従来、管路を流過するスチーム等の流体中に含まれる不純物を除去し、管路に配置された流体機器の故障の原因を排除するストレーナは公知である。かかるストレーナは、管路を配設された流体機器の一次側に配置され、故障等の原因となる不純物が流体機器に流入するのを防止している。従来は、ストレーナに捕集された不純物をストレーナの外に取り出すためには、フィルターをストレーナから取り外すか、若しくはストレーナを迂回するバイパス回路を設けて、ストレーナの清掃時に流体をストレーナからバイパスして流過させつつ清掃を行うようにしている。前者の場合、フィルターが取り外されているため清掃中に流体機器を作動すると流体中の不純物が除去されないまま流体機器に流れる問題があった。又、後者の場合にも、同様に流体中の不純物の除去が出来ないと共に、バイパス回路の付設を必要とし、回路構成を複雑にすると共に、コストがかかる問題がある。
