本発明は、上記目的を達成するため、シリンダブロックとチェーンケースとシリンダヘッドの三面合わせ部を含む接合シールに用いられる金属ガスケットであって、前記金属ガスケットのチェーン用開口の内周縁に弾性シール部材が装着されており、前記弾性シール部材のうち、前記三面合わせ部に配置される部分では、ガスケットの金属部分と共に弾性シール部材をシール軌跡が外側に向くように膨らませ、その膨らませ部分で作られた空所部を液状ガスケット剤の貯留部とし、該貯留部に貯留された液状ガスケット剤により前記三面合せ部をシールすることを特徴とする金属ガスケットを要旨としている。

【発明の実施の形態】
本発明の好ましい実施の形態としては、図1〜図4に示すように、チェーン駆動のエンジンに配設される金属ガスケットAにおいて、金属ガスケットAのチェーン用開口4の内周縁に弾性シール部材7を装着し、前記弾性シール部材7のうち、シリンダブロック1とチェーンケース2とシリンダヘッドの三面合わせ部に配置される部分では、ガスケットの金属部分と共に弾性シール部材7をシール軌跡が外側に向くように膨らませ、その膨らませ部分7aで作られた空所部8を液状ガスケット剤の貯留部として構成する。

即ち、Aは金属ガスケットであり、この金属ガスケットAのチェーン用開口4の内周縁に断面円形のゴム製弾性シール部材7が挟み込みで装着されている。図2は、図1のY1−Y1線で切断した弾性シール部材7を示したものである。

図3〔II〕は、前記テーパー部を台形形状、 図3〔III〕は、前記テーパー部をテーパー付き台形形状としたもののほかに他のテーパー形状としてもよい。
図3〔I〕〜〔III〕の構造は、図2の構造と比較すると、金属ガスケットの板厚まで圧縮することができる。
なお、前記弾性シール部材は断面円形のものに限らず、例えば断面角形のものであってもよく、上記のシール機能が得られるものであれば、他の断面形状を有するものを任意に選択使用することができる。
また、弾性シール部材の材質はゴム材に限定されず、ゴム状弾性を有するものであれば、他の材質のものを任意に選択使用できる。
上記金属ガスケットは、1枚の金属板でなく、耐熱性の薄板を積層したものであってもよい。
また、上記金属ガスケットは、その構造に特別な制限はなく、例えばチェーンケースの上面に重ね合わされる部分を別個に作り、これをシリンダブロックの上面に重ね合わされる金属ガスケットに結合させた構造にしてもよい。
