The present invention relates to a high-pressure discharge lamp such as a high-pressure sodium lamp having a starter built in an outer tube, a high-pressure discharge lamp device, and a lighting device.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Among high-pressure discharge lamps such as high-pressure sodium lamps, there is a type in which an arc tube is housed and held in an outer tube to form a double structure, and a starter for starting the arc tube is built in the outer tube. It is disclosed in JP-A-5-89845 and JP-A-5-335000. FIG. 7 shows an example of a conventional circuit configuration of such a high pressure sodium lamp with a built-in starter.

[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The high-pressure discharge lamp according to claim 1, wherein an outer tube whose inside is maintained in a vacuum; an outer tube housed and held inside; a metal filling material and an inert gas are sealed inside; An arc tube having a pair of electrodes, and a series-connected tungsten filament connected in parallel to the arc tube inside the outer tube, and a lighting tube.A wire diameter of the tungsten filament is 30 to 300 μm, and the lighting tube includes a pair of electrodes and a bimetal switch for closing a contact by a discharge phenomenon generated between the electrodes.A starter; and a thermoresponsive switch connected in series with the starter and opened by the heat generated by the light emitting arc tube. When the arc tube does not start, the contact of the bimetal switch in the lighting tube is maintained in a closed state in accordance with an increase in the amount of heat generated by the tungsten filament.
[0009]
Here, the “outer tube” is formed of, for example, hard glass, and the “arc tube” is formed by enclosing a metal tube and an inert gas in a ceramic tube of, for example, polycrystalline alumina or single-crystal alumina. . As the “metal enclosure”, for example, sodium and mercury are used, and as the “inert gas”, for example, xenon (Xe) gas is used. The “lighting tube” is a so-called glow lamp, and therefore includes a pair of electrodes and a bimetal switch that closes a contact by a discharge phenomenon generated between these electrodes. The “thermally responsive switch” is formed by, for example, a bimetal switch.
[0010]
Therefore, when power is supplied to the high-pressure discharge lamp, the ignition tube in the starter emits light due to the discharge phenomenon, and the heat generated at this time closes the contacts of the bimetal switch of the ignition tube, thereby stopping the discharge of the ignition tube. The ignition tube cools down and the contacts of the bimetal switch open again. At this time, an instantaneous kick voltage is generated by the inductance of the ballast having a coil structure interposed between the high-pressure discharge lamp and the power supply, and this voltage is applied to the arc tube as a starting pulse to start the arc tube. If the arc tube does not emit light by a single application of the start pulse, the opening and closing of the contacts of the bimetal switch in the ignition tube are repeated, whereby a start pulse is applied to the arc tube a plurality of times, and the arc tube is urged to start. Then, when the arc tube is started and turned on, the heat responsive switch is opened by the heat generated by the arc tube, and the circuit of the starter is opened. As a result, the contacts of the bimetal switch in the lighting tube do not open or close, and the generation of the start pulse is stopped. On the other hand, the current continues to flow through the tungsten filament due to the lighting tube causing the discharge phenomenon and the bimetal switch whose contacts are closed, and the tungsten filament maintains heat generation. Therefore, if the arc tube does not start for some reason, the amount of heat generated by the tungsten filament increases over time, and the ignition tube is heated by the heat. Keep closed. This prevents the lighting tube from performing its operation, and prevents the bimetal switch in the lighting tube from being repeatedly opened and closed, so that the start pulse is continuously generated.
[0011]
Here, the time until the starting pulse stops depends on the wire diameter of the tungsten filament and the distance between the tungsten filament and the bimetal switch in the lighting tube. In other words, if the wire diameter of the tungsten filament is small, the time until the calorific value that does not operate the lighting tube is shortened. On the other hand, if the wire diameter is too small, the tungsten filament will break due to vibration during transportation of the high-pressure discharge lamp. Therefore, as the wire diameter of the tungsten filament, for example,,straightThe diameter is desirably about 30 to 300 μm. Further, if the distance between the tungsten filament and the bimetal switch in the lighting tube is short, the bimetal switch is greatly affected by the heat generated by the tungsten filament, and the time required for the contacts of the bimetal switch to maintain the closed state is shortened. As the distance between the tungsten filament and the bimetal switch in the lighting tube, for example,2As in the described invention, it is desirable that the length be 15 mm or less.
[0015]
Claim3The high-pressure discharge lamp device according to claim 1,Or 2A high-pressure discharge lamp as described above; and a ballast interposed in a power supply line for connecting an arc tube in the high-pressure discharge lamp to an AC power supply. Therefore, when the opening and closing operations of the contacts in the starter occur, when the contacts are opened, a momentary kick voltage is generated by the inductance of the ballast, and this is applied as a starting pulse to the arc tube in the high-pressure discharge lamp, and the arc tube is fired. Starts. When the arc tube does not start, the generation of the start pulse is stopped.
[0016]
Claim4The lighting device described in the claims3And a casing for accommodating and holding at least the high-pressure discharge lamp. Therefore, the claims4In the high-pressure discharge lamp used in the lighting device described above, the generation of the start pulse is stopped when the arc tube does not start.

【Example】
The inventor of the present invention has confirmed the effectiveness of the present invention by experiments. FIG. 6 is a graph showing experimental results. In the graph of FIG. 6, prototype (1) is an experimental result of a high-pressure sodium lamp substantially the same as that shown in the first embodiment. Prototype (2) is an experiment of a high-pressure sodium lamp substantially the same as that shown in the first embodiment except that the distance between the bimetal switch incorporated in the lighting tube and the tungsten filament is set to 20 mm. The result. In the first embodiment, the distance between the bimetal switch and the tungsten filament is set to 15 mm. Prototype (3) is an experimental result of a high-pressure sodium lamp substantially the same as that shown in FIG. 7 as an example of the related art.
[0037]
In the experiment, an arc tube was prepared which did not start even though the internal gas did not leak, and the application of a start pulse to this arc tube was continued. Then, in the prototype (1), the lighting tube stopped operating due to the heat of the tungsten filament in about 2 minutes, and the starting pulse was not completely generated. In the prototype (2), the lighting tube continued to operate even after 5 minutes had elapsed, and the generation of the starting pulse could not be stopped. In the prototype (3), the non-lighting of the arc tube does not cause the leakage of the internal gas. Therefore, the filament-shaped heater does not break, and the generation of the start pulse is stopped as in the prototype (2). I couldn't.
[0038]
As is clear from such experimental results, in the high-pressure sodium lamp as shown in the first embodiment, when the arc tube does not start, the ignition tube is heated to maintain the heat generation of the tungsten filament, As a result, the bimetal switch in the lighting tube is maintained in a closed state, the lighting tube does not operate, and the generation of the start pulse is stopped.
[0039]
【The invention's effect】
The high-pressure discharge lamp according to claim 1, wherein the arc tube is housed and held in an outer tube whose inside is maintained in a vacuum, and a starter formed by a series-connected tungsten filament and a lighting tube is connected to the inside of the outer tube. Since the thermoresponsive switch connected in parallel with the arc tube and opened by the heat of the arc tube that emits light was connected in series with the starter, the arc tube was started by the lighting tube, and after the light emission of the arc tube, the thermoresponsive switch was turned on. The opening / closing operation of the contacts of the bimetal switch included in the starter can be stopped by the action, and if the arc tube does not start for any reason, the tungsten filament maintains heat generation for any reason regardless of the reason, and the inside of the ignition tube is maintained. It is possible to stop the operation of the ignition tube by keeping the contact of the bimetal switch closed and prevent the starting pulse from continuing to be generated permanently. Kill.
[0040]
Also,Taking advantage of the fact that the time until the generation of the start pulse is stopped depends on the wire diameter of the tungsten filament, the wire diameter of the tungsten filament is set to 30 to 300 μm. Therefore, the start pulse stops when the arc tube does not start. Can be set to an ideal time. In addition, by making the wire diameter of the tungsten filament larger than the diameter of 30 μm, disconnection due to vibration or the like during transportation can be prevented.
[0041]
Claim2The described invention makes use of the fact that the time until the starting pulse stops depends on the distance between the tungsten filament and the bimetal switch in the lighting tube, and makes the distance between the tungsten filament and the lighting tube less than 15 mm. Therefore, the time until the starting pulse stops when the arc tube does not start can be set to an ideal time.
[0043]
Claim3The high-pressure discharge lamp device according to claim 1,Or 2The high pressure discharge lamp described above, and a ballast interposed in the power supply line connecting the arc tube to the AC power supply, so that when the opening and closing operation of the contacts in the starter occurs, the inductance of the ballast momentarily occurs when the contacts open. A high kick voltage is generated and applied as a starting pulse to the arc tube in the high pressure discharge lamp to start the arc tube. Then, when the arc tube does not start, the generation of the start pulse is stopped for any reason, and wasteful power consumption can be eliminated.
[0044]
Claim4The lighting device described in the claims3Since the high-pressure discharge lamp device described above and a casing for accommodating and holding at least the high-pressure discharge lamp are provided, when the arc tube does not start, regardless of the reason, the generation of the start pulse is stopped and wasteful power consumption is performed. Can be eliminated.
