BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention includes a sensor that predicts (predicts) or detects a rear collision, and a control unit such as a CPU or a microcomputer unit that operates a pretensioner for a seat belt when the rear collision is predicted or detected. The present invention relates to a vehicle occupant protection device for protecting a vehicle.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, as a vehicle occupant protection device of the above-mentioned example, there is a device described in, for example, Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 9-175327.
That is, a prediction sensor (relative distance sensor) that predicts a rear collision based on the relative distance between the host vehicle and the target subsequent vehicle, and a retractor of a seat belt (a so-called MCU) via a microcomputer unit (so-called MCU) when the rear collision is predicted by this sensor. Alternatively, when the collision is inevitable by operating the pretensioner, the vehicle occupant protection device is configured to protect the occupant at the time of collision by increasing the tension of the seat belt and fixing the occupant to the seat.
[0003]
In this conventional device, the retracting speed of the seat belt by the retractor (or pretensioner) is uniform, so if the operating speed is set slow, the passenger's restraint on the seat back becomes insufficient and a good occupant protection effect On the other hand, if the operating speed is set fast, not only does it give the passenger a sense of incongruity, but the passenger is rapidly urged backwards by the seat belt, increasing the burden on the cervical spine. was there.
[0004]
Here, it is assumed that the above-described burden on the cervical spine is generated by the following mechanism. In other words, at the time of the rear impact, the occupant's head tries to stop with inertia, while the occupant's thoracic vertebra is pushed forward at the upper part of the seat back and straightens while moving forward, and the occupant's trunk rises along the seat back, It is assumed that a burden is generated on the cervical spine of the occupant.
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
According to the first aspect of the present invention, the operation speed of the pretensioner is set so that the operation speed of the pretensioner is low at the initial stage of operation and then high speed by the control means at the time of prediction or detection of the rear collision, and the pretensioner is operated. This prevents the pretensioner from increasing the burden on the cervical spine, and prevents the burden on the cervical spine by making the occupant's head close to the headrest in the event of a rear impact. In addition, when the operating speed of the pretensioner is low at the initial stage of operation, when the occupant detection means detects the occupant, the occupant has already contacted the seat back or the headrest by prohibiting the operating speed from increasing. In other situations, it is possible to prevent useless control, and after the pretensioner operating speed shifts from the initial low speed state to the high speed state, When the occupant is detected, the operation of the pretensioner is prohibited, so that the useless pretensioner operation can be suppressed in a situation where the occupant is already in contact with the seat back or the headrest. For the purpose of providingTo do.
[0006]
One embodiment of the present invention provides a vehicle occupant protection device capable of simplifying control by controlling the operation speed of the pretensioner in two stages (for example, two stages of low speed and high speed). With the goal.
[0007]
In one embodiment of the present invention, the timing of changing the operation speed described above is set before the actual occurrence of the rear collision, so that the operation of the pretensioner is performed between the predicted time of the rear collision and the actual time of the occurrence of the rear collision. It is an object of the present invention to provide a vehicle occupant protection device that can change the speed and prevent the burden on the cervical spine better and better.
[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The vehicle occupant protection device according to the present invention includes a sensor that predicts or detects a rear collision, a control unit that operates a pretensioner of the seat belt when the rear collision is predicted or detected, and the occupant approaches or abuts the seat back. An occupant protection device for a vehicle including an occupant detection means for detecting the operation, wherein the control means sets the operating speed of the pretensioner at a low speed in the initial stage of operation and then at a high speed thereafter. When the operating speed of the pretensioner is in a low-speed state at the initial stage of operation, when the occupant detecting means detects the occupant, the first prohibiting means for prohibiting the operating speed from being increased, and the operating speed of the pretensioner are A second prohibiting means for prohibiting the operation of the pretensioner when an occupant is detected by the occupant detecting means after the transition from the low speed state to the high speed state at the initial stage of operation; Those withis there.
[0009]
In one embodiment of the present invention, the operating speed of the pretensioner is controlled in two stages.
In one embodiment of the present invention, the change timing of the operating speed is set before the actual rear-end collision occurs.
[0010]
[Action and effect of the invention]
According to this invention, the above-described sensor predicts or detects a rear collision, and the above-described control means operates the seat belt pretensioner at the time of detecting or detecting the rear collision of the sensor to wind the seat belt. The control means controls the operating speed of the pretensioner so that it is low at the beginning of the operation and then high.
For this reason, the occupant is drawn to the seat back side at a low speed in the initial stage of operation, the distance between the occupant's head and the headrest is shortened, and then the seat belt is retracted at a high speed. It is possible to prevent the burden from increasing, and to prevent the burden on the cervical spine in advance by ensuring that the occupant's head is brought close to the headrest during a rear impact.
[0011]
Moreover, the first prohibiting means described above prohibits the operating speed from becoming high when the occupant detecting means detects the proximity or contact of the occupant when the operating speed of the pretensioner is in a low speed state at the initial stage of operation.
As a result, when the occupant is already in contact with the seat back or the headrest, it is possible to suppress the useless control of increasing the operating speed of the pretensioner.
[0012]
In addition, the second prohibiting means described above may prevent the pretensioner from operating when the occupant detecting means detects the proximity or contact of the occupant after the operating speed of the pretensioner has shifted from the low speed state at the initial stage of operation to the high speed state. Ban.
As a result, there is an effect that it is possible to suppress the useless use of the pretensioner when the occupant is already in contact with the seat back or the headrest. In other words, after the pretensioner operating speed shifts to a high speed state, if the back of the occupant abuts against the seat back or the head abuts against the headrest due to previous pretensioner operation, further pretensioner operation is useless. Therefore, such unnecessary control can be prevented. In addition, if the pretensioner operation beyond that is executed, the occupant is excessively restrained, but this point can also be solved.is there.
[0013]
According to one embodiment of the present invention, since the operation speed of the pretensioner is controlled in two stages, there is an effect that the pretensioner control by the control means can be simplified.
[0014]
According to one embodiment of the present invention, the timing for changing the operating speed of the pretensioner (the timing for switching from low speed to high speed) is set before the actual occurrence of the rear collision. There is an effect that the operation speed of the pretensioner can be varied until the time of the occurrence of the rear collision, and the burden on the cervical spine can be prevented more satisfactorily.
