本発明は自動電線ジョイント装置に関する。

【従来の技術】
本件出願人は、被覆電線の端末同士を自動的に接続するための装置として、はんだ式の被覆電線連結装置を提案している(特開平10−64653号公報参照)。この連結装置は、連結される2本の被覆電線の端部に皮剥加工を自動的に施すセミストリップユニットと、皮剥されて露出した芯線部分を束ねて溶接するユニットとを備えている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
上記連結装置においては、電線同士の連結手段として溶接を採用していたので、接続のためのランニングコストがかかる他、接続時間が長くなるという不具合があった。
他方、電線同士を機械的によって連結することが自動化されれば、ランニングコストの低減を図ることができるのであるが、被覆電線の仕様や状態はばらつきが大きいので、ツイスト作業を自動化した場合、安定した連結状態を得ることが困難であった。

本発明は上記不具合に鑑みてなされたものであり、被覆電線の芯線同士を精度よく撚ることのできる自動電線ジョイント装置を提供することを課題としている。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記課題を解決するために、本発明は、
電線加工機に被覆電線を送給する送給ラインと、
送給ラインに送給される現ロットの被覆電線に接続される次ロットの被覆電線を供給する供給ラインと
を設け、上記現ロットの被覆電線の終端側と次ロットの被覆電線の先端側とに連結部分を形成して両連結部分を自動的に撚る電線ジョイント装置であって、
各ラインにある被覆電線の連結部分として、端部に被覆部が残った状態で芯線部が露出するように皮剥加工を行なうセミストリップユニットと、
セミストリップユニットによって皮剥された各被覆電線の連結部分を重ね合わせてクランプする一対のチャックと、
該チャックを相対的に駆動して両連結部分の露出した芯線部にツイストを与えて両電線を連結するツイスト手段と
を備えていることを特徴とする自動電線ジョイント装置である。

以下、添付図面を参照しながら、本発明の好ましい実施の形態について詳述する。

これらの図を参照して、図示の実施の形態に係るジョイント装置10は、複数(図示の例では2つ)の電線束Wを載置することのできるベース11と、このベース11の背後に立設された一対のピラー12によって担持される取付板13とを有しており、この取付板13の左右両側には、図示しない電線加工装置に一の電線束Wから被覆電線W1を送給する送給ラインL1と、この被覆電線W1に接続されるべき次ロットの被覆電線W2を供給する供給ラインL2とが、互いに平行に設定されている。

これらの図も参照して、上記取付板13には、供給チャックユニット20が取り付けられている。この供給チャックユニット20は、作業者が次ロットの被覆電線W2をジョイント装置10に供給する際に用いられるものであり、取付板13から前方に突出するステー21と、このステー21の先端部分に取り付けられて、ロータリテーブル22と、ロータリテーブル22を介してステー21に取り付けられて、鉛直線回りに回動可能な進退シリンダ23と、この進退シリンダ23によって、該進退シリンダ23の長手方向に進退可能な供給チャック24と、供給チャック24の姿勢を90°の範囲で変更するために、ロータリテーブル22の軸22aに連結されたリンク25を介して進退シリンダ23を該軸22a回りに駆動する回動シリンダ26とを有しており、供給チャック24のチャック部24aに被覆電線W2を挟み込むことにより、被覆電線W2を供給することができるようになっている。ここで、上記供給チャック24は、上記回動シリンダ26により、図4の実線で示すように、取付板13側に長手方向が直角に沿って、チャック部24aにクランプされた被覆電線W2が供給ラインL2上に沿う処理姿勢と、図4の仮想線で示すように、チャック部24aが前方に回動して、ジョイント装置10の前方にいる作業者に臨む供給姿勢との間で変位可能になっている。

このセミストリップユニット30は、取付板13の背面に装着されたモータ31と、モータ31によって180°双方向に回動可能な担持フレーム32と、担持フレーム32によって担持されているカッタ33、皮剥用カッタ34、および皮剥用クランプ35とを有している。

同図も参照して、上記カッタ33、皮剥用カッタ34、皮剥用クランプ35は、いずれもエアシリンダ33a、34a、35aを有しており、これらエアシリンダ33a〜35aによって開閉される周知のユニットであり、各刃33b、34bおよびクランプ部35bが、同一線と直交する面上でそれぞれ開閉するように担持フレーム32に配設されている。これとともに、担持フレーム32が取付板13と直交する水平軸回りに担持フレーム32を180°の範囲で双方向に回動することにより、図3の実線で示すように、担持フレーム32上の上記カッタ33、皮剥用カッタ34、皮剥用クランプ35が供給ラインL2上で開閉する供給側姿勢と、図3の仮想線で示すように、送給ラインL1上で開閉する送給側姿勢との間で変位することができるようになっている。

上記セミストリップユニット30には、皮剥用シリンダ36(図2参照)が設けられ、上記各カッタ33、34は、この皮剥用シリンダ36によって皮剥用クランプ35に対し相対的にラインL1、L2沿いに変位することができるようになっている。
なお、セミストリップユニット30が供給側、すなわち、次ロットの被覆電線W2を皮剥する際に、該被覆電線W2の端部をガイドする筒状のガイド部材38がステー38aを介して上記取付板13に取り付けられ、供給ラインL2に沿っている。ガイド部材38は、後述する被覆電線W2の皮剥工程において、該被覆電線W2の姿勢を鉛直に維持するためのものである。

ここで、図6に示すように、セミストリップユニット30によって皮剥され、裁断された被覆電線W1、W2は、その連結部分となる部位が、いずれも端部に被覆部1を余した状態で芯線部2を露出させた状態で皮剥されている。
さらに、図3を参照して、上記取付板13には、現ロットの被覆電線W1を処理する処理ユニット40が設けられている。この処理ユニット40は、電線重ね合わせクランプ41、開閉ガイド42、およびエアニッパ43を送給ラインL1沿いに上からこの順で配列し、ステー45を介して取付板13に固定したものであり、いずれも上述したセミストリップユニット30のカッタ33等と同様に、エアシリンダによって送給ラインL1を開閉するように構成されている。

さらに上記ステー45には、張力付与シリンダ46が設けられ、この張力付与シリンダ46によって、送給ラインL1沿いに昇降する張力付与クランプ47が設けられている。この張力付与クランプ47は、後述する所定のタイミングで送給ラインL1上にある現ロットの被覆電線W1に張力を付与するためのものである。

次に、被覆電線W1、W2を寄り合わせるためのツイストユニットについて、図1および図2並びに図7および図8を参照しながら説明する。図7および図8は図1のジョイント装置10に採用されているツイストユニットの側断面図である。
これらの図を参照して、ツイストユニット50は、取付板13に固定されているツイスト昇降シリンダ51に取り付けられた昇降体52と、この昇降体52を介して担持されたモータ53と、このモータ53の軸53aに固定された駆動ギヤ54と、駆動ギヤ54に噛合する従動ギヤ55とを有しており、さらに従動ギヤ55の下面にヒンジ56を介して取り付けられた一対のチャック57によって、送給ラインL1上で被覆電線W1(W2)をクランプすることができるようになっている。

上記従動ギヤ55は、中空のスリーブ55aおよび軸受55bを介して鉛直線回りに回動可能に支持されている。そして、その軸芯が上記送給ラインL1に沿うことにより、該送給ラインL1沿いに被覆電線W1が送給されるのを許容した状態で回転することができるようになっている。
チャック57は、上記ヒンジ56によって片持ち状に取り付けられたアーム57aと、アーム57aの自由端に軸支された挟圧片57bと、アーム57aの自由端に取り付けられ、挟圧片57bを付勢する板ばね57cとをそれぞれ有しており、上記ヒンジ56によって、各挟圧片57bが互いに拝み合わせ状に接合するクランプ姿勢と、両挟圧片57bが開く開放姿勢とに変位することができるようになっている。

このチャック57を開閉するために、上記アーム57aは、環状の昇降リング60の内周側にリンクしている。
この昇降リング60は、従動ギヤ55と同心に配置され、ガイドロッド61を介して軸方向に昇降可能に構成されている。そして、この昇降リング60が下側に位置することにより、図7に示すように、各チャック57の自由端側の対向間隔が広くなって各チャック57が開放姿勢に変位し、上側に位置することにより、各チャック57の自由端がくさび状に締めつけられて各チャック57がクランプ姿勢に変位するようになっている。

この昇降リング60の外周面には、周溝63が形成され、この周溝63にリンクするカムローラ64を介して連結部材65が取り付けられている。この連結部材65は上記昇降体52に取り付けられた開閉シリンダ66によって上下に駆動されるものであり、この開閉シリンダ66の駆動力がカムローラ64から昇降リング60に伝達されることにより、チャック57を開閉することができるようになっている。

図1において、70は制御ボックスであり、上述した各部の動作を制御するためのマイクロコンピュータその他の電装品が収容されている。そして、この制御ボックス70に設けられたスタートスイッチSWを操作することにより、上述した各ユニットは、以下の手順で動作する。

この初期状態(待機状態)において、回動シリンダ26は、図4に示す供給チャックユニット20の供給チャック24を供給姿勢に変位させている。この状態で作業者が次ロットの被覆電線W2をチャック部24aにセットし、スタートスイッチSWを操作すると、回動シリンダ26が作動し、供給チャックユニット20は図4の実線で示す処理姿勢に変位する(図10(A)参照)。

次に、初期状態において、供給側姿勢にあるセミストリップユニット30(図3参照)の皮剥用クランプ35がまず作動し、供給された次ロットの被覆電線W2をクランプする。次いで、図10(B)の仮想線で示すように、皮剥用カッタ34がクランプされた被覆電線W2の連結部分に対応する部位を閉じて、被覆部を裁断する。その後、皮剥用シリンダ36が作動して、カッタ33および皮剥用カッタ34が皮剥用クランプ35と相対的に上昇し、図10(B)の実線で示すように、皮剥動作を行なう。

さらに、セミストリップユニット30が反転して送給側姿勢に変位すると、図11(C)に示すように、上述したように張力が付与されている現ロットの被覆電線W1を皮剥用クランプ35がクランプし、ツイスト用のチャック57および張力付与クランプ47から被覆電線W1が受け渡される。次いで、エアニッパ43により、現ロットの被覆電線W1が裁断された後、張力付与クランプ47、張力付与シリンダ46の順でこれらが原点に復帰するとともに、図12(A)(B)で示すように、セミストリップユニット30による皮剥工程が上記と同様に行なわれ(但し上下方向は逆向き)、被覆電線W1の端部に被覆部1を余した状態で連結部分が皮剥されることになる。

そして、この皮剥工程でカッタ33が被覆電線W1の終端を裁断すると、今度は、図13(A)に示すように、供給チャックユニット20の進退シリンダ23が作動し、次ロットの被覆電線W2が皮剥された現ロットの被覆電線W1の方へ重ねあわされる(図6参照)。図示の例では、この重ね合わせ工程が終了した時点で、ツイスト用の昇降シリンダ51によって、チャック57が連結部分をクランプできるように、昇降体52が降下する。その後、図13(B)および図14(A)に示すように、送給側に設けられた処理ユニット40の電線重ね合わせクランプ41と、ツイスト用のチャック57とが作動して、両被覆電線W1、W2の連結部分(重複部分)をクランプする(図6参照)。
