本発明は,車両等に搭載した内燃機関において,そのエアクリーナに大気空気をエアダクト管を介して取り入れる装置に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
一般に,大気空気をエアクリーナに,エアダクト管を介して取り入れる場合,前記エアダクト管の先端を,可能な限り内燃機関から離れた分岐に開口することにより,大気空気を温度の低い状態で取り入れるように構成すべきであり,このためには,前記エアダクト管の長さは,可成り長くなるから,その設置のスペースが必要であるばかりか,前記エアダクト管を介しての大気空気の取り入れに吸気騒音が発生するのであった。

そこで,従来,前者に対しては,例えば,特開平8−326614号公報等に記載されているように,内燃機関の長手方向の一端部にエアクリーナを配設し,このエアクリーナへの大気空気取り入れ用のエアダクト管を,内燃機関の上方に,その長手方向に延びるように配設することによってスペースの有効利用を図る一方,後者に対しては,例えば,実開平1−119873号公報及び実開昭61−192560号公報等に記載されているように,前記エアダクト管の途中に,レゾネータを接続するか,或いは,サイドブランチを接続することによって吸気騒音を低減するようにしている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかし,エアダクト管を内燃機関の上面に配設することは,このエアダクト管を内燃機関に対して着脱自在に支持するように構成しなければならず,部品の点数及び組み立て分解の手数が増大するという問題があり,また,エアダクトの途中にレゾネータ又はサイドブランチを接続するには,これらレゾネータ又はサイドブランチを配設するためのスペースを別に確保しなければならないことに加えて,これらレゾネータ又はサイドブランチを組み立てることの手数が増大するという問題があった。

本発明は,車両に搭載される内燃機関の上面には,内燃機関から騒音及び熱の飛散防止等を目的としてエンジンカバーが装着されている点に着目し,このエンジンカバーを利用して,前記した各問題を解消することを技術的課題とするものである。

この技術的課題を達成するため本発明は,
上面にオイルフィラーを備えた内燃機関を,走行車両における車体フレームに搭載し,この内燃機関の上面に,その全体を覆うエンジンカバーを取付ける一方,前記内燃機関におけるクランク軸方向の一端部に,当該内燃機関に対するエアクリーナを配設し,このエアクリーナへの大気空気取り入れ用エアダクト管を,前記内燃機関の上面と前記エンジンカバーとの間に,前記内燃機関におけるクランク軸の方向に延びるように配設し,このエアダクト管を前記エンジンカバーの下面に一体的に形成し,このエアダクト管の途中に接続されるレゾネータ又はサイドブランチを,前記エンジンカバーの下面に一体的に形成する一方,前記エンジンカバーのうち前記オイルフィラーに該当する部分に凹所を設けて,この凹所内に前記オイルフィラーを配設し,更に,前記エンジンカバーにおける各側面縁のうち走行方向に対して前側の側面縁には,当該前側側面縁のうち前記凹所の前側の部分に,前記凹所の下面より下方の部位まで垂れ下がるようにしたスカート片を一体に設ける。」

【発明の作用・効果】
このように,エアクリーナへのエアダクト管を,内燃機関の上面に取付けたエンジンカバーの下面に一体的に形成したことにより,内燃機関に対するエンジンカバーの取付けと同時に,前記エアダクト管を強固に支持できる一方,前記エンジンカバーの下面に,前記エアダクト管に対するレゾネータ又はサイドブランチを一体的に形成したことにより,エンジンカバーと内燃機関との間における隙間を,前記レゾネータ又はサイドブランチを配設することに有効に利用できると共に,前記レゾネータ又はサイドブランチを組み立てることを省略できる。

従って,本発明によると,エアクリーナへのエアダクト管を,内燃機関の上方に配設することに加えて,このエアダクト管に吸気騒音低減用のレゾネータ又はサイドブランチを設ける場合において,これらに要する部品点数を大幅に低減できると共に,組み立て分解の手数をも大幅に低減でき,且つ,スペースの縮小を図ることができ,その上,相互に補強することによって,軽量化を達成できる効果を有する。
