Description
図20は、本発明の好適な第の実施の形態による過度なカラー変化を防止するためのPDPの駆動装置の一例を示す。同図を参照すると、本発明の第2の実施の形態によるPDP駆動装置は、フレームメモリ39、動き検出部41、最小分布下位/上位グレーレベル35、グレーレベル再配列部43、画像処理部4及びパネル6で構成される。ここで、画像処理部4は、前述のものと同一であるため、その説明を省略する。

Claims (6)
- 原画像から平均輝度レベルを算出するステップと;
前記平均輝度レベルに応じてガンマ曲線を選ぶステップと;
前記原画像を対象にヒストグラム分布数を算出するステップと;
前記算出されたヒストグラム分布数としきい値とを比較して低いグレーレベル領域を抽出するステップと;
前記低いグレーレベル領域を対象にヒストグラム平滑化を行うステップと;
前記選ばれたガンマ曲線と前記平滑化されたヒストグラムを用いて1フレーム遅延した原画像のグレーレベルを補正するステップと;
を含むフラットパネル表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記1フレーム遅延した原画像が、前記原画像がフレームメモリに仮格納された後に出力される画像であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のフラットパネル表示装置の駆動方法。
- 前記ガンマ曲線が、前記平均輝度レベルの高・中・低に応じて選ばれるように複数本備えられることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のフラットパネル表示装置の駆動方法。
- 前記ヒストグラム平滑化された低いグレーレベル領域に基づき、前記1フレーム遅延した原画像のグレーレベルが補正されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のフラットパネル表示装置の駆動方法。
- 原画像から平均輝度レベルを算出する平均輝度レベル算出手段と;
前記平均輝度レベルに応じてガンマ曲線を選ぶガンマ曲線選択手段と;
前記原画像を対象にヒストグラム分布数を算出するヒストグラム算出手段と;
前記算出されたヒストグラム分布数としきい値とを比較して低いグレーレベル領域を抽出する低いグレーレベル抽出手段と;
前記低いグレーレベル領域を対象にヒストグラム平滑化を行うヒストグラム平滑化手段と;
前記選ばれたガンマ曲線と前記平滑化されたヒストグラムを用いて1フレーム遅延した原画像のグレーレベルを補正するグレーレベル補正手段と;
を含むフラットパネル表示装置の駆動装置。 - 前記ガンマ曲線が、前記平均輝度レベルの高・中・低に応じて選ばれるように複数本備えられることを特徴とする請求項5に記載のフラットパネル表示装置の駆動装置。
