本発明は、CD−R(Compact Disc-Recordable)やCD−RW(Compact Disc-ReWritable)などの光ディスクに情報を記録する際に良好な記録が行える記録速度を判定する光ディスク記録速度判定方法および光ディスク記録装置に関する。
【0002】

一方、リードイン領域114よりも内周側には、内周側PCA(Power Calibration Area)領域112が用意されている。
【0023】
制御部16は、CPU(Central Processing Unit)、ROM(Read Only Memory)およびRAM(Random Access Memory)等から構成されており、ROMに格納されたプログラムにしたがって当該光ディスク記録再生装置の装置各部を制御する。
【0024】
PJ01=(PJ1’−PL1)/PL1*100

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an optical disk recording speed determination method and an optical disk for determining a recording speed at which good recording can be performed when recording information on an optical disk such as a CD-R (Compact Disc-Recordable) or a CD-RW (Compact Disc-ReWritable). The present invention relates to a recording apparatus.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, as a recording method for an optical disc such as a CD-R or a DVD-R (Digital Versatile Disc-Recordable), a linear velocity higher than a standard linear velocity (1 × speed) (for example, 2 × speed, 4 × speed,..., Etc.) ) Is recorded at high speed.
[0003]
Conventionally, by changing the so-called strategy that adjusts the recording laser power, irradiation time, irradiation start timing, etc. according to the recording speed magnification as described above, recording with few reading errors was performed at each double speed recording speed. .
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, some types of optical disks to be recorded are not compatible with high-speed recording. When recording on such an optical disk at high speed, there is a high possibility that a recording error will occur. Also, when recording on an optical disc that supports high-speed recording, a recording error may occur depending on the compatibility between the recording device and the optical disc. It may become impossible to reproduce the area.
[0005]
Conventionally, prior to the actual recording, OPC (Optimum Power Control: Optimizing the recording beam) that performs test recording in a predetermined area of the optical disc at a set recording speed and obtains a recording laser power capable of optimum recording at the recording speed. Recording power adjustment) is performed, but it is impossible to determine at what speed recording can be performed by OPC. If it is possible to determine how fast the recording can be performed by combining the optical disk to be recorded and the recording apparatus that records on the optical disk, the combination of the optical disk and the recording apparatus causes a recording error. However, although it is possible to perform recording in a shorter time, an effective method for discriminating a recording speed range in which good recording can be realized has not been proposed.
[0006]
The present invention has been made in consideration of the above circumstances, and an optical disk recording speed determination method capable of determining a recording speed capable of realizing good recording with few recording errors when recording on a certain optical disk. It is another object of the present invention to provide an optical disk recording apparatus.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above problems, an optical disc recording speed determination method according to the present invention includes a test recording step for performing test recording on an optical disc prior to the actual recording of the optical disc, and the test recording area of the optical disc. Based on the reproduction step for obtaining the reproduction signal and the reproduction signal in the test recording area, the first recording characteristic indicating the relationship between the β value or the recording laser power value and a predetermined parameter relating to the quality of the recording state is 1 or A first derivation step obtained for each of a plurality of recording speeds, a first recording characteristic obtained for each of the one or more recording speeds, and a predetermined parameter for performing good recording stored in advance. Based on the first preferred value information indicating the possible value, the recording speed and the β value for taking the value indicated in the first preferred value information Or a second derivation step for obtaining a second recording characteristic indicating a relationship with a possible range of the recording laser power value, the second recording characteristic, and the above-described recording in order to perform good recording stored in advance. and a recording speed deriving step for obtaining a recordable speed capable of performing proper recording on the optical disk based on the β value or the second suitable value information indicating the value that the recording laser power value can take. Yes.
[0008]
According to the present invention, test recording is performed on an optical disc on which actual recording is performed, and from the result of the test recording, a β value or a recording laser power value such that a parameter relating to the quality of the recording state is within a preferable range. Since the range can be derived and the recording speed at which the derived β value or recording laser power value falls within a suitable value can be obtained, the recording speed capable of realizing good recording with few recording errors is determined. be able to.
[0009]
The method further includes a determination step of determining the type of the optical disc. In the second derivation step, a plurality of the first suitable value information recorded for each type of the disc are selected. The disc corresponding to the disc type discriminated in the discriminating step is selected, and in the recording speed deriving step, the discriminating method is selected from the second suitable value information recorded for each disc type. A disc corresponding to the disc type determined in the step may be selected.
In the above method, the predetermined parameter may include at least one of the number of synchronization signal detections within a predetermined period, C1 error, jitter, deviation, modulation degree, reflectance, and amplitude of the reproduction signal.
[0010]
An optical disk recording apparatus according to the present invention is an optical disk recording apparatus that records information by irradiating a laser beam on an optical disk, and performs a test recording on the optical disk prior to actual recording on the optical disk. A recording means, a reproducing means for obtaining a reproduction signal of the test recorded area in the optical disc, and a β value or a recording laser power value based on the reproduction signal of the test recording area reproduced by the reproducing means; First deriving means for obtaining a first recording characteristic indicating a relationship with a predetermined parameter relating to the quality of the recording state for each of one or a plurality of recording speeds, and a value that can be taken by the predetermined parameter for good recording First storage means for storing first preferred value information indicating the first recording characteristic, and a first recording characteristic determined for each of the one or more recording speeds. And the β value or the recording laser for taking a value indicated by the recording speed and the first suitable value information based on the first suitable value information stored in the first storage means. A second deriving means for obtaining a second recording characteristic indicating a relationship with a range of power values, and a second preferred value indicating a value that the β value or the recording laser power value can take in order to perform good recording. Based on the second storage means for storing the value information, the second recording characteristic, and the second suitable value information stored in the second storage means, recording is possible to perform appropriate recording on the optical disc. And a recording speed deriving means for obtaining a high speed.

In the present embodiment, test recording is performed prior to the actual data recording process, and the maximum recording speed at which good recording can be obtained with respect to the optical disc D can be obtained from the reproduction signal of the test recorded area. In the actual recording, CAV recording is performed until the maximum recording speed obtained is reached, and after reaching the maximum recording speed, CLV recording is performed at that speed, so that a good recording quality is not deteriorated for a short time. Can be recorded. Therefore, the user automatically performs recording with a good recording quality in a short time without giving consideration to the corresponding recording speed of the optical disc D or compatibility between the optical disc D and the optical disc recording / reproducing apparatus. It can be done.
[0039]
C. Modified example
In addition, this invention is not limited to embodiment mentioned above, Various deformation | transformation which is illustrated below is possible.
[0040]
(Modification 1)
In the above-described embodiment, CAV recording is performed until the maximum recordable speed obtained according to the result of the test recording is reached, and CLV recording is performed after reaching the maximum recording speed. CLV recording may be performed at a speed lower than the maximum recording speed.
[0041]
Further, when the maximum recording speed obtained as described above is 12 × speed and the user instructs the 16 × speed CLV recording, the user is notified that good recording cannot be performed by 16 × speed CLV recording. Then, it may be prompted to reset the recording speed. In addition, when the recording speed set by the user is higher than the maximum recording speed obtained as described above, the user is not prompted to reset as described above, but is automatically below the maximum recording speed obtained automatically. The recording speed may be changed and set to be recorded at the changed recording speed. In this case, the time required for recording at the changed recording speed may be estimated, and the estimated time may be notified to the user.
[0042]
(Modification 2)
In the above-described embodiment, the maximum recording speed at which good recording can be performed is obtained. However, the recording quality may be deteriorated during low-speed recording (as shown in FIG. 10, the C1 error value is suitable). When the β value range βm that falls within the range becomes smaller as the speed decreases). In such a case, as shown in FIG. 11, the speed at which the value shown in the β preferred value information (10 or more in the illustrated example) is obtained is obtained as the minimum recording speed Vmin at which good recording can be performed. do it.
[0043]
In the actual recording when the minimum recording speed is obtained in this way, as shown in FIG. 12, CLV recording is performed at a recording speed higher than the obtained minimum recording speed (4 × speed in the illustrated example), and CAV recording is performed. It may be switched to CAV recording when the linear velocity at the time of performing becomes higher than the minimum recording velocity.
[0044]
(Modification 3)
In the above-described embodiment, the recordable speed is obtained based on the β value. However, the present invention is not limited to this, and the recordable speed may be obtained based on the recording laser power value. In this case, the
PJ01 = (PJ1′−PL1) / PL1 * 100
In this way, as shown in FIG. 13B, the allowable upper limit range values PJ01, PJ02, PJ03 and the allowable lower limit range values PK01, PK02, PK03 of the recording laser power at each recording speed are obtained, and further shown in FIG. The relationship between the allowable range of the recording laser power value and the recording speed may be obtained, and the recording speed at which the allowable range Pm of the recording laser power value becomes the predetermined value Pm1 may be obtained as the maximum recordable speed.

(Modification 4)
In the above-described embodiment, the recordable speed is obtained on the basis of the β value range in which the C1 error value is smaller than the predetermined value. However, other parameters may be used. For example, as shown in FIG. 15, a frame synchronization signal detection and count circuit 140 is provided instead of the C1
[0046]
In the method using the number of detections of the frame synchronization signal instead of the C1 error value, first, from the number of detections of the frame synchronization signal supplied from the sync equal detection circuit 140 and the β value supplied from the

In addition, as shown in FIG. 17, a

In the method using the jitter value instead of the C1 error value, first, a plurality of recordings as shown in FIG. 18A are obtained from the jitter value supplied from the

Further, as shown in FIG. 19, a
[0050]
In the method using the deviation value instead of the C1 error value, first, a plurality of recordings as shown in FIG. 20A are obtained from the deviation value supplied from the
[0051]
Further, instead of the C1 error value, the recordable speed may be obtained by using parameters such as the amplitude, modulation degree, and reflectance of the RF signal supplied from the
[0052]
Further, the relationship between the modulation degree and the β value has characteristics similar to the amplitude of the RF signal as shown in FIG. Such characteristics are obtained for each of a plurality of types of recording speeds, and similarly to the above-described embodiment, an upper limit value and a lower limit value of β values that fall within the range of the modulation degree obtained in advance by experiments are obtained for each recording speed. Thereafter, the recordable speed can be obtained by the same method as in the above embodiment. The modulation factor can be obtained by modulation factor = (Imax−Imin) / Imax where Imax is the maximum value of the RF signal and Imin is the minimum value.
[0053]
Further, the relationship between the reflectance and the β value becomes a characteristic of a substantially linear function in which the reflectance decreases as the β value increases as shown in FIG. Such characteristics are obtained for each of a plurality of types of recording speeds, and similarly to the above-described embodiment, an upper limit value and a lower limit value of β values that fall within the reflectance range obtained in advance by experiments are obtained for each recording speed. Thereafter, the recordable speed can be obtained by the same method as in the above embodiment. The reflectance can be obtained by averaging the RF signal through a low-pass filter.
[0054]
In the above example, the relationship between each parameter used instead of the C1 error value and the β value is obtained and the recordable speed is obtained. However, as described in the above-described modification, The relationship with the recording laser power value may be obtained to obtain the recordable speed.
[0055]
Further, a plurality of parameters (for example, C1 error value and jitter value) may be used to obtain the recordable speed. For example, when determining the maximum recording speed, the smaller one of the recording speeds obtained using both parameters is adopted as the maximum recording speed, and when obtaining the minimum recording speed, the recording speed obtained using both parameters is used. The larger one of these may be adopted as the minimum recording speed.
[0056]
(Modification 5)
In the above-described embodiment, the case where a CD-R is used as the optical disk D has been described as an example, but other than this, a CD-RW, a DVD-R, a DVD-RAM (DVD-Random Access Memory), and the like. It can also be applied when recording in
[0057]
(Modification 6)
In the embodiment described above, recording is performed using the maximum recordable speed obtained according to the result of the test recording (for example, switching from CAV to CLV when the speed is reached). When it is determined that the optical disk D set in the optical disk recording / reproducing apparatus cannot record at the linear velocity set by the user, the linear velocity smaller than the set velocity is set without performing test recording. The recording speed may be automatically changed and recording may be performed. Specifically, each of a plurality of disc types and the recordable maximum linear velocity are stored in the ROM or the like of the
[0058]
(Modification 7)
In the above-described embodiment, the test recording or the like is performed to derive the maximum recording linear velocity regardless of the type of the set optical disc D. However, depending on the type of the optical disc D, There are some which cannot perform good recording even with such control. In order to prevent such recording from being performed as it is when the optical disc D is set, when a certain type of optical disc D is set, the optical disc D is ejected without performing any recording process. Thus, the recording may be prohibited, a warning or the like may be notified to the user, or both may be performed. Specifically, the type of the optical disc that cannot be recorded satisfactorily as described above is stored in advance in the ROM or the like of the
