Abstract
Description
【0001】

更に、記録管理領域RMA(Recording Management Area)が設けられ、更に、32KBのリンキングロスエリアが設けられている。
【0017】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a disk device for determining a strategy by performing test writing, and more particularly, to a disk device and a disk recording method corresponding to an outer peripheral side test writing region, and to this disk.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In recent years, optical disks have been dramatically popularized, and not only reproduction processing but also many types of recording apparatuses using the same have become widespread. In such a recording process, for example, the recording linear velocity when recording information on an optical disc such as a DVD (Digital Versatile Disk) is set to a constant value. As an example, the recording linear velocity for DVD-R, RW, etc. is specified by the standard as 3.49 m / s, but it is not assumed that recording is performed at a higher linear velocity.
[0003]
However, as a conventional technique, a disc capable of recording at a speed different from the standard recording linear velocity is known (for example, see Patent Document 1). Here, information that the disc can be recorded at a speed different from the standard recording linear velocity of 3.49 m / s is stored in the disc, and by reading this information, the optical disc recording / reproducing apparatus can read the information. Data can be recorded at a recording linear velocity such as double speed or quadruple speed as far as possible. This makes it possible to perform data recording processing not only at the standard linear velocity but also at a linear velocity such as double speed according to the velocity given by the optical disk.
[0004]
[Patent Document 1]
JP-A-2000-113458.
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in this prior art, there is no description about a test book to be performed when determining a recording strategy when performing a recording process, and the test book exists on the inner peripheral side as the speed increases to 4 × speed or 8 × speed. There is a problem that it is difficult to make a test writing in the test writing area (PCA). That is, when test writing is performed in the inner test writing area at a high recording linear velocity, the disk must be rotated at a very high speed, and in the case of an optical disk, it is necessary to rotate the disk at about 10,000 rotations or more. In some cases, the operation becomes extremely unstable.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to provide a disk device and a disk recording method capable of reliably performing test writing at a high recording linear velocity on a disk having a test writing area also on the outer peripheral side, and an object of the present invention.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present invention is directed to a detecting unit that reads a disk and detects an outer peripheral test writing area that is present on an outer periphery than a user data area, and detects the outer peripheral test writing area detected by the detecting unit based on the speed of the disk. A disk device comprising: a processing unit that performs test writing and determines a strategy; and a control unit that performs a recording process on the disk based on the strategy determined by the processing unit.
[0007]
As described above, the disk device according to the present invention, for a disk having a test writing area provided not only on the inner peripheral side but also on the outer peripheral side, when a certain linear velocity is exceeded, a test writing area on the outer peripheral side is written. Writing is performed, and a recording strategy is determined according to the result. Therefore, even when, for example, 4 × speed, 8 × speed, 16 × speed or more is requested, the rotational speed of the disk is increased by performing trial writing in the outer peripheral side test writing area located at the outermost periphery where linear velocity is easily obtained. Thus, the test writing can be stably performed without causing any trouble in the apparatus or processing, and the recording processing can be performed with the optimal strategy.
[0008]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, a disk device according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings by taking a DVD (Digital Versatile Disk) -R, RW (Rewritable) of an optical disk and an optical disk device performing recording processing on the disk as an example. This will be described in detail below with reference to the drawings.

<Optical disk according to the present invention>
Next, an example of the configuration of the optical disc according to the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. This optical disc is, for example, a DVD-R or a DVD-RW, and recording and reproduction are basically performed at a linear velocity of 3.49 m / s. However, recently, recording is performed at a high linear velocity such as twice, four times, eight times, or sixteen times the linear velocity.
[0016]
In this optical disk, a trial writing area PCA is provided as inner R-information, and a linking loss area of, for example, 32 KB is provided on the outer peripheral side as an area for safety. Further, a recording management area RMA (Recording Management Area) is provided, and further, a 32 KB linking loss area is provided.
[0017]
Further, a lead-in area is provided on the outer peripheral side, and a user data area for recording content data and the like is provided on the outer peripheral side. The user data area, as a boundary a predetermined radial position, a first area U 1 of the inner peripheral side, can be divided into a second region U 2 of the outer peripheral side. A lead-out area is provided on the outer peripheral side. As the outer R-information, a linking loss area of 32 KB is provided, a second recording management area RMA is provided, and a second trial writing area of the present invention is provided on the outer peripheral side.
[0018]
As will be described later, the optical disc according to the present invention is provided with the second recording management area RMA on the outer peripheral side, so that test writing for recording processing at double speed, quadruple speed, or higher speed is performed. Can be surely performed without extremely increasing the rotation speed of the motor.
Here, the linking loss areas are provided to appropriately separate the test writing area PCA and the recording management area RMA, thereby improving data reliability. Further, since the second test writing area PCA of the present invention is provided in the lead-out area on the outer peripheral side, even for an optical disk device that does not correspond to the outer peripheral side second test writing area PCA, No malfunction occurs, and compatibility with the conventional device can be ensured.
In addition, since the recording management area RMA is provided on the outer circumference side, it is possible to easily refer to the recording management area RMA when performing test writing on the outer circumference side or processing the user data area on the outer circumference side.

Furthermore, whether or not there is a test writing area on the outer peripheral side of the disk D is determined by, for example, the PCA area detection determination unit of the data processing unit 111 (S10). If there is, whether the previously selected recording linear velocity is equal to or higher than a predetermined velocity is determined by, for example, the PCA area detection determination unit (S11).
In this determination, it may be determined whether the recording linear velocity is equal to or higher than a predetermined recording linear velocity. Alternatively, the determination may be made based on whether or not the speed is equal to or higher than a predetermined speed, for example, whether or not the speed is higher than 4 times. Furthermore, if the CAV (Constant Angular Velocity) method is used, the determination may be made based on whether or not the optical disk is rotated at a predetermined number of rotations or more.
If it is determined that the test writing is performed at a speed equal to or higher than the set speed (S12), the test writing is performed using the test writing area PCA on the outer peripheral side of the optical disk (S12). If it is determined that the test writing is performed at a speed less than the set speed, the test writing is performed using the test writing area PCA on the inner circumference side of the optical disc (S13).

At this time, the test writing is performed from the inner periphery to the outer periphery when performing the test writing in the outer peripheral side test writing area, and the test writing is performed from the outer periphery to the inner peripheral when performing the test writing in the inner peripheral side test writing area. Is Thus, test writing can be performed stably by avoiding the outermost and innermost areas as much as possible.
Furthermore, the user data area, as a boundary a predetermined radial position, the inner first region U 1 of the circumference, can be divided into a second region U 2 of the outer peripheral side, the first region U of the inner peripheral side when recording to 1, using the inner peripheral side test document area, when recording on the second region U 2 of the outer peripheral side, it is also preferable to use a radially-outward test document area. As a result, test writing can be performed in a state close to the user data area to be used, and stable recording processing can be performed by obtaining an accurate strategy.
As described above in detail, according to the optical disc according to the present invention and the optical disc apparatus according to the present invention, even in the recording process at the increased high linear velocity, the test writing area is also provided on the outer peripheral side, A desired linear velocity can be obtained in the test writing area without rotating the spindle motor at an extremely high speed. Thereby, even in the recording process at a high linear velocity, it is possible to perform a stable recording process with an appropriate strategy.
Those skilled in the art can realize the present invention from the various embodiments described above, but it is easy for those skilled in the art to come up with various modified examples of these embodiments, and the invention has the inventive capability. The present invention can be applied to various embodiments at least. Therefore, the present invention covers a wide range not inconsistent with the disclosed principle and novel features, and is not limited to the above-described embodiments.
[0025]
For example, in the above example, the case where two test writing areas are prepared on the inner peripheral side and the outer peripheral side has been described as an example. However, the number is not limited to two, but is divided into three or more areas, and the recording area is divided into three or more areas. It is also possible to selectively use the PCA area to be used accordingly.
