Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates generally to energy absorbers and, more particularly, to energy absorbers for rail vehicles.
[0002]
[Prior art]
According to the prior art, weak or light impacts, in particular on the front of a railway vehicle, are absorbed by a bumper attached to an absorbing element or coupler.
[0003]
Such an impact can be absorbed even by a shock absorber having a small amount of movement in the impact direction.
[0004]
In order to absorb larger impacts, the energy absorber must necessarily be able to move more.
[0005]
Prior art solutions consist of using a deformable box structure or caisson.
[0006]
These deformable box structures of the prior art have the major drawback that they cannot be placed in the front of the vehicle because these box structures can cause the vehicle to be too long.
[0007]
A known solution to this technical problem consists of incorporating these deformable box structures under the chassis cab.
[0008]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
A major disadvantage of this solution is that the deformation of the prior art deformable box structure causes a deformation of the cab and thus, for example, some deformation of the windshield and the cab.
[0009]
Therefore, the driver in the driver's cab may be injured at the time of impact on the front of the vehicle.
[0010]
Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide an energy absorber comprising such an energy absorber that does not have the disadvantages of prior art energy absorbers.
[0011]
Another object of the present invention is to provide an energy absorbing device capable of keeping the driver's living space intact even after a frontal or slightly oblique collision.
[0012]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
According to the present invention, the energy absorbing device has a substantially parallelepiped shape that can be inserted between the cab and the vehicle body.
[0013]
The large opposing surfaces of the parallelepiped are arranged on a surface formed on the back surface of the cab and a surface formed on the front surface of the vehicle body.
[0014]
The energy absorbing device of the present invention also has at least one of the following features.
[0015]
・ The equipment is
A first flat plate ring and a second flat plate ring facing each other without contact;
A swivel element attached to the top of the first flat plate ring and the second flat plate ring and defining a radial swivel axis XX at the top of the cab;

-The driver's cab chassis is equipped with a front shock absorber at the front that can cushion light impacts.
[0016]
According to another characteristic of the invention, in particular a railway vehicle comprises an energy absorbing device according to the invention.
