【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention accepts a sheet on which an image is formed by an image forming apparatus such as an electrophotographic copying machine, a printer, or a printing machine, automatically binds the sheet using a stapler, and then discharges the sheet onto a discharge tray by a discharge unit. The present invention relates to a post-processing apparatus.
[0002]
[Prior art]
A sheet post-processing device called a finisher is used as a device that collates a plurality of sheets of image-recorded sheets discharged from the image forming apparatus for each number of copies and binds them by a stapler.
[0003]
This finisher is connected to a main body of an image forming apparatus such as a copying machine or a printer, and is driven in response to a sequence operation of a copy or print process.
[0004]
Therefore, for an image forming apparatus capable of processing an image forming process at high speed, a finisher capable of high speed processing capable of performing a function following the processing speed is required.
[0005]
Regarding finishers capable of such high-speed processing, JP-A-60-142359, JP-A-60-158463, JP-A-62-239169, JP-A-62-228802, JP-A-63-267667, JP-A-2 -276691 and Japanese Patent Publication No. 5-41991.
[0006]
In the sheet post-processing apparatus, the image-recorded sheets carried out from the image forming apparatus main body are sequentially stacked while being aligned in the intermediate stacker, and after one set of sheet bundles are stored, sheet post-processing such as a stapler is performed. The sheet bundle that has been bound and carried is carried on a discharge belt provided at the bottom of the intermediate stacker, and is further sandwiched by a pair of upper and lower discharge rollers and discharged onto a discharge tray.
[0007]
The sheet placement surface is inclined so that the discharge tray becomes higher from the rear end toward the front end, and the sheet rear end abutting reference member is erected on the rear end side of the discharge tray. The leading edge of the sheet discharged from the rear end side of the discharge tray is discharged in the direction of the front end of the discharge tray. After the trailing edge of the sheet has passed over the sheet trailing edge abutting reference member, A sheet for performing rear end alignment in the sheet discharge direction by sliding down the upper surface of the discharge tray using the drop or the sheet placed on the discharge tray and bringing it into contact with the sheet rear end abutting reference member A stacking apparatus is described in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 57-48558.
[0008]
A sheet post-processing apparatus disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. Hei 2-233456 has a paper discharge tray that can move horizontally at right angles to the sheet conveyance direction. The relative initial position of is changed.
[0009]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
FIG.FIG. 13A shows a paper discharge unit of a conventional sheet post-processing apparatus. FIG. 13A is a front view, and FIG.
[0010]
Sheet P carried out of image forming apparatus1The sheet bundle P introduced into the sheet post-processing apparatus, transported in the apparatus, aligned and stacked on the stacker1After being stapled by the stapler, the paper is sandwiched between the rotating paper discharge roller R1 and the elastic roller R2, and is discharged onto the paper discharge tray T, and already on the inclined surface of the paper discharge tray T or the paper discharge tray T. The top surface of the sheet P placed at an inclination is1The sheet is slid down by its own weight, and is conveyed while being pressed against the outer peripheral surface of the winding roller R3 made of a rotating sponge material.
[0011]
Uppermost sheet P stacked on the discharge tray T0The top end of the upper limit sensor PS is in light pressure contact with the tip of a swingable actuator AC that turns on and off the tray upper limit sensor PS, and the elastic roller R2 corresponds to the height of the sheets stacked on the paper discharge tray T. And sheet P0The sheet discharge tray T is controlled to move up and down so as to maintain a predetermined distance from the upper surface of the sheet. Note that the conventional tray upper limit sensor PS and actuator AC are installed at one location near the center of the sheet width.
[0012]
When the sheet bundle that has been bound by the stapler of the sheet post-processing apparatus is stacked on the discharge tray T, the staples overlap and become higher, and as shown in FIG. Although the actuator AC detects normal holding at a predetermined interval and the paper discharge tray T is stopped, the binding portion at the end becomes thick, and the sheet P1This closes the sheet discharge port having a predetermined interval for contacting the reference member K with the reference member K, and makes it impossible to stack and store subsequent sheets at predetermined positions. Further, the outer peripheral surface of the winding roller R3 in the vicinity of the binding position not only makes it difficult to pinch the stacked sheets and stack and store subsequent sheets at a predetermined position, but also the sandwiched sheets and winding The roller R3 is damaged. Such a problem is particularly noticeable when a large number of sheet bundles subjected to a small number of staples are stacked.
[0013]
In order to prevent the staples of the stapled sheet bundle from overlapping and becoming higher, the sheet discharge tray T is shifted in the horizontal direction perpendicular to the sheet conveying direction so that the staples do not overlap each other. This complicates the shift mechanism of the paper discharge tray T.
[0014]
In order to solve the above problems, the discharge tray T is lowered from the beginning as shown in FIGS. 14 (a) and 14 (b) in consideration of the amount that the staples overlap and become higher. If the gap is set large, the interval between the sheet discharge port where the discharge roller R1 and the elastic roller R2 are pressed against each other and the upper surface of the sheet stacked on the discharge tray T or the discharge tray T increases. Sheet P discharged from the nip position between roller R1 and elastic roller R21The leading end of the sheet abuts against the top surface of the sheet discharge tray T or the sheets stacked on the sheet discharge tray T, and good sheet discharge as shown in FIG.
[0017]
The object of the present invention is to solve the above problems and improve the results., ExhaustWhen a large number of stapled sheet bundles are stacked on the paper tray, the stapling needles overlap and become higher, preventing the roll-in roller sheet conveyance failure and sheet discharge failure.StopA sheet post-processing apparatus (finisher) to be achieved is provided.
[0018]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The purpose is to introduce a sheet conveyed from the image forming apparatus, convey it, and store it. After binding the bundle of stored sheets with a stapler, the sheet is discharged and stacked on a discharge tray that can be raised and lowered. Detecting means for detecting an uppermost position of a sheet bundle that has been bound and stacked on the sheet discharge trayHas a plurality of swingable detection members, each of the plurality of detection members is disposed near both ends and the center in the width direction of the sheet discharged onto the discharge tray, The leading ends of the plurality of detection members in contact with the sheets stacked on the discharge tray have the same shape and are arranged in the same phase with respect to the swinging direction. This is achieved by a sheet post-processing apparatus.
