Description
【0001】

As another configuration of the first roller, a heat ray permeable rubber layer made of silicon rubber mixed with a metal oxide powder such as silica, alumina, magnesium oxide as a filler is formed outside the roller core as described above. In addition, a heat ray absorbing layer containing powders of carbon black, graphite, iron black, various ferrites and their compounds, copper oxide, cobalt oxide, bengara, etc., and a fluorine resin paint that serves as a binder and release agent are mixed. The degree of freedom of design related to the configuration of the first roller (fixing roller) is wide, for example, an integrated heat ray absorbing layer formed integrally with the released release layer may be formed.

FIG. 5 is a schematic diagram showing a state in which the first temperature control roller is pressure-bonded to the first roller, and FIG. 6 is a diagram in which the second temperature control roller is pressure-bonded to the first roller. It is a schematic diagram which shows the state which exists.

In the figure, 305 is a first roller (fixing roller), and 315 is a second roller.
[0057]
Each of the first and second temperature control rollers can be brought into contact with the surface of the
[0058]
Predetermined pressure bonding can be achieved by providing fulcrum points on both side plates (not shown) for holding the shafts of both rollers and rotating the side plates by a reversible motor.

[0075]
With these configurations, the steep temperature difference that has conventionally occurred at the boundary between the sheet passing area and the non-sheet passing area on the surface of the first roller can be controlled by the temperature control roller, so that the fixing process for a large number of small-sized sheets can be continued. Even when a large-size sheet is fixed, it is possible to suppress the difference in glossiness at the boundary as much as possible.

Thus, in the embodiment, there are two pressure-bonding modes for the temperature control roller to the

In the embodiment, when the maximum size sheet is subjected to the fixing process, the temperature control roller is retracted to the pressure release position as in the preheating.

Although temperature control was not mentioned, the temperature control of the first roller is performed by arranging a temperature detection element in the vicinity of the surface of the first roller corresponding to the passage area of the small size paper and outputting the temperature detection element. A known method of turning on / off the power supply to the heating source according to information can be applied.

【The invention's effect】
Due to the extremely simple configuration, even if a large number of small-size transfer materials are continuously fixed, the temperature difference between the paper passing area and the non-paper passing area on the fixing roller can be suppressed. Even when a large-size sheet is continuously used, it is possible to perform a stable fixing process with almost no difference in glossiness of the toner image at the boundary between the two areas.
