明室下で露光装置の専用マガジンに装填することができるロール状感光材料は、その周面及び側面に遮光包装が施された包装体の形態で供給されている。これらのロール状感光材料包装体は、マガジンに装填後、ロール状感光材料の周面を遮光したリーダーを引張ることによって、リーダーと側面を遮光したフランジとの接合部が破断され、マガジンのスリットから感光材料が引き出されるようになっている。

本発明の上記目的は、巻芯に巻かれたロール状感光材料を、該ロール状感光材料の周面を遮光するリーダーと、側面を遮光するフランジによって明室装填用に包装されたロール状感光材料包装体において、前記フランジが前記巻芯の中空部に挿入される挿入部と前記ロール状感光材料の側面を遮光する側面板とからなり、前記挿入部の前記巻芯の中空内壁と接触する周面に挿入方向と平行にかつ一直線上に突起片と突起片の間隔が4mm以上である不連続な突起部を有し、且つ前記突起部を構成する巻芯の中空部に接する突起片の合計の長さが前記挿入部の挿入方向長さに対して30%以上であることを特徴とする明室装填用ロール状感光材料包装体によって達成された。

明室装填用に包装されたロール状感光材料包装体を2種類用意した。1つは、図1に示す本発明のフランジを用いたもので、もう1つは、図3に示す従来のフランジを用いたものである。感光材料は紙製巻芯に巻かれた幅60cm、巻長さ30mのスキャナー用フィルム感光材料である。フランジの材質はカーボンブラックを含有したABS樹脂で、リーダーはカーボンブラックを含有した厚み100μmのポリエチレンテレフタレートフィルムである。
