本発明は、マスタコントローラからシリアル通信により負荷制御要求を受信したスレーブコントローラにより該当する負荷を制御するシリアル負荷制御装置に関する。

【従来の技術】
画像形成装置等の装置の複数の負荷を1つのコントローラにより駆動制御する方法は、装置の規模が大きくなり、負荷が増加するに伴い、コントローラと各負荷との配線にかかるスペース・コストも増加するので、このような問題点を解決する方法として、例えば、図6に示すように、負荷の近傍に当該負荷を駆動制御するスレーブコントローラを配置し、これらスレーブコントローラとマスタコントローラとはシリアル通信でやりとりを行う方法が知られている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
このような方法を採用すると、負荷制御の配線は負荷の近傍におかれたスレーブコントローラとの間は短い配線ですみ、また、マスタコントローラとスレーブコントローラとの間もシリアル通信を行うので、少ない本数の線ですみ、配線コストを減少させることができる。また、このような方法によれば、制御すべき負荷の数が多く、かつ負荷がコントローラから離れている場合に非常に有効である。

しかし、このような方法では、負荷は、マスタコントローラにより直接駆動されず、マスタコントローラからシリアル通信線を介してスレーブコントローラにより受信された指令に従ってスレーブコントローラにより駆動制御されるので、通信エラー等が発生した場合には、スレーブコントローラによる負荷の駆動制御が誤って行われることがあった。

本発明の目的は、上記のような問題点を解決し、通信障害による装置へのダメージを防止することができるシリアル負荷制御装置を提供することにある。

請求項1の発明は、マスタコントローラからシリアル通信により負荷制御要求を受信したスレーブコントローラにより該当する負荷を制御するシリアル負荷制御装置において、前記スレーブコントローラは、前記マスタコントローラとの間の通信エラーを検出する通信エラー検出手段と、該通信エラー検出手段より検出された通信エラーの回数をカウントするカウント手段と、該カウント手段によりカウントされる通信エラー回数にプライオリティを高い順に対応させてストアしたストア手段と、該ストア手段から通信エラー回数に対応するプライオリティを取り出す取出手段とを備え、該取出手段によりプライオリティが取り出された場合に、取り出されたプライオリティを有する負荷を停止するように制御することを特徴とする。

図1は本発明の第1の実施の形態を示す。これはカラー画像形成装置の例であり、この装置の構造を図2に示す。図2に示すカラー画像形成装置は、リーダ部とプリンタ部により構成されている。

次に、図2に示すデジタル画像処理部312による処理手順を、デジタル画像処理部312の構成を示す図3を参照して説明する。CCD101からのアナログ画像信号は、クランプ・増幅・S/H(sample and hold )・A/D(analog-to-digital )部102により、サンプルホールドされ、アナログ画像信号のダークレベルが基準電位にクランプされ、所定量に増幅され(これらの処理順序は記述した順とは限らない)、A/D変換され、例えば、RGB各8ビットのデジタル信号に変換される。そして、これらRGB信号はシェーディング部103によりシェーディング補正および黒補正が施され、その後、つなぎ・MTF補正・原稿検出部104により、CCD101が3ラインCCDの場合は、つなぎ処理はライン間の読取位置が異なるため、読取速度に応じてラインごとの遅延量が調整され、3ラインの読み取り位置が同じになるように信号タイミングが補正され、MTF補正は読取速度や変倍率によって読み取りのMTFが変るため、その変化が補正され、原稿検出は原稿台ガラス上の原稿を走査することにより原稿サイズが認識される。

次に、図4を参照してプリンタ処理部を説明する。画像処理部312からの信号は、紙先端センサ347(図2)からの紙先端信号に同期して、2値変換部201により8ビットのCMYKの多値信号から2値信号に変換される。この変換方法はディザ法か、誤差拡散法か、あるいは、誤差拡散の改良したもののうちのいずれでも良い。そして、2値変換部201により生成された信号に基づき、LED駆動部206〜209によりLED210〜213が駆動される。このように、紙先端センサ347と、各画像形成部322,325,328,331との距離の違いを、遅延部202〜205によって調整するようにしたので、4色を所定の位置に印字することが可能となる。

本実施の形態は第1の実施の形態との比較で言えば、負荷の制御方法が相違する。第1の実施の形態では、通信障害が検出された場合に、直ちに負荷の制御を停止するようにした。これに対して、本実施の形態では、負荷の種類によって、何段階かのプライオリティを設定しておき、検出された通信障害の回数に従って、プライオリティが高く設定された負荷から、スレーブコントロール部4002,4003,4004により負荷の制御を停止するようにした。また、負荷の制御の停止に代えて、スレーブコントロール部4002,4003,4004により負荷への制御出力をハイインピーダンスにするようにしても、通信障害による本カラー画像形成装置へのダメージを防止することができる。

本実施の形態は第1ないし第4の実施の形態との比較で言えば、通信障害が検出された場合の制御方法が相違する。すなわち、第1ないし第4の実施の形態では、スレーブコントロール部4002,4003,4004による負荷の制御を停止するか、あるいは、負荷への制御出力をハイインピーダンスにするようにした。これに対して、本実施の形態では、スレーブコントロール部4002,4003,4004からマスタコントロール部4001の間にリセット信号を送るためのリセット線を用意し、スレーブコントロール部4002,4003,4004が異常データを受信し続けた場合には、マスタコントロール部4001側に何らかの障害が発生している可能性が高いので、スレーブコントロール部4002,4003,4004からリセット線を介してマスタコントローラ4001をリセットするようにした。このようにしても、通信障害による本カラー画像形成装置へのダメージを防止することができる。
