Description
【0001】
L=1/2λ (L:スリット長、λ:波長)

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Electromagnetic wave shielding present invention related to electromagnetic shielding structure for preventing leakage of electromagnetic wave at the connection between the optical module and the optical connector, in particular, to the resonance frequency of the optical connector insertion opening and a conventional approximately twice the frequency Concerning structure.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, in an optical communication system, an optical module is used to connect an optical fiber and an electronic circuit. Usually, an optical module is configured by housing a light emitting element (such as a laser diode or a light emitting diode) and a light receiving element (such as a photo diode) in a package.
[0003]
Usually, since the core diameter of an optical fiber is about 8-50 micrometers, when connecting an optical fiber, it is necessary to position an optical axis correctly in a joining position. In the optical module configured as described above, in order to facilitate the connection between the optical fiber and the electronic circuit, an optical connector of a pin fitting position alignment method (MT type, MPO type, etc.) is used.
[0004]
FIG. 9 shows a conventional optical module and optical connector. The optical module 1 has a
The optical connector 3 includes ferrules 7a and 7b provided with guide pins for alignment by pin fitting.
[0005]
In such an optical module, when signal light is transmitted and received between the light emitting element or the light receiving element and the optical fiber, electromagnetic waves are generated from these optical elements, particularly the light emitting elements. These electromagnetic waves leak from the
In addition, electromagnetic waves generated in other electronic circuits or the like provided in the same housing as the optical module 1 may leak to the outside from the
[0006]
As shown in FIG. 10 (a), when there is a slit in the conductor,
L = 1 / 2λ (L: slit length, λ: wavelength)
The slit antenna (or slot antenna) is formed by resonating at a frequency satisfying the above. The slit antenna can be replaced with the equivalent magnetic current antenna shown in (b), and this equivalent magnetic current antenna is equivalently replaced with the complementary plate antenna shown in (c).
As shown in (d), since this antenna works efficiently, if there is a slit in the conductor, the electromagnetic shielding effect is significantly reduced.
[0007]
The relationship between the wavelength λ of electromagnetic waves and the frequency ν (Hz) is
ν = c / λ (c: speed of radio wave)
Therefore, the shorter the wavelength λ, that is, the shorter the slit length L, the higher the resonance frequency. Therefore, it is necessary to shorten the slit length in order to prevent resonance from occurring at a low frequency.
In other words, it can be said that electromagnetic waves with shorter wavelengths are more likely to leak out of the housing from the opening.
[0008]
As a first conventional technique for preventing electromagnetic wave leakage in an optical module, there is an “electromagnetic wave countermeasure structure for an optical module” disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 2000-121885.
In the first prior art, an electromagnetic wave blocking layer is provided between the optical module package and the ferrule or inside the package so that the electromagnetic wave generated inside the optical module is not leaked to the outside.
[0009]
As a second conventional technique, there is an “EMI shielded optical connector” disclosed in Japanese Utility Model Laid-Open No. 62-176808. The second conventional technique is a technique for preventing electromagnetic waves generated inside the optical module from leaking outside by providing a conductive layer on the outer periphery of the optical connector.
[0010]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, although the optical connector insertion opening is physically blocked by fitting the optical connector, the optical device case is made of plastic, so it is electromagnetically equivalent to the opening state. It is.
That is, the optical connector insertion opening is regarded as a slit even when the optical connector is fitted.
[0011]
Although the first conventional technique reduces electromagnetic waves leaking from the optical module by providing an electromagnetic wave blocking layer at the periphery of the package opening of the optical module, the leakage of electromagnetic waves from the optical connector insertion opening is reduced. It does not reduce.
In the second prior art, since the conductive layer and the casing are not in electrical contact, the conductive layer is in an electrically floating state. Therefore, since secondary radiation is generated from the conductive layer, the effect of preventing leakage of electromagnetic waves from the opening for inserting the optical connector has not been sufficiently obtained.
[0012]
Further, conventionally, when the optical module is not used, that is, when the optical module and the optical connector are not fitted, no measures for preventing leakage of electromagnetic waves from the optical connector insertion opening have been taken.
[0013]
The present invention has been made in view of such a problem, and an object of the present invention is to provide an electromagnetic shielding structure that prevents leakage of electromagnetic waves from an opening for inserting an optical connector.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an electromagnetic wave shielding structure that prevents leakage of electromagnetic waves from the optical connector insertion opening when the optical module is not used, that is, when the optical module and the optical connector are not fitted. [0023]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[First Embodiment]
1st Embodiment which implemented suitably the electromagnetic wave shield structure by this invention is described.
FIG. 1 shows an optical connector and an optical module according to the present embodiment.
The optical module 1 has a
The
[0024]
The optical connector 3 has ferrules 7 a and 7 b and a conductive band 5.
The ferrules 7a and 7b include guide pins for positioning by pin fitting.
For the conductive band 5, any material having conductivity can be applied. For example, metal, conductive plastic, plastic with a conductive coating applied on the surface, resin with a plating film, or the like can be applied. However, the effect of the present invention is preferably made of metal since the better the effect is obtained as the electrical resistance of the conductive band 5 is smaller. As the metal, any metal such as aluminum, copper, iron, and stainless steel can be applied.
In the present embodiment, the conductive band 5 and the connection portion 6 are brought into contact with each other for electrical connection. Therefore, when these materials are made of metal, a local battery is formed at the contact point. For this reason, it is preferable that these materials are made of stainless steel because corrosion can be prevented. Further, if the conductive band 5 is made of a base metal rather than the contact portion 6, the easily replaceable conductive band 5 is preferentially corroded, which is preferable.
[0025]
As shown in FIG. 2, the conductive band 5 is provided between the ferrules 7 a and 7 b and protrudes on both sides of the optical connector 3 so as to protrude wider than the width of the

FIG. 3 shows a state where the optical connector 3 and the optical module 1 are fitted. In a state where the optical connector 3 is fitted, both ends of the conductive band 5 are narrowed according to the width of the
[0027]
FIG. 4 shows a slit antenna formed in the
As shown in (b), when both ends of the conductive band 5 are in pressure contact with the contact portion 6, the slit antenna is substantially divided into two at the central portion in the longitudinal direction. The slit length of each slit antenna formed at this time is approximately half (L / 2) of the length in the longitudinal direction of the
Thus, when the optical connector 3 and the optical module 1 are fitted, both ends of the conductive band 5 are in electrical contact with the
Since the slit length is approximately halved, the value of the lowest frequency (basic resonance frequency) at which resonance occurs is approximately doubled, and the electromagnetic shielding effect is improved.
[0028]
[Second Embodiment]
A second embodiment in which the electromagnetic wave shielding structure according to the present invention is suitably implemented will be described.
FIG. 5 shows the optical module 1 and the optical module protective cap 8 according to the present embodiment. Since the optical module 1 according to the present embodiment is the same as the optical module 1 according to the first embodiment, the same reference numerals are used and description thereof is omitted.
The optical module protective cap 8 has a conductive band 5. The conductive band 5 is provided at the center of the optical module protective cap 8 in the longitudinal direction, and, like the first embodiment, projects over both sides wider than the width of the
[0029]
FIG. 6 shows a state in which the optical module 1 and the optical module protective cap 8 are fitted. In a state where the optical module protective cap 8 is fitted, both ends of the conductive band 5 are narrowed according to the width of the
It is considered that the slit length of the
As a result, similarly to the first embodiment, the frequency at which resonance occurs can be set to a value approximately twice that of the conventional one, and the shielding effect of electromagnetic waves is improved.
[0030]
[Third Embodiment]
A third embodiment in which the electromagnetic wave shielding structure according to the present invention is suitably implemented will be described.
FIG. 7A shows the optical module protective cap 8 according to the present embodiment.
The conductive band 5 provided in the optical module protective cap 8 has a shape branched in the middle, and a part thereof is incorporated in the ferrules 7a and 7b. Both ends of the conductive band 5 are in the form of leaf springs, and protrude from both sides of the optical module protective cap 8 so as to protrude wider than the width of the
Note that the conductive band 5 according to the present embodiment may not have an integral structure. For example, as shown in FIG. 7B, the conductive band 5 may be formed by inserting and fixing the band pieces 5 a and 5 b to the optical module protection cap 8. However, in this case, the band pieces 5a and 5b are brought into contact with each other to be in a conductive state.
The optical module protective cap 8 according to the present embodiment can be easily realized by making the conductive band 5 into a divided structure.
[0031]
FIG. 8 shows a slit antenna formed in the
The case where the optical module 1 and the optical module protection cap 8 are not fitted to (a) is shown. Similar to FIG. 4A, the slit length at this time is equal to the length (L) of the
The case where the optical module 1 and the optical module protective cap 8 are fitted to (b) is shown. Since the conductive band 5 of the present embodiment has a branch, when the conductive band 5 and the contact portion 6 are in pressure contact, the slit antenna is roughly divided into four equal parts in the longitudinal direction.
The slit length of each slit antenna formed at this time is approximately one-fourth (L / 4) of the longitudinal length of the
[0032]
Thus, when the optical module 1 and the optical module protective cap 8 are fitted, both ends of the conductive band 5 are in electrical contact with the
When the slit length is approximately ¼, the value of the lowest frequency (basic resonance frequency) at which resonance occurs is about four times, and the electromagnetic shielding effect is improved.
[0033]
In the case of the optical module protective cap as in this embodiment, since the optical fiber does not need to be arranged at a predetermined position, the conductive band can be formed in an arbitrary shape. Therefore, the slit length of the slit antenna formed in the opening for inserting the optical connector can be further shortened by branching the conductive band into two or more. For this reason, even when the optical module is not used, that is, when the optical connector is not connected, leakage of electromagnetic waves from the optical connector insertion port can be further reduced.
[0034]
Each of the above embodiments is an example of a preferred embodiment of the present invention, and the present invention is not limited to this.
For example, the number of the contact portions 6 to be arranged and the positions to be arranged are not limited to the illustrated configuration. The contact portion 6 may be integral with the
Alternatively, the shape or the like of the
[0035]
The shape of the conductive band 5 is not limited to the illustrated shape, and may be changed to any shape as long as the slit length of the slit antenna formed in the
Further, the present invention is not limited to the transmission / reception integrated optical connector shown in the embodiment, but can be applied to other optical connectors.
As described above, the present invention can be variously modified.
