TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an X-ray absorption fine structure analysis method and an apparatus therefor.
[0002]
[Prior art]
When irradiating X-rays to the material M as shown in FIG. 5, X-rays because some is absorbed with through the material M, the intensity I of the transmitted X-ray becomes weaker than the intensity I 0 of X-ray irradiation. When the degree of absorption is precisely observed while changing the energy of the irradiated X-ray, a discontinuous change as shown in FIG. 6 is observed in the energy region peculiar to the substance. Points L 1 , L 2 , L 3 , K, etc., at which the degree of absorption changes discontinuously, are called absorption edges (absorption edge), and when this point is further enlarged by ln (I 0 / I), FIG. As shown in FIG. 7, a fine amplitude N is observed on the higher energy side than the absorption edge K.
[0003]
Considering this phenomenon, when a substance is irradiated with X-rays having a certain energy or more, atoms are excited and electrons are emitted at random. If there is nothing around this atom, the degree of absorption should be continuous. However, when another atom is present in the surroundings, the emitted electrons collide with those surrounding atoms, causing a scattering phenomenon, and some electrons return to the original state. It is considered that this scattering phenomenon greatly affects the fine amplitude on the higher energy side than the absorption edge described above. The technique of analyzing the minute amplitude and analyzing the information about the atoms surrounding the atom that has absorbed the X-ray is generally called X-ray absorption fine structure analysis (Extended X-Ray Absorption Fine Structure: EXAFS). In.
[0004]
According to this X-ray absorption fine structure analysis, it is possible to analyze the distance from the atom that absorbed the X-ray to the surrounding atoms, the number and types of the surrounding atoms, and the like. Analysis in various sample forms such as crystallinity becomes possible.
[0005]
As the conventional X-ray absorption fine structure analysis, a so-called angle-scanning analysis method using a monochromator and a so-called angle-dispersion analysis method using a flat crystal are known. Is an improved method of analysis. An outline of a conventional angle dispersive X-ray absorption fine structure analysis method will be described below. First, X-rays radially emitted from a light source are radiated from a predetermined angle range to an arbitrary lattice plane group of a flat crystal (Miller index: h , K, l).
Then, a diffracted X-ray having a wavelength λ according to the following Bragg's formula (Bragg's formula) is output from the plate crystal according to the incident angle θ of the X-ray. Note that d in the equation is the distance between the respective lattice planes (identical Miller index) that reflect or refract X-rays.
[0006]
(Equation 1)
[0007]
Here, as shown in FIG. 4, the irradiation X-ray a incident on the
[0008]
(Equation 2)
[0009]
The intensity of the diffracted X-ray b (incident X-ray intensity I 0 ) is detected by the detector 4, and then the sample is arranged on the optical path of the irradiated X-ray a to the diffracted X-ray b, and the X-ray transmitted through the sample Is detected by the detector 4 to determine the X-ray absorption of the sample. Then, it is possible to analyze the fine amplitude observed on the higher energy side from the absorption edge which appears in the energy region peculiar to the sample, and to analyze the structure of the sample.
In such a conventional X-ray absorption fine structure analysis method, since the diffracted X-ray output from the plate crystal has a certain energy region as described above, it is possible to measure the energy region collectively. It had the feature of being able to.
[0010]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the energy region where a fine amplitude observed on the absorption edge and its high energy side appears differs depending on the material. In the above-mentioned conventional X-ray absorption fine structure analysis method, the energy region of various materials is reduced by one plate crystal. Could not cover. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare a plurality of types of plate crystals and to exchange the plate crystals appropriately according to the type of the substance to be measured, which has a problem of poor workability.
The present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to make it possible to cover a wide range of energy of X-rays with a single plate crystal, thereby facilitating a measurement operation.
[0011]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, the present invention is directed to irradiating a flat plate crystal with X-rays radiating radially within a predetermined angle range, whereby diffracted X-rays whose energy continuously changes in accordance with the irradiation angle are generated by the flat plate crystal. Output from the crystal, the intensity of the diffracted X-rays is detected, and a sample is placed on the optical path of the X-ray or diffracted X-ray, and the intensity of the X-rays transmitted through the sample is detected at the subsequent stage of the crystal plate. In the X-ray absorption fine structure analysis method for analyzing the X-ray absorption fine structure of the sample based on these detection results, the flat crystal is rotated by an arbitrary angle about an axis orthogonal to the X-ray irradiation surface. Thus, the energy region of the diffracted X-ray to be output is varied.
[0012]
By rotating the plate crystal by an arbitrary angle as in the method of the present invention, the lattice plane group on which X-rays are incident can be changed. Since the lattice spacing d in the Bragg's formula (Equation 1) described above differs depending on the lattice plane group in the plate crystal, the output diffraction is changed by changing the lattice plane group on which X-rays are incident. The wavelength λ of the X-ray can also be changed. As a result, X-ray absorption fine structure analysis can be performed by changing the energy region of diffracted X-rays by using a single plate crystal.
[0013]
Further, the X-ray absorption fine structure analyzer according to the present invention comprises an X-ray source for outputting X-rays that spread radially, and X-rays emitted from the X-ray source being incident within a predetermined angle range to output diffracted X-rays. A flat crystal to be rotated, a rotating unit for rotating the flat crystal around an axis orthogonal to the X-ray irradiation surface, an X-ray detecting unit disposed on an optical path of the diffracted X-ray output from the flat crystal, A sample stage for arranging the sample on the optical path of the X-ray or diffracted X-ray.
[0014]
According to the X-ray absorption fine structure analyzer, the energy region of diffracted X-rays output from the plate crystal can be varied only by rotating the plate crystal by the rotating means. Can be easily carried out, and it is not necessary to prepare several types of plate crystals, so that equipment cost can be reduced.
By using an imaging plate as the X-ray detecting means, the dynamic range is widened, and weak X-rays can be detected with high accuracy.
[0015]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1A is a schematic diagram showing the configuration of the X-ray absorption fine structure analyzer according to the first embodiment of the present invention. The X-ray absorption fine structure analyzer of the present invention is an improved version of the angle dispersion type X-ray absorption fine structure analyzer outlined above, and the first embodiment shown in FIG. Is provided.

The imaging plate is a flexible film in which microcrystals of a stimulable phosphor are densely filled and coated on the surface. When the X-rays are incident on the imaging plate, the X-ray energy is accumulated in the stimulable phosphor, and thereafter, the irradiation of the excitation light causes the X-ray energy accumulation portion to emit fluorescence. X-ray intensity can be measured by amplifying and detecting this fluorescence with a photomultiplier tube.
