【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、直流電圧を高周波電圧に変換して放電灯を点灯させる他励式の放電灯点灯装置に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
従来より、図29に示すように、商用電源よりなる交流電源Vsにより直流電圧を得る直流電源と、直流電源の出力を高周波出力に変換して放電灯Laへ供給するいわゆるハーフブリッジ型のインバータ回路とを備えた放電灯点灯装置が提供されている。ここに、直流電源は、交流電源Vsを整流するダイオードブリッジよりなる整流回路DBと、整流回路DBの出力電圧を平滑する平滑コンデンサC1 とからなる。また、インバータ回路は、MOSFETよりなる一対のスイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 の直列回路を平滑コンデンサC1 に並列接続し、インダクタL1 と共振用コンデンサC2 と直流カット用のコンデンサC3 との直列回路を一方のスイッチング素子Q2 に並列接続し、共振用コンデンサC2 に放電灯Laを並列接続した構成となっている。この構成においては、いわゆるHVIC(High Voltage IC )よりなるインバータ制御用集積回路10によって両スイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 を同時にオンにしないように高周波で交互にオンオフさせるように制御し、平滑コンデンサC1 から放電灯Laに電力を供給する状態と、コンデンサC3 を電源として放電灯Laに電力を供給する状態とを繰り返すことで、放電灯Laに高周波の交番電流を流すようになっている。

インバータ制御用集積回路10は、両スイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 を同時にオンにしないように高周波で交互にオンオフさせるための駆動信号を与える機能と、放電灯La(負荷)の異常などを検出してインバータ回路の発振を停止させるもしくは間欠発振に変更するなどの制御を行う機能とを備えている。なお、インバータ制御用集積回路10と各スイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 のゲートとの間にはそれぞれゲート抵抗R1 ,R2 が挿入され、各スイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 のゲート・ソース間にはそれぞれ抵抗R3 ,R4 が接続してある。各ゲート抵抗R1 ,R2 は、それぞれスイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 のスイッチング損失とサージ電圧とから適当な値に設定してある(ゲート抵抗R1 ,R2 の抵抗値が小さいほどスイッチング時間は短くなりスイッチング損失は低くなるが、一方、ゲート抵抗R1 ,R2 の抵抗値が小さくなるとスイッチング時の電流変化率di/dtが高くなりサージ電圧が高くなる)。

ここにおいて、図29に示した回路構成では、スイッチング素子Q1 がオンの時には、スイッチング素子Q1 のソースの電位が平滑コンデンサC1 の高電位側端の電位と略同電位になるので、インバータ制御用集積回路10においてスイッチング素子Q1 が接続されているピンに高電圧が印加される。
ところで、インバータ制御用集積回路10のパッケージは、特に高密度を必要としないので低コスト化などのために、パッケージの形態としては、2.54mmのピッチで並んだリードが長方形のパッケージ本体の長辺部側面より下方に延びたDIP(Dual Inline Package)が多い。このようなDIPを採用したインバータ制御用集積回路10では、例えば図30(a)に示すように、プリント基板30上でスイッチング素子Q1 が駆動信号配線LD を介して接続されるリードよりなる一対のピン(つまり、スイッチング素子Q1 のゲートGが駆動信号配線LD 及びゲート抵抗R1 を介して接続される24番ピン及びスイッチング素子Q1 のソースSが駆動信号配線LD を介して接続される23番ピン)と、スイッチング素子Q2 が駆動信号配線LD を介して接続されるリードよりなる一対のピン(つまり、スイッチング素子Q2 のゲートGが駆動信号配線LD 及びゲート抵抗R2 を介して接続される14番ピン及びスイッチング素子Q2 のソースSが駆動信号配線LD を介して接続される13番ピン)との間に空きピン(パッケージ本体内のICと接続されず電気的に開放されたピン)を設けることによって、スイッチング素子Q1 が接続されるピンと他のピンとの絶縁距離を確保するようになっている。なお、プリント基板30は図30(b)に示す断面略コ字形のケース1に収納され、図示しないケース蓋によって覆われる。また、図30(b)中の1aはケース1の側壁を示す。

要するに、図29に示した従来の放電灯点灯装置においては、スイッチング素子Q1 のゲートGに接続されるピンとソースSに接続されるピンとは高電位になるので、スイッチング素子Q1 を接続するためのピンは図30(a)に示すようにインバータ制御用集積回路10のパッケージ本体の長手方向に平行な一方の長辺部の一端側に配置してあり、その近傍のピン(図示例では8番ピン、9番ピン、10番ピン)については空きピンとしてあり、上記一方の長辺部の他端側にスイッチング素子Q2 のゲートGに接続されるピンとソースSに接続されるピンとが配置されている。ここに、両スイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 のプリント基板30における実装位置は、ノイズの発生を抑制するために駆動信号配線LD をできるだけ短くして配線のインダクタンスを小さくするとともに、両スイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 で駆動信号配線LD の長さが略同じになるように決められている。

ところで、近年、省資源化などを目的として照明器具の小型化・軽量化が行われており、照明器具の小型化・軽量化を実現するためにプリント基板30の小型化・軽量化も図られている。
このため、プリント基板30の短手方向の幅が図30(a)に示した場合よりも小さいなどの理由のために図30(a),(b)に示したような配置ができない場合には、例えば図31(a),(b)に示すように、スイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 を立設することによって駆動信号配線LD を極力短くするように工夫されている。

また、プリント基板30が収納されるケース1の側壁1aの高さが低いなどの理由のために図31に示したような配置ができない場合には、例えば図32に示すようにスイッチング素子Q1 とスイッチング素子Q2 とを互いのリードの導出面同士が対向するように配置し、各スイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 の駆動信号配線LD の長さを極力短くするように工夫されている。

また、図33に示すように、スイッチング素子Q1 とインバータ制御用集積回路10とスイッチング素子Q2 とをプリント基板30の短手方向に沿って直線状に配置したものもある。この構成では、インバータ制御用集積回路10のパッケージ本体の一方の長辺部にスイッチング素子Q1 を接続するための一対のピン(スイッチング素子Q1 のゲートGが12番ピンに接続され、スイッチング素子Q1 のソースSが11番ピンに接続されている)が配置され、他方の長辺部にスイッチング素子Q2 を接続するための一対のピン(スイッチング素子Q2 のゲートGが14番ピンに接続され、スイッチング素子Q2 のソースSが13番ピンに接続されている)を配置してある。

また、プリント基板30の短手方向の幅が図33に示した場合よりも小さいなどの理由のために図33に示したような配置ができない場合には、例えば図34に示すように、スイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 を立設することによって駆動信号配線LD の長さを極力短くするように工夫されている。
なお、各スイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 は非常に発熱しやすいから、図30ないし図34のいずれの構成においてもスイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 に発生する熱を外部へ放散させるための放熱板(図示せず)が設けられる。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
ところで、図32に示したプリント基板30への配置例では、プリント基板30の短手方向の幅が比較的小さな場合でも駆動信号配線LD の長さを極力短くしたままインバータ制御用集積回路10及び両スイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 を配置することができるが、スイッチング素子Q1 を接続するための駆動信号配線LD とスイッチング素子Q2 を接続するための駆動信号配線LD とが相互に結合しないようにし且つ両スイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 の発熱による熱がインバータ制御用集積回路10へ与える影響を少なくするためには、プリント基板30の長手方向に沿ってプリント基板30の長手方向の一端側からスイッチング素子Q1 、インバータ制御用集積回路10、スイッチング素子Q2 の順に配置する必要があり、プリント基板30の長手方向の寸法が長くなってしまうという問題があった。また、両スイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 間の距離が大きくなるので、軽量化のためにはスイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 毎に放熱板を設ける必要があり、部品点数が増えてコストが増加するという問題があった。

また、図34に示したプリント基板30への配置例では、プリント基板30の短手方向に沿ってスイッチング素子Q1 、インバータ制御用集積回路10、スイッチング素子Q2 の順に配置する必要があるので、プリント基板30の短手方向の幅がさらに小さい場合には、配置が難しいという問題があった。また、図34に示した配置例では、両スイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 の間にインバータ制御用制集積回路10が介在するので、スイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 毎に放熱板を設ける必要があり、部品点数が増えてコストが増加するという問題があった。

本発明は上記事由に鑑みて為されたものであり、その目的は、耐ノイズ性に優れ回路部品の実装スペースの縮小化を実現できる放電灯点灯装置を提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
請求項1の発明は、上記目的を達成するために、直流電源と、直流電源の出力端間に接続される一対のスイッチング素子の直列回路を具備し両スイッチング素子を高周波で交互にオンオフすることによって直流電源の出力を交流に変換して放電灯へ供給するインバータ回路と、前記両スイッチング素子のオンオフを制御するインバータ制御用集積回路と、直流電源、インバータ回路、インバータ制御用集積回路が実装される矩形板状のプリント基板と、該プリント基板が収納されるケースとを備えた放電灯点灯装置であって、インバータ制御用集積回路のパッケージ本体を長方形として前記両スイッチング素子をそれぞれ駆動するための駆動信号配線を接続するリードをパッケージ本体の互いに異なる長辺部から導出されたリードに設定し、前記両スイッチング素子をプリント基板の短手方向に沿って離間して配設するとともに、インバータ制御用集積回路をプリント基板に長手方向同士が一致し且つプリント基板の長手方向に沿って前記インバータ制御用集積回路と前記両スイッチング素子とが位置するように配設して成ることを特徴とするものであり、インバータ制御用集積回路と両スイッチング素子とがプリント基板の長手方向に沿って配設され且つ両スイッチング素子がプリント基板の短手方向に沿って配設されているので、プリント基板の長手方向の寸法を小さくすることができるとともに両スイッチング素子を立設することなしにプリント基板の短手方向の寸法を小さくすることが可能になり、インバータ制御用集積回路のパッケージ本体を長方形として前記両スイッチング素子をそれぞれ駆動するための駆動信号配線を接続するリードをパッケージ本体の互いに異なる長辺部から導出されたリードに設定していることにより、駆動信号配線を短くすることが可能になり、駆動信号配線へのノイズの重畳を抑制しつつプリント基板への実装スペースを従来に比べて縮小化することが可能になる。また、両スイッチング素子をプリント基板の短手方向に沿って離間して配設するとともに、インバータ制御用集積回路をプリント基板に長手方向同士が一致し且つ長手方向に沿って両スイッチング素子が位置するように配設してあることにより、両スイッチング素子間の距離を比較的短くすることができ、しかも両スイッチング素子間にインバータ制御用集積回路が存在することもないから、両スイッチング素子で放熱板を共用することができ、部品点数の増加を防ぐことができる。

請求項2の発明は、請求項1の発明において、インバータ制御用集積回路に外部からの調光信号に基づいて前記両スイッチング素子の駆動周波数を変化させることにより放電灯の出力を制御する機能を付加するとともに、プリント基板の長手方向の一端側に前記調光信号が入力される調光信号入力端子部を配設し、調光信号入力端子部からインバータ制御用集積回路への調光信号配線と前記駆動信号配線とが交差しないように調光信号配線を接続するリードを設定しているので、調光信号配線と前記駆動信号配線との間のクロストークを軽減することができ、調光信号配線へのノイズの重畳を抑制することができるから、インバータ制御用集積回路において調光信号を正確に受信することができ、放電灯を安定して調光できて放電灯のちらつきを防止することができる。

請求項3の発明は、請求項2の発明において、交流電源に接続される整流回路と整流回路の出力電圧をチョッパ用スイッチング素子のオンオフによってチョッピングして平滑コンデンサの両端に所定の直流電圧を得るチョッパ回路とで前記直流電源を構成し、インバータ制御用集積回路にチョッパ回路の起動のタイミングを制御する機能を付加し、インバータ制御用集積回路からチョッパ回路へのタイミング制御用配線と前記調光信号配線と前記駆動信号配線とが交差しないようにタイミング制御用配線を接続するリードを設定しているので、チョッパ回路を設けたことにより、インバータ回路の電源となる平滑コンデンサの両端電圧の制御が容易になってインバータ回路の出力制御が容易になり、また、タイミング制御用配線と前記調光信号配線と前記駆動信号配線とが交差しないようにタイミング制御用配線を接続するリードを設定していることにより、各配線間のクロストークを軽減することができ、前記調光信号配線へのノイズの重畳を抑制することができるから、インバータ制御用集積回路において調光信号を正確に受信することができ、放電灯を安定して調光できて放電灯のちらつきを防止することができる。また、タイミング制御用配線へのノイズの重畳を抑制することができることにより、インバータ制御用集積回路によるチョッパ回路の起動のタイミングを安定させることができる。

請求項4の発明は、請求項3の発明において、インバータ制御用集積回路のパッケージの形態を表面実装パッケージとし、プリント基板においてインバータ制御用集積回路が実装された面と反対側の面にプリント基板を挟んでインバータ制御用集積回路と対向する位置に前記平滑コンデンサを配設しているので、インバータ制御用集積回路のパッケージの形態を表面実装パッケージとすることにより、インバータ制御用集積回路の実装高さを低くできて実装スペースの縮小化を図ることができるとともに、インバータ制御用集積回路と他の部品とを接続するための配線のインダクタンスを小さくすることができ、しかも平滑コンデンサをインバータ制御用集積回路が実装された面と反対側の面にプリント基板を挟んで配設していることにより、実装スペースを有効利用することができてプリント基板の長手方向の寸法を短くすることが可能になって実装スペースの縮小化を図ることができる。

請求項5の発明は、請求項3又は請求項4の発明において、前記チョッパ用スイッチング素子のオンオフを制御するチョッパ制御用集積回路を備え、プリント基板の長手方向の一端側から長手方向に沿ってチョッパ用スイッチング素子、チョッパ制御用集積回路、インバータ制御用集積回路、スイッチング素子の順に配設しているので、各部品間を接続するための配線の引回しを容易にすることができ、各配線間のクロストークを容易に抑制することができる。

請求項6の発明は、請求項1ないし請求項5の発明において、前記各スイッチング素子がMOSFETよりなるので、前記各スイッチング素子としてバイポーラトランジスを用いる場合に比べて高速なスイッチングが可能になる。

【発明の実施の形態】
(実施形態1)
本実施形態の放電灯点灯装置は、図2に示すように、商用電源よりなる交流電源Vsにより直流電圧を得る直流電源と、直流電源の出力を高周波出力に変換して放電灯Laへ供給するいわゆるハーフブリッジ型のインバータ回路とを備えている。ここに、直流電源は、交流電源Vsを整流するダイオードブリッジよりなる整流回路DBと、整流回路DBの出力電圧を平滑する平滑コンデンサC1 とからなる。また、インバータ回路は、MOSFETよりなる一対のスイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 の直列回路を平滑コンデンサC1 に並列接続し、共振負荷回路Xと直流カット用のコンデンサC3 との直列回路を一方のスイッチング素子Q2 に並列接続した構成となっている。

共振負荷回路Xは、例えば図3に示すように、インダクタL1 と共振用のコンデンサC2 との直列回路を備え、インダクタL1 とコンデンサC2 との接続点がコンデンサC4 を介してバランサT1 の中点に接続され、バランサT1 の両側巻線それぞれに放電灯La1 ,La2 の一方のフィラメントが接続され、各放電灯La1 ,La2 の他方のフィラメントがコンデンサC2 の一端とコンデンサC3 (図2参照)との接続点に接続されている。ところで、インダクタL1 はトランスの一次巻線により構成されており、該一次巻線に磁気結合された3つの二次巻線n21,n22,n23が一対の放電灯La1 ,La2 の予熱巻線を構成している。すなわち、一つの二次巻線n21がコンデンサCb及びランプ線用端子部6を介して放電灯La1 の一方のフィラメントに接続され、他の二次巻線n23がコンデンサCg及びランプ線用端子部6を介して放電灯La2 の一方のフィラメントに接続され、残りの二次巻線n22がコンデンサCe及びランプ線用端子部6を介して放電灯La1 の他方のフィラメントに接続されるとともに、コンデンサCd及びランプ線用端子部6を介して放電灯La2 の他方のフィラメントに接続されている。なお、共振負荷回路Xの構成は図3の構成に限定されるものではなく、例えば、図4に示すように、図3の構成からコンデンサC4 をなくした構成でもよく、放電灯La1 ,La2 の数も2つに限定されるものではない。

HVICよりなるインバータ制御用集積回路10は、両スイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 を交互にオンオフさせるための駆動信号を与える機能と、駆動信号の発振周波数(周期)を設定する機能と、放電灯La1 ,La2 よりなる各負荷の寿命末期や負荷外れなどの異常を検出信号により検出してインバータ回路の発振を停止させる若しくは間欠発振などの制御を行う機能とを備えている。

以下、本実施形態の放電灯点灯装置の定常動作を説明する。
本実施形態の放電灯点灯装置は、インバータ制御用集積回路10によって両スイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 を同時にオンにならないように高周波で交互にオンオフすることにより放電灯La1 ,La2 を高周波点灯させるものである。つまり、両スイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 を交互にオンオフすることにより、平滑コンデンサC1 から各放電灯La1 ,La2 に電力を供給する状態と、コンデンサC3 を電源として各放電灯La1 ,La2 に電力を供給する状態とを繰り返すことで、各放電灯La1 ,La2 に高周波の交番電流を流すようになっている。しかして、スイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 をスイッチングする駆動周波数を変化させると、各放電灯La1 ,La2 へ供給される電圧を変化させることができ、予熱、始動、全点灯(定格点灯)の各動作が可能になるのである。

さらに説明すると、スイッチング素子Q1 がオン、スイッチング素子Q2 がオフの状態では、平滑コンデンサC1 の電圧を電源として、平滑コンデンサC1 →スイッチング素子Q1 →共振負荷回路X→コンデンサC3 →平滑コンデンサC1 の経路で電流が流れ、コンデンサC3 が充電される。
スイッチング素子Q1 がオフになると、共振負荷回路XのインダクタL1 の蓄積エネルギによる回生電流が流れる。このときは、インダクタL1 →コンデンサC2 →コンデンサC3 →スイッチング素子Q2 の内蔵ダイオード→インダクタL1 の経路で回生電流が流れる。なお、スイッチング素子Q1 がオフになるとスイッチング素子Q2 はオンになる。

インダクタL1 による回生電流が流れなくなると、コンデンサC3 を電源として、コンデンサC3 →コンデンサC2 →インダクタL1 →スイッチング素子Q2 →コンデンサC3 という経路で電流が流れてコンデンサC3 の電荷が放電される。このとき、コンデンサC2 の両端に発生する電圧の極性が反転し放電灯La1 ,La2 に流れる電流の向きが反転する。

その後、スイッチング素子Q2 がオフになると、共振負荷回路XのインダクタL1 の蓄積エネルギによる回生電流が流れる。このときは、インダクタL1 →スイッチング素子Q1 の内蔵ダイオード→平滑コンデンサC1 →コンデンサC3 →コンデンサC2 →インダクタL1 の経路で回生電流が流れる。なお、スイッチング素子Q2 がオフになるとスイッチング素子Q1 はオンになる。

インダクタL1 による回生電流が流れなくなると、平滑コンデンサC1 を電源として電流を流す状態に戻り、定常状態では上述の動作を繰り返すことになる。したがって、両スイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 を高周波で交互にオンオフすることにより放電灯La1 ,La2 に交番した電流が流れるのである。
ところで、本実施形態におけるインバータ制御用集積回路10のパッケージの形態は、薄形の長方形のパッケージ本体の側面の対向2面(長辺部)よりリード(ピン)が導出されたSOP(Small Outline Package )であって、プリント基板30の電極上にソルダリングで取り付けられている(SOPは、表面実装パッケージ群の中に属している)。図1はプリント基板30におけるインバータ制御用集積回路10と両スイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 との位置関係を説明するための概略説明図であって、実際には、図7に示すようにインバータ制御用集積回路10はスイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 が実装されている面とは異なる面に実装されている。また、ゲート抵抗R1 ,R2 、抵抗R3 ,R4 はインバータ制御用集積回路10が実装されている側の面に実装されている。

また、両スイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 はプリント基板30の短手方向に沿って離間して直線状に配設してある。インバータ制御用集積回路10のパッケージ本体はプリント基板30に長手方向が一致し且つ長手方向に沿って両スイッチング素子Q1 ,Q2 が位置するように配設している。
この構成では、図1に示すように、インバータ制御用集積回路10のパッケージ本体の一方の長辺部にスイッチング素子Q1 を接続するためのリードよりなる一対のピン(スイッチング素子Q1 のゲートGが駆動信号配線LD 及びゲート抵抗R1 を介して12番ピンに接続され、スイッチング素子Q1 のソースSが駆動信号配線LD を介して11番ピンに接続されている)が配置され、他方の長辺部にスイッチング素子Q2 を接続するための一対のピン(スイッチング素子Q2 のゲートGが駆動信号配線LD 及びゲート抵抗R2 を介して14番ピンに接続され、スイッチング素子Q2 のソースSが駆動信号配線LD を介して13番ピンに接続されている)を配置してあり、スイッチング素子Q1 が接続されるピンとスイッチング素子Q2 が接続されるピンとで絶縁距離を確保している。また、スイッチングQ1 が接続され高電位になることがある11番ピン及び12番ピンの近傍の10番ピン、9番ピン、8番ピンは空きピンにしてある。

本実施形態の放電灯点灯装置は、商用電源のような交流電源Vsをダイオードブリッジよりなる整流回路DBで整流し、整流回路DBの出力を昇圧型のチョッパ回路で昇圧することにより直流電源を得て、該直流電源をインバータ回路により高周波電力に変換して共振負荷回路Xの放電灯La1 ,La2 (図3参照)に高周波電力を供給するものである。なお、実施形態1と同様の構成要素には同一の符号を付してある。
チョッパ回路は、整流回路DBの出力端間に接続されるインダクタL2 とMOSFETよりなるチョッパ用スイッチング素子Q3 との直列回路と、チョッパ用スイッチング素子Q3 の両端に接続されるダイオードD1 と平滑コンデンサC1 との直列回路とを備えている。チョッパ回路は、チョッパ制御用集積回路11によってチョッパ用スイッチング素子Q3 を高周波でスイッチングして整流回路DBの出力をチョッピングし、チョッパ用スイッチング素子Q3 のオンのときにインダクタL2 に蓄積されたエネルギをチョッパ用スイッチング素子Q3 のオフのときにダイオードD1 を介して放出するとともに、ダイオードD1 を介して出力されるチョッピング電圧を平滑コンデンサC1 で平滑するものである。

本実施形態では、チョッパ制御用集積回路11によってチョッパ用スイッチング素子Q3 のオンオフを繰り返すことにより、平滑コンデンサC1 の両端電圧を所定電圧に昇圧するようになっている。したがって、本実施形態では、チョッパ回路を設けたことによって、インバータ回路の電源となる平滑コンデンサC1 の両端電圧の制御が容易になって、インバータ回路の出力制御が実施形態1の構成よりも一層容易になる。しかも、整流回路DBの出力端側とインバータ回路との間にチョッパ回路を設けることにより、交流電源Vsから整流回路DBへの入力電流を高周波的に流し続けることができるから、入力電流に休止期間が生じないのであり、交流電源Vsと整流回路DBとの間に簡単な高周波阻止フィルタを挿入するだけで、入力電流波形を連続的なものにすることができ、入力電流歪を低減することが可能である。チョッパ制御用集積回路11としては、例えばモトローラ社製の汎用ICであるMC33262を用いればよい。なお、MC33262は、外付けの抵抗(図示せず)とコンデンサ(図示せず)との値で発振周波数を決めるようになっている。
