Description
The present invention relates to a hydrogen purification apparatus for purifying a mixed gas containing hydrogen and a fuel cell having a hydrogen purification function.
A fuel cell generates electricity by an electrochemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen. Hydrogen supplied to the fuel cell is generated by, for example, a reforming reaction of a hydrocarbon-based raw material. In the reforming reaction, reformed gas containing impurities such as carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide in addition to hydrogen is generated. In order to operate the fuel cell efficiently and stably, it is desired to remove impurities from the reformed gas and purify hydrogen.
About the above-mentioned structure, the room for improvement was left from the viewpoint of the further simplification and size reduction. An object of the present invention is to simplify and miniaturize the structure of a hydrogen purifier.
The hydrogen purification apparatus of the present invention includes a first flow path plate, a second flow path plate, and a hydrogen separation membrane interposed between both flow path plates. The first flow path plate forms a flow path for supplying a mixed gas containing hydrogen. The second flow path plate forms a flow path for extracting purified hydrogen from the mixed gas. The hydrogen separation membrane is a membrane that selectively permeates hydrogen, and can be composed of, for example, a noble metal such as palladium, a VB group element such as vanadium, and alloys thereof. At least one of the first flow path plate and the second flow path plate (hereinafter collectively referred to as “flow path plate”) has a hydrogen separation membrane at an interval at which the hydrogen separation membrane can be supported at the contact portion with the hydrogen separation membrane. It has a communicating hole which lets pass.
By applying such a structure, the hydrogen separation membrane can be supported by the flow path plate. Accordingly, since at least a part of the reinforcing plate for supporting the hydrogen separation membrane is not required, the structure can be simplified and the apparatus can be downsized.
In the present invention, an electrolyte membrane may be formed on the hydrogen separation membrane. The second flow path plate forms a flow path for supplying oxidizing gas. The electrolyte membrane is disposed closer to the oxidizing gas than the hydrogen separation membrane. By doing so, it is possible to configure a fuel cell that generates power by an electrochemical reaction with an oxidizing gas while purifying hydrogen in the mixed gas. Since such a fuel cell also exerts a hydrogen purification action, in the following description, it is assumed that it is included in a hydrogen purification apparatus in a broad sense unless otherwise specified.
When configured as a fuel cell, the hydrogen separation membrane and the electrolyte membrane can be formed of various materials. For example, a VB group element such as vanadium, niobium, and tantalum, palladium, and an alloy containing at least a part thereof can be used as the hydrogen separation membrane, and examples of the electrolyte membrane include BaCeO 3 and SrCeO 3 based ceramics. Inorganic substances such as proton conductors can be used. By forming the electrolyte layer on the hydrogen separation membrane, the thickness can be reduced to about 0.1 to 1 μm, and the internal resistance in the electrolyte layer can be reduced.
When configured as a fuel cell, the first flow path plate and the second flow path plate may be formed of a conductive material, and may have a structure that also serves as an electrode by insulating the flow path plates. In this way, the structure can be further simplified.
In the hydrogen purifying apparatus of the present invention, regardless of whether or not the fuel cell is configured, a portion of the hydrogen separation membrane that is not supported by the bottom surface of the second flow path plate has a reinforcing plate having a communication hole through which hydrogen passes. You may make it support by. In the hydrogen purifier, since a part of the mixed gas permeates the hydrogen extraction flow path, the pressure of the mixed gas is higher than that of the permeated hydrogen, and this part is not supported by the bottom surface of the second flow path plate. The hydrogen separation membrane may be bent due to the pressure difference. By providing the reinforcing plate, it is possible to suppress damage to the hydrogen separation membrane due to such bending.
In the present invention, the flow path plate can be formed by various methods such as etching of a thick plate material, and a thin plate is formed in a shape in which the right side wall, the bottom surface, and the left side wall of the flow path continuously appear so as to form a plurality of flow paths. May be formed by bending. In this case, the communication hole is provided at least on the bottom surface. The use of a thin plate has an advantage that a communication hole is easily provided and processing is easy. Mixing / diffusion of gas between a plurality of flow paths may be achieved by providing holes in the right side wall and the left side wall (hereinafter collectively referred to as “side walls”).
When the flow path plate is formed by bending a thin plate, a shape in which the upper surface appears between the right side wall and the left side wall, in other words, a continuous rectangular wave cross-sectional shape is provided so as to provide a gap between the multiple flow paths. May be. In this case, holes may be provided on the upper surface at predetermined intervals. By doing so, the heat capacity of the flow path plate can be reduced, and warming up of the hydrogen purifier can be facilitated. In addition, the thermal expansion coefficient can be reduced, and peeling due to the difference in thermal expansion coefficient between the flow path plate and the hydrogen separation membrane can be suppressed.
In the present invention, members having the same shape may be applied to both the first flow path plate and the second flow path plate. In this case, for example, the first flow path plate, the first hydrogen separation membrane, the second flow path plate, the reinforcement plate, and the second hydrogen separation membrane are used as a unit by using a reinforcement plate having a communication hole through which hydrogen passes. A laminated structure may be adopted. By adopting such a laminated structure, a small hydrogen purifier can be realized with a relatively simple structure.

FIG. 1 is an explanatory diagram showing a schematic configuration of a fuel cell system as an embodiment. The
A gas generated by reforming (hereinafter referred to as “reformed gas”) contains impurities such as carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide in addition to hydrogen. The
FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of the
On the hydrogen separation membrane 106 [0], a channel plate 104 [1], a reinforcing plate 105 [1], and a hydrogen separation membrane 106 [1] for forming a separated hydrogen channel are laminated. The The reinforcing plate 105 [1] is a metal plate made of a SUS material for supporting the hydrogen separation membrane 106 [1], and is provided with a communication hole for allowing gas to pass therethrough. The channel plate 104 [1] is provided with a
The reinforcing
B. Manufacturing process:
FIG. 3 is a process diagram showing a method for manufacturing a hydrogen purifier. First, a
Next, a part of the plate material is etched to form a flow path (step S12). In addition to etching, mechanical cutting may be used. Thereafter, as shown by a broken line in the figure, a communication hole is formed (step S14), and the
In the hydrogen purification apparatus described above, by providing the communication hole on the bottom surface of the
C. First modification:
FIG. 4 is an explanatory view showing a cross-sectional configuration of a
Similarly, the

D. Second modification:
FIG. 5 is an explanatory diagram showing a cross-sectional configuration of a
In the second modification, the
According to the second modified example, in addition to the effects described in the embodiment and the first modified example, there is an advantage that the cross-sectional area of the flow path can be secured and the device can be further downsized. .
