Description
【0001】

[Industrial application fields]
The present invention relates to a video camera and is devised so that accurate and stable white balance control can be performed when actual recording is started.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Video cameras control white balance so that a white reproduced image can be obtained when a white subject is photographed. In the white balance control, the gain of the red signal circuit and the blue signal circuit of the camera is adjusted based on the green signal.
[0003]
The image integration type auto white balance circuit in the auto white balance (AWB) circuit performs control based on the knowledge that when the color signal component of the entire imaging screen is integrated, an achromatic color is obtained.
[0004]
In the image integration type auto white balance circuit, the color signal components are integrated. At this time, the whole screen integration type that integrates all the color signals of the entire screen and the screen are divided into multiple areas. There is a split screen integration type that takes in the color signal and integrates it every time.
[0005]
Here, an outline of the split screen integration type will be described with reference to FIG. As shown in FIG. 3, the screen is divided into, for example, 20 (= 5 × 4) areas (references a1 to a20 are given to indicate each area. In practice, the screen is divided to increase accuracy. Although there are many numbers, in order to simplify the explanation, an example of 20 divisions will be described.) In the first vertical scanning period (hereinafter abbreviated as “V period”), the signal component in area a1 is integrated to obtain integrated value i1, and in the second V period, the signal component in area a2 is integrated to obtain integrated value i2. In the same manner, the integration calculation of the areas a3, a4, a5... Is continued every 1V period, and the integration value i20 of the area a20 is obtained in the 20th V period. Then, data that is substantially white is selected from the integral values i1 to i20, the color temperature of the subject is detected using the selected data group, and white balance control is performed. Since the white balance control is performed by selecting data in an area that is substantially white as described above, the divided screen integration type is generally more accurate than the full screen integration type.
[0006]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
By the way, an integrator of an IC mounted on a video camera incorporating the present invention can perform an integration operation only once per 1 V period (= 1 field period). Therefore, in the split screen integration type auto white balance, it takes time of “1 V period × number of divided areas” to perform one white balance control, and there is a problem that it cannot follow a rapid change in color temperature. . In the full screen integration type, data calculation for white balance control can be performed in a 1V period.
[0007]
An object of the present invention is to provide a video camera capable of performing accurate auto white balance control immediately after the start of recording in a video camera having a power save mode.
[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The video camera of the present invention that solves the above problems is as follows.
Even if the power switch is turned on, the actual recording is not performed when the recording button is not turned on, and when the recording button is turned on while the power switch is turned on, the actual recording is performed after a predetermined time has elapsed. In a video camera with a power save mode that starts
When the recording button of the video camera is turned on with the power switch turned on, auto white balance control is performed in the first mode in which auto white balance control is performed at a high speed but with low accuracy for a predetermined period after the recording button is turned on. After that, the auto white balance control is performed in the second mode in which the auto white balance control is performed at a low speed but with high accuracy .
[0009]
In this case, the predetermined period is a predetermined time set in advance,
Or, the predetermined period is the time from when the recording button is turned on until the actual recording starts,
Alternatively, the actual start of recording starts on the condition that the iris is stabilized.
[0010]
The video camera of the present invention

Based on the integration value output from the integration means, it is determined whether the average of the image on the screen outputting the image signal is substantially white, and the white balance control signal according to the integration value when it is determined to be substantially white Control means for outputting
An auto white balance device equipped with a white balance circuit that controls the white balance by adjusting the level of the primary color signal according to the white balance control signal is installed.
The control means selects the full screen mode in the first mode, and selects the screen division mode in the second mode.

The substantially white determination unit 33 determines whether or not the image of the divided area from which the signal is extracted is substantially white based on the values of the ratio IR / IG and the ratio IB / IG. This determination is performed as follows. First, a black body radiation approximate curve CBL and an auto white balance tracking range A1 as shown in FIG. The black body radiation approximate curve CBL images a “white” subject under light sources having different color temperatures, and the ratio IR / IG, of the integrated values of the signal levels of the primary color signals R, G, and B in the imaging signal. It is obtained by determining the correlation of IB / IG. A tracking range A1 for appropriate white balance is provided above and below the black body radiation approximate curve CBL, and when the ratio IR / IG, IB / IG enters the tracking range A1, the area from which the signal is extracted Is determined to be substantially white. Then, only the signal ratios IR / IG and IB / IG obtained from the areas determined to be substantially white are input to the averaging

When it is determined that the average of all areas of one screen is substantially white during full-screen photometry (P41, P42, P43), a full-screen integration type operation is performed and white balance control is performed ( P44, P45), and thereafter, the screen shifts to the screen division metering mode (P46, route (2) in FIG. 8). That is, a split screen command is issued from the screen split control unit 39, and the screen split
[0039]
For this reason, the
In the split screen integration operation, the calculation time is as long as “1 field period × number of divided areas”, but white balance control is performed using only the signal components in the area that is substantially white, so accurate white balance adjustment is performed. It can be performed.
[0040]
When the number of areas determined to be substantially white when the substantially white determination from area a1 to area a20 is completed is 10% or less of the total number of areas (P51, route (4) in FIG. 8), white balance control is performed. The operation is stopped (P55), and the operation returns to the full screen integration type operation (P55, route (5) in FIG. 8).

After all, in this embodiment, when the shooting starts or when the average color of the shooting target is not substantially white, rough and high-speed white balance control is performed by the operation of the full screen integration type, and the average of the shooting target color is substantially white. Sometimes, white balance control with high accuracy is performed by a split screen integration type operation.

In the above description, the full screen integration type operation was performed in period I and the split screen integration type operation was performed in period II. However, in both periods I and II, the split screen integration type operation was performed. May be reduced (for example, 4 areas), and the number of divided areas may be increased (for example, 20 areas) in period II.
[0048]
The length of the period I may be fixed to a certain time after the recording start button is input. Furthermore, the actual recording start time may be determined as a certain time after the iris is stabilized.
[0049]
In any case, since the values of the white balance control signals R cont and B cont are calculated at high speed in the period I, the values of R cont and B cont are stable in the second half of the period I, and at the beginning of the period II The values of the white balance control signals R cont and B cont to be output are those that allow accurate white balance control.

【The invention's effect】
As specifically described with the embodiments above, according to the present invention, stable and accurate white balance control can be performed when actual recording is started.
