0062]
[Table 1]
[0063]
Here, the basis for calculating the required time in the above (Table 1) will be described. First, the numerical value of (A) is obtained by the following (Formula 7). In the equation, the number of processed sheets is represented by s.
(A) = (210 * s + 64 * (s−1)) / 320 (Expression 7)
Further, the numerical value of (B) is obtained by the following (Equation 8) when s is an even number. In the case of (B), even when the number of processed sheets is an odd number, it is assumed that the timing of carrying out the sheet from the sheet stacking
[0064]
As shown in (A) and (B) of (Table 1) above, when the number of processed sheets is one, three, five, or seven, the phenomenon that the time required by the conventional method becomes longer is shown. Has been. In this case, even when one sheet remains at the end in the case of processing two sheets, it takes time to wait for the next sheet that does not actually exist before the last sheet is unloaded. Therefore, the required time can be shortened by a method as described below.
[0065]
That is, when the last sheet remains, specifically, when there are no sheets in the
[0066]
(64−32) /320=0.1 (Expression 9)
The meaning of (Equation 9) is as follows. That is, it is necessary to secure a sheet interval of 64 mm in the
[0067]
In the above (Equation 10), 0.1 seconds added at the end is the stop time in the last sheet
[0068]
<Modification>
Although various embodiments of the present invention have been described above, it is a matter of course that the content of the present invention is not limited to the specific examples shown in the above embodiments. For example, the following modifications are possible. Can think.
(1) That is, as described in the first embodiment, by providing a paddle on the upper portion of the
[0069]
(2) In the above embodiment, the processing is performed with two sheets stacked, but the number of sheets stacked is not limited to this.
(3) In the above embodiment, the sheet stacking process is not performed when the punching process is not instructed. However, the sheet stacking process is performed when only the staple process is performed, for example. However, there is no problem.
[0070]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the sheet post-processing apparatus according to the present invention, a plurality of sheets that are provided at different positions from the post-processing unit that performs post-processing on the sheet and are continuously carried out from the image forming apparatus, A stacking unit that stacks the plurality of sheets so that at least one end of the plurality of sheets is substantially aligned, and the plurality of sheets stacked by the stacking unit in a state where the plurality of sheets are aligned, Since it includes unloading means for unloading from the position of the superimposing means to the position of the post-processing means, for example, in the punch processing section provided as the post-processing means, the plurality of sheets are punched at a time. Therefore, it is possible to increase the productivity of punch processing while preventing deterioration of post-processing quality caused by increasing the speed of the punch processing operation itself. It is.
