Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a basket type carrier for packing products such as beverage bottles. In particular, the present invention relates to a basket type carrier for packing six products.
Background of the invention Basket-type carriers are commonly used for packaging beverage bottles. This typically includes a separate cell for each bottle from which the bottles can be easily removed, and a central handle panel to easily carry the package. Adjacent bottle contact is prevented by a horizontal divider and a central vertical divider to prevent bottle breakage. Typically this type of basket-type carrier, designed to hold six bottles, is made from a blank, to which side and end panels and a central handle panel are connected together in sequence, and an elongated rectangular arrangement And the cell dividing the lateral partition is formed from a flap that connects to the upper or lower edge of the central handle panel. In order to form the carrier, it is necessary to fold these flaps to a predetermined position before the end portions of the flaps are bonded to the side panel and the partition is held at the predetermined position.
One problem with this arrangement is that the divider flaps extend laterally from the panel section. The result is a web layout with a relatively wide spacing between blanks, which uses a large amount of material. Furthermore, since the dividing partition flaps are laid out in the horizontal direction, it is necessary to make the bonding work relatively complicated, and it is necessary to bend the cell dividing partition flaps of this arrangement configuration in place, so the speed of the moving web is compared. The cost of the carrier increases.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a six-bottle carrier that can be formed from a more efficient layout with regard to material use and the required adhesion pattern. Another object is to provide a carrier that can adequately protect the packaged bottle.
As is typical in brief summary <br/> basket type carrier of the invention, the carrier of the present invention comprises a bottom panel, side panels, end panels and a central handle panel. The handle panel is connected to the end panel at opposite ends, and the partition panel extends between the handle panel and the side panel. The partition flap connected to the upper edge of each side panel in a bent state is bonded to the inner surface of the side panel, and the two partition panels are connected to each partition flap. Each partition flap includes a cut-off portion, from which one partition panel is formed.
Each partition panel is connected in a folded state to a partition flap at one end and to an adhesive flap whose other end is bonded to a handle panel. Moreover, it is preferable that the partition panel which is not formed from the cut-off part of the partition flap includes a cut-off part which is connected to the edge of the partition flap in a bent state and forms an adhesive flap of another partition panel.
The carrier is formed from an elongated blank that includes an end panel at one end and a handle panel section at the other end. The blank can be quickly folded and glued to form a folded carrier that can then be opened during the packing operation.
These and other features and objects of the present invention will be readily ascertained from the following detailed description of the preferred embodiment.

In this figure, only the partition on the side of the handle panel facing the observer is visible, but it will be understood that a similar partition is also arranged on the opposite side of the handle panel. The handle panel includes a handle grip opening 24. Other features of the carrier indicated by other reference numbers in this figure will be referred to below in other figures.
Referring to FIG. 2, reference numbers similar to those used in FIG. 1 indicate similar elements, the blank 26 is illustrated as a generally elongated rectangular shape, and the bottom panel flap and handle flap are shown in the body portion. Extends laterally from At one end of the blank, a partial end panel flap 28 connects to the side panel section 16 at a fold line 30, which connects to the end panel section 34 by a fold line 32. The other side panel section 18 is connected to the end panel section 34 by a fold line 36 and to the end panel section 38 by a fold line 40. At the other end of the blank, the handle panel section 12 is connected to the end panel section 38 by a fold line 42 and to the mounting flap 44 by a fold line 46. Fold line 42 is interrupted by slit 48 and defines the extent of end panel section 38. Similarly, the fold line 46 is interrupted by the slit 50 and defines the area of the adhesive flap 44. Connected at the fold line 52 to the upper edge of the handle panel section 12 is a handle panel extension 54 which, like the handle panel section 12, includes a handle opening 24.
Connected to the upper edge of the side panel section 16 by intermittent fold lines 56 is a divider flap 58. The divider flap includes two intermittent vertical fold lines 60 and 62, the former extending downwardly to align with the fold line 30 and the latter extending downward to the outer end of the fold line 56. It is the slits 64 and 66 that interrupt the fold lines 60 and 62 and extend laterally from the fold lines, respectively. Further, a continuous slit 68 extends from the partition flap 58, passes over the upper fold line section 62 and returns to the lower fold line section 62. A portion of the slit 68 coincides with a portion between the fold line sections 56 at the upper edge of the side panel section. The end of the slit 68 ends at the end of a vertical fold line 70, which is interrupted by a slit 72 extending in the lateral direction. The slit 64 and the fold line section 60 form an adhesive flap 74 at one end of the partition 22, and a portion adjacent to the fold line section 62 of the partition flap 58 functions as an adhesive flap at the other end of the partition 22. In a similar manner, the slits 66 and 68 and the fold line section 62 in the horizontal section of the slit 68 form an adhesive flap 76 at one end of the partition 20 and the portion of the partition flap 58 adjacent to the fold line section 70 is It functions as an adhesive flap at the other end of the partition 20. A similar arrangement of the divider flap 58 and the dividers 20 and 22 is provided in the context of the side panel compartment 18.
Connected to the lower edge of side panel section 16 at fold line 78 is an inner bottom panel flap 80 and outer bottom panel flap 82 connects to the lower edge of side panel section 18 at fold line 84. The outer bottom panel flap 82 includes a secondary locking tab 86 and a primary locking tab 88, the latter being formed by a slit 90 that interrupts the fold line 92. A primary lock opening 94 and a secondary lock slit 96 are provided in the inner bottom panel flap 80 to receive the primary and secondary lock tabs 29.
The fold lines 30, 32, 36, 40, 42 and 46 are parallel to each other and extend vertically in the carrier formed from the blank, the fold lines 78 and 84 align with the lower edge of the main rectangular body of the blank, Forms a right angle with the vertical fold line.
To form the carrier from the blank, an adhesive is applied to the handle panel extension 54 and the adhesive flap 58 as shown by the stippling in FIG. No adhesive is applied to the partitions 20 and 22 or the adhesive flaps 74 and 76. The handle panel extension 54 is folded down at the fold line 52 to adhere to the top of the handle panel section 12 so as to form a region surrounding the matched handle opening 24 of the two-layer structure. The partition flap 58 is folded down at the fold line 56 and the partition flap is adhered to the side panels 16 and 18. The resulting provisional blank configuration is shown in FIG.
Next, an adhesive is applied to the adhesive flap 44, the adhesive flap 74 overlying the end panel section 34, and the adhesive flap 76 overlying the side panel section 18, as shown by the stippling in FIG. 3. Next, the handle panel section 12 and the partial end panel section 38 are rotated about the fold line 40 to the position shown in FIG. In this manner, the adhesive flap 44 is bonded to the overlapped end panel section 34 and the adhesive flaps 74 and 76 are bonded to the overlapped handle panel section 12.
Next, an adhesive is applied to the indicating portion of the end panel section 38, the adhesive flap 74 that overlaps the end panel section 28, and the adhesive flap 76 that overlaps the side panel section 16, as shown by the stippling in FIG. 4. Next, the side panel section 16 and the end panel section 28 are rotated about the fold line 32 to form the folded carrier shown in FIG. Thus, the end panel sections 28 and 38 are bonded together and the adhesive flaps 74 and 76 shown in FIG. 4 are bonded to the overlapping handle panel section 12. After applying an inward opposing force against the fold lines 32 and 40 at the ends to erect the folded carrier, the bottom panel of the carrier can be formed.
The particular design of the bottom panel of the carrier is not a feature of the present invention, so the bottom panel may be any suitable design. With respect to forming the bottom panel from the illustrated blank design, those skilled in the art will recognize that the bottom panel flap 80 may overlap the end portion of the flap 80 after the folded carrier is upright. And 82 are understood to be folded. The primary locking tab 88 is engaged with the straight edge of the locking opening 94 by first folding the outer portion of the flap 82 along the fold line 92 and then folding back toward its normal planar position. be able to. A secondary lock tab 86 can then be inserted into the slit 96 to prevent the primary lock from being removed. When the bottom panel is completed, the carrier of FIG. 1 is obtained.
As best seen in FIGS. 1, 6 and 7, the carrier handle panel 12 is integrally connected to the partial end panel section 38 and connected to the end panel 34 by an adhesive flap 44. It also connects to the partition panels 20 and 22 by adhesive flaps 76 and 74, respectively. Partition panels 20 and 22 are connected to the side panels by partition flaps 58. The result is a very strong six bottle carrier that effectively separates the bottles.
It will be appreciated that the particular shape of the partitions 20 and 22 can be varied from the design illustrated in the drawings. However, it is expected that the periphery of the partition will have an irregular shape so that the partition is integrally connected to the partition flap 58 and the partition 20 can be driven out from the partition flap along the slits 68 and 70. Furthermore, the height of the partition should be such that adjacent bottles do not touch each other.
Since the partition is formed from a partition flap that connects to the upper edge of the side panel section, it is not necessary to connect the partition to the handle panel as usual, thereby considerably eliminating the lateral protrusions of the blank. As a result, blanks can be laid out in the web from which the blanks are punched out so that the spacing between adjacent blanks is minimized, thus reducing material usage. Yet another advantage of this design is that the bonding operation can be performed at high speed. This is because the blank is very narrow and the area where the adhesive is applied is also very narrow, which allows the blank to pass through the adhesive head at a higher speed than usual. As a result, the carrier blank can be formed at a higher speed, thereby reducing the operating cost.
Although the carrier has been described with reference to a basket-type carrier for packaging bottles, it is understood that other types of articles can be used, particularly those that should not be in direct contact with each other.
The various design features described herein contribute to the ability to quickly and economically produce an effective and sturdy basket-type carrier that holds six articles. However, the invention is not limited to all individual details set forth with respect to the preferred embodiments except as fall within the scope of the claims, and without altering the overall basic function and concept of the invention. It will be appreciated that certain features of the preferred embodiments are contemplated to be altered.
