Description
前記コア層の光入射部が前記コア層の光出射部よりも拡大された幅に形成され、
前記コア層の前記光入射部の少なくとも側面が反射面として、前記光入射部への入射 光を前記光出射部側へ反射する形状に形成され、
前記コア層に接する前記クラッド層内に光源が埋設されて一体化され、前記光源の発 光部が、前記光入射部における前記接合面において前記コア層に接触して配置され、こ の接触面を介して前記発光部の放射光が前記コア層内に入射され、
前記光源の発光部と対向した、前記接合面とは反対側の前記コア層の表面が、他の表 面域と同一平面内に存在する平坦面に形成されていると共に、前記光入射部における前 記側面の一部分である前記コア層の端面が、前記平坦面に対して直交している
ことを特徴とする、光導波装置(以下、本発明の光導波装置と称する。)に係るものである。
図1及び図2は、本実施の形態による光導波路10を有する光導波装置の概略図を示し、図1(a)は図1(b)のa−a線断面図、図1(b)は図1(a)のb−b線断面図である。また、図2は図1と同様な断面を示し、入射光の反射と反射光の導波過程を示す図である。
図3及び図4は、本実施の形態による光導波路10Aを有する光導波装置の概略図を示し、図3(a)は図3(b)のa−a線断面図、図3(b)は図3(a)のb−b線断面図である。また、図4は図3と同様な断面を示し、入射光の反射と反射光の導波過程を示す図である。

Claims (7)
- コア層とクラッド層とがそれぞれ一様な厚さに形成され、平坦な接合面を介して互いに接合されている光導波路を有する光導波装置において、
前記コア層の光入射部が前記コア層の光出射部よりも拡大された幅に形成され、
前記コア層の前記光入射部の少なくとも側面が反射面として、前記光入射部への入射 光を前記光出射部側へ反射する形状に形成され、
前記コア層に接する前記クラッド層内に光源が埋設されて一体化され、前記光源の発 光部が、前記光入射部における前記接合面において前記コア層に接触して配置され、こ の接触面を介して前記発光部の放射光が前記コア層内に入射され、
前記光源の発光部と対向した、前記接合面とは反対側の前記コア層の表面が、他の表 面域と同一平面内に存在する平坦面に形成されていると共に、前記光入射部における前 記側面の一部分である前記コア層の端面が、前記平坦面に対して直交している
ことを特徴とする、光導波装置。 - 前記光入射部の前記側面が平面的にみて放物線形、半円形又は多角形に形成されている、請求項1に記載した光導波装置。
- 前記光入射部の少なくとも側面が光反射性金属膜で覆われている、請求項1に記載した光導波装置。
- 前記光入射部が少なくとも2個設けられ、これらの光入射部を形成する各コア層が前記光出射部側で合流されて共通の光出射部を形成している、請求項1に記載した光導波装置。
- 異なる波長帯の光信号が前記コア層に集光されて合波される、請求項4に記載した光導波装置。
- 前記コア層の幅が、前記光入射部から前記光出射部側へ直線的に小さくなっている、請求項1に記載した光導波装置。
- 前記光源が発光ダイオードである、請求項1に記載した光導波装置。
