【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、文字や記号を印字するための印字用テープと、この印字用テープに文字や記号を印字するテープ印字装置に係り、詳しくは、被印字面側からハーフカットにより所定形状に切り抜かれ、剥離可能なラベル部を有する印字用テープと、この印字用テープを好適に取り扱うことができるテープ印字装置に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
従来、受像シートと剥離シートを積層して成る印刷用シートとしては、特許第2807881号公報に記載のように、印刷された領域の剥離が容易になるように受像シート或いは剥離シートにハーフカット処理を施したものが知られている。しかし、このような構成の印刷用シートは、搬送途中にシート搬送経路上のピンやガイド壁などと接触することにより、ハーフカットされた部分が剥がれ、走行に支障をきたす可能性がある。特に、長尺テープにハーフカット処理を施した印字用テープでは、その印字用テープはロール状に巻回されてカセット内に収容されているため、印字用テープがロールから引き出されてカセット内やテープ印字装置内で搬送される際に、ハーフカットされた部分のテープ搬送方向先端側が剥離しやすくなっており、その部分の剥がれにより走行不良がさらに発生しやすくなっている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
本発明は、上記問題を解決するためになされたものであり、ハーフカット処理により剥離可能なラベル部が印字処理前又は印字処理中に剥離することにより発生するテープ走行不良を防止しつつ、しかも印字処理後にはラベル部を容易に剥離できる印字用テープ及びテープ印字装置を提供することを目的とするものである。

【課題を解決するための手段】
前記目的を達成するため、請求項1に記載の印字用テープは、文字や記号が印字される被印字面を有する長尺テープ状の印字媒体と、前記印字媒体の前記被印字面と反対側の一面に設けられる前記印字媒体から剥離可能に接着された剥離テープとを積層してなり、テープ印字装置に用いられる印字用テープにおいて、前記テープ印字装置に対するテープ給送方向における下流側の一辺を残して略コ字状に前記被印字面側からハーフカット処理が施されており、前記ハーフカット処理が施されていない一辺を検出するためのマーカーが印刷されていることを特徴とするものである。勿論、前記印字用テープに施されるハーフカット処理における略コ字状とは、長方形の4辺のうちの3辺により構成される形状に限られず、それら3辺のうち少なくとも1つに曲線や折れ線を含んでいてもよく、隣り合う辺のなす角は90度でなくてもよい。また、隣り合う辺の間に面取りやR部を設けてもよい。

また、請求項2に記載のテープ印字装置は、請求項1に記載の印字用テープの被印字面に印字を行う印字部と、前記印字用テープの給送状態を検出する検出手段と、前記印字部から送られてくる前記印字用テープを切断する切断部と、前記検出手段からの情報に基づき、前記印字用テープを、その前記一辺が前記切断部により切断可能に位置するように給送する給送制御手段を有することを特徴とするものである。

また、請求項3に記載のテープ印字装置は、文字や記号が印字される被印字面を有する長尺テープ状の印字媒体と前記印字媒体の前記被印字面と反対側の一面に設けられ、前記印字媒体から剥離可能に接着された剥離テープとを積層してなる印字用テープであって、テープ給送方向における下流側の一辺を残して略コ字状に前記被印字面側から少なくとも印字媒体を切断するハーフカット処理が施されており、前記ハーフカット処理が施されていない一辺を検出するためのマーカーが印刷されている印字用テープと、前記印字用テープの被印字面に印字を行う印字部と、前記マーカーを検知する検知手段と、前記印字部から送られてくる前記印字用テープを切断する切断部と、前記印字用テープを前記ハーフカット処理が施されていない一辺の位置で切断する第1切断位置と前記印字部により印字された印字用テープにおいて次に印字される領域の手前で切断する第2切断位置とを決定す る決定手段と、前記検知手段により検知されたマーカーに基づき前記印字用テープを前記第1切断位置まで給送する第1給送制御手段と、前記第1給送制御手段による給送の後、前記印字用テープを前記第2切断位置まで給送する第2給送制御手段とを備えていることを特徴とするものである。

【発明の実施の形態】
次に、本発明を具体化した一実施形態について図面を参照しながら詳細に説明する。

本実施形態は、文字や記号などの多数のキャラクタを印字用テープに印字可能なテープ印字装置に対して、本発明の印字用テープ及びテープ印字装置を適用した場合を例として説明する。

図1、2に基づいて本実施形態に係る印字用テープ300の構成について説明する。図1は印字用テープ300を印字媒体301側からみた図であり、図2は図1のV−V線矢視断面拡大図である。

印字用テープ300は長尺テープ状に構成されており、文字や記号、イラストなどが印字される印字媒体301と、粘着剤層302と、剥離テープ303とを、この順に積層して構成されている。印字用テープ300には、被印字面301a側から略コ字状にハーフカット305が形成され、このハーフカット305により囲まれた領域によりラベル部306を形成している。印字媒体301は、印字が施される被印字面301aの裏側の面に粘着剤層302が固着されている。剥離テープ303は、粘着剤層302と接する面がシリコン樹脂等の離型性材料により離型処理されており、粘着剤層302と剥離テープ303とは剥離可能となっている。ハーフカット305は、打抜き機等を用いて進入の深さをコントロールすることにより施され、その打抜き形状は打抜き機に用いられるハーフカット用刃体により任意に形成できる。ハーフカット305の深さは、印字媒体301と粘着剤層302を切断できる深さでよいが、剥離テープ303が容易に千切れない深さであれば、剥離テープ303に進入してもよい。

印字媒体301の被印字面301aには、予め所定位置に光学センサーの光線に対して反射率の低いマーカー304が印刷されている。このマーカー304を光学センサーで読み取ることで、テープ印字装置側で印字用テープ300の給送状態を検出することが可能である。

以上のことから、この印字用テープ300は、そのハーフカット処理が施されていない給送方向下流側の一辺を切断することにより、印字媒体301を粘着剤層302とともに剥離して、所望物品へ貼付することができる。

次に、この印字用テープ300が収納されるテープカセット20及びテープカセット20に装着されるインクリボンカセット30について図3〜5に基づいて説明する。図3は、本実施形態の印字用テープ300を収納するテープカセット20の概略構成を示した平面図である。図4は、前記テープカセット20に装着されるインクリボンカセット30の概略構成を示した平面図である。また、図5は、印字用テープ300を収容したテープカセット20に、インクリボンカセット30を装着した状態の図である。

印字用テープ300は、テープスプール23に巻回された状態でテープ印字装置1に着脱自在に装着されるテープカセット20に収納される。

このテープカセット20の筐体をなすテープケース21内部には、印字用テープ300が巻装されたテープスプール23が回動自在に設けられ、このテープスプール23から繰出された印字用テープ300は、複数のガイド部で湾曲状にガイドされて、テープケース21の一側面に設けられた開口部25を通過し、テープケース21の前記一側面と隣り合う側面に設けられたスリット状のテープ出口26からテープカセット20の外部に排出されるように構成されている。また、テープケース21には、リボンカセット30を収容する為のリボンカセット収容部21fが形成されている。

テープケース21には、搭載されている印字用テープ300の被印字面301aに予め印刷されている定型フォーマット等の内容を検出させる為に、任意の検出用穴210aを組み合わせた検出用穴群210が形成されている。尚、図5では、検出用穴210aが2つ形成された状態を示している。

リボンケース31には、インクリボン32が巻装されたリボンスプール33と、このインクリボン32を巻取るリボン巻取りスプール34とが回転可能に設けられている。リボンスプール33に巻装されたインクリボン32は、サーマルヘッド12に対向するときに印字用テープ300と一時的に平行状に接近し、リボンケース31に一体形成された分離部材35の分離部35aで略鋭角的に折曲されて、印字用テープ300から離間し、リボン巻取りスプール34で巻き取られるように構成されている。

リボンケース31には、インクリボン32のリボン色やリボン幅を検出させる為に最大4つの検出用穴36aを組み合わせた検出穴群36が形成されている。尚、図5では検出用穴36aが二つ形成されている状態を示している。

次に、印字用テープ300が用いられるテープ印字装置1の概略構成について、図6及び7を用いて説明する。図6は、本実施形態の印字用テープ300に印字を行うテープ印字装置1の外観を示す平面図である。また、図7はテープカセット20及びインクリボン30を前記テープ印字装置1に装着した状態を示した平面図である。

図6及び図7に示すように、テープ印字装置1の本体カバー2の前部には、文字や記号や数字などの文字キーに加えて、種々の機能キーなどが設けられたキーボード4が配設され、そのキーボード4の直ぐ後側には、入力した文字や記号を表示可能な液晶ディスプレイ5が設けられている。また、本体カバー2には、開閉可能なカセットカバー3が設けられており、このカセットカバー3に対応する本体カバー2の内側には、サーマルヘッド12を備えたサーマル印字機構10が配設されている。また、本体カバー2には、カセットカバー3を開放するために操作されるスライドツマミ6が設けられており、本体カバー2の左側面には印字用テープ300が排出されるスリット98が形成されている。テープ印字装置1の後部左側には、印字された印字用テープ300を切断するために操作される切断用ノブ85が配設されている。

次に、印字用テープ300とインクリボン32とを移送可能なテープ・リボン移送機構40について、図7及び図8に基づいて説明する。図8は、サーマル印字機構10の概略構成を示す平面図である。

テープ印字装置1のカセットカバー3に対応する本体カバー2の内側には、金属板からなる本体フレーム11が配設されている。本体フレーム11には、テープスプール23の中央部に係合可能なテープ巻取りカム41と、リボン巻取りスプール34の中央部に係合可能なリボン巻取りカム42と、テープ送りローラ24の中央部に係合するテープ駆動カム43とが回転可能に枢支されている。

テープ巻取りカム41は、印字用テープ300を印字時の搬送方向と反対の方向に逆送する場合に、テープスプール23を、印字用テープ300が巻き取られる方向に回転駆動するための駆動軸であり、その下端部にギヤ52が固着されている。

リボン巻取りカム42は、印字中にインクリボン32をリボン巻取りスプール34に巻き取られる方向に搬送するために回転駆動される駆動軸であり、その下端部に配置され、一体に形成されたギヤ48及び49とは図示しないクラッチ機構により接続されている。そして、図8に示されている矢印方向にギヤ48及びギヤ49が回転した場合にリボン巻取りカム42が同じ方向に回転駆動されるようになっている。

テープ駆動カム43は、サーマルヘッド12による印字が施された印字用テープ300をスリット98からテープ印字装置1の外に排出するために、テープ送りローラ24を回転駆動するための駆動軸であり、その下端部にはギヤ54が固着されている。

遊星ギヤ機構58は、ギヤ49と噛合されたギヤ50と、ギヤ50と一体に形成されたギヤ51と、ギヤ51の回動軸に回動可能に被嵌されたアーム56と、このアーム56に回動可能に軸支され、ギヤ51に噛合された遊星ギヤ57から成る。

テープ駆動モータ44が図8の矢印方向に回転しているときは、遊星ギヤ57はギヤ52から離隔し、テープ巻取りカム41は回転が自由となる。一方、テープ駆動モータ44が図8の矢印と反対方向に回転した場合は、遊星ギヤ57はギヤ52に噛合して、テープ巻取りカム41はテープを印字方向とは逆に巻き取るように回転する。

以上により、印字用テープ300に文字や記号等を印字する場合、図8における矢印方向に回転駆動されるテープ駆動モータ44の駆動力は、テープ駆動ギヤ54に固着されたテープ駆動カム43に伝達され、テープ送りローラ24が回転することによって印字用テープ300が移送される。そして、印字用テープ300は、サーマルヘッド12で印字されながら、テープ切断機構80とテープ検出機構90とを通過して外部に排出される。

サーマル印字機構10内で印字用テープ300の撓みをとる等の目的で、印字用テープ300をテープスプール23に巻き取ることにより逆送させる時には、テープ駆動モータ44が図8における矢印とは逆方向に回転し、テープ巻取りカム41に伝達され、テープスプール23が逆回転することで、印字用テープ300が巻き戻される。

次に、印字された印字用テープ300を切断するテープ切断機構80について、図8、図9に基づいて説明する。図9は、テープ印字装置1に備えられるテープ切断機構の側面図である。

本体フレーム11の左端部が部分的に下方に曲げられた左端壁11aには、固定刃81の下端部が固着され、側面視略L字状の切断用レバー82の基端部がビス83で回動可能に枢支され、その切断用レバー82には可動刃82aが形成されている。

図9に示すように、切断用レバー82の先端部の切断用ノブ85を下方向に押圧操作したときには、可動刃82aが2点鎖線で示す切断位置に回動し、固定刃81と可動刃82aとの間に位置する印字用テープ300が、これら両刃81・82aの協働により切断される。そして、切断用レバー82の押圧操作を停止すると、切断用レバー82は、図示外のバネによる付勢力により、実線で示す元の所定位置に復帰回動する。

テープ切断機構80よりも外側の本体カバー2には、センサ収容室96を密閉状に形成する為に案内部材94、95がそれぞれ本体カバー2に一体的に形成されている。そして、センサ収容室96には発光・受光素子92が取付けられ、この発光・受光素子92が検出センサ91を構成している。一対の案内部材94,95の間には、印字用テープ300が通過可能なスリット98が形成され、案内部材94には小径の光通過穴94aが形成されるとともに、傾斜したガイド99が夫々形成されて、テープ切断機構80を通過した印字用テープ300の先端部をこのガイド部99でガイドすることで、確実にスリット98を通過して検出可能になっている。

そして、発光・受光素子92から発射されたセンサ光が、センサ収容室96に形成された光通過穴94aを通過して印字用テープ300に反射し、発光・受光素子92に投射される。即ち、印字用テープ300が前記スリット98に進入し、センサ光がテープの白地に反射して発光・受光素子92が受光すると検出センサ91からは、「H」レベルが出力され、テープ上のマーカー304がスリット98に進入すると、センサ光が反射されず、「L」レベルのマーカー検出信号TSを出力する。

次に、テープ印字装置1の制御系について、図10を用いて説明する。図10は、本実施形態のテープ印字装置の制御系のブロック図である。

制御装置CDは、テープ印字装置1の全体的な制御を行う制御装置であり、CPU110と、このCPU110にデータバスなどのバス114を介して接続された入出力インターフェース113と、フォントROM111と、ROM112及びRAM120とから構成されている。

尚、ROM112には、検出スイッチ群103から出力されるフォーマット検出信号FSに基づいて、テープに予め印刷されている定型フォーマットの種類を検知する定型フォーマット検知テーブルが格納されている。また、ROM112には、印字用テープ300のマーカー304を検出時に出力されるマーカー検出信号TSをCPU110が受信した状態からの印字開始位置までのテープ送り量及び切断位置までのテープ送り量に関するデータが、各定型フォーマット毎に格納されている。前記RAM120のテキストメモリ121には、キーボード4から入力された文字や記号からなるテキストのデータが、予め記憶された各定型フォーマット毎の印字位置に対応付けて格納される。印字枚数メモリ122には、設定された印字枚数のデータが格納される。印字データバッファ125には、そのテキストメモリ121に格納されたキャラクタコードに対応するドットパターンデータが展開して格納される。さらに、RAM120には、CPU110で演算した演算結果を一時的に格納するメモリなどが設けられている。

次に、テープ印字装置1の制御装置CDで行われる制御について、図11、図12及び13を用いて説明する。図11は、テープ印字装置1の印字処理に関わる制御の概略フローチャートである。また、図12は、印字処理制御の概略フローチャートである。また、図13は印字用テープ300の切断状態を示す平面図である。

このテープ印字装置1に電源が投入されると、先ずサーマル印字機構10や制御装置CDを初期化する初期化処理が実行される(S101)。

以上の処理は、テープ印字装置1上に検出センサ91が搭載されて、印字開始位置及び切断位置を自動的に検出し、設定する場合である。しかし、検出センサを搭載しない装置において印字する場合、また、マーカー304が印刷されていない場合については、装置上で自動的に印字開始位置を検出しないのでユーザーが位置設定を行うことになる。

この場合、ユーザーは印字用テープ300のハーフカット処理が施されていない一辺をテープ印字装置1の本体カバー2の左側面に合わせ、キーボード4により第1切断位置として入力する。この入力を行うことで、CPU110はS102で検出されたテープ種類のデータに基づいて、その印字用テープ300に応じた印字開始位置及び第2切断位置を計算し、後は前記印字処理制御と同様な手順で印字が正しい位置に行われる。

このような制御に従えば、ハーフカット処理された印字用テープ300に対し、検出センサが搭載されていない装置でも正しい位置に印字することができる。

以上に説明したことから、本実施形態のテープ印字装置1によれば、予め印字用テープ300上にハーフカット処理されているラベル部306に対して印字を行う際に、難しい位置合わせ等を行うことなく容易に正しい位置に印字、または切断位置を特定することができる。

ここで、マーカー304が印刷される印刷面は、使用される装置本体により印字面側及び背面側の選択が可能であり、この点は、装置本体の仕様にあわせればよい。また、粘着層及び剥離テープを有し、その剥離紙を剥すことにより貼着可能なテープの場合は、剥離紙にマーカーを印刷しておけば、印字動作中にサーマルヘッドやインクリボンなどとマーカーが接触することがないので、サーマルヘッドやインクリボンの磨耗を防止することが可能である。

また、本発明の印字用テープは、印字終了後にユーザーがカッターナイフなどを用いて、ハーフカットされていない部分を切断することができるので、切断位置を自動で特定する機能を有しない印字装置においても使用することができる。
