この発明は、複写機等の画像形成装置に関し、特に画像形成装置における操作部の改良に関する。

【従来の技術】
複写機等の画像形成装置には、表示器および操作キー（ボタン）を有する操作部が備えられている。操作部を操作することにより、画像形成のための条件、たとえば用紙選択、縮小／拡大、両面コピー、ソート処理をする等の各種の条件を設定することができる。
コピーの都度設定するのは面倒だから、画像形成条件を予め設定登録しておくことのできるお好みキーやショートカットキーが設けられているものがある。お好みキーやショートカットキーは、標準で表示される画面などに常に表示される。お好みキーを押すと、特定の機能について予め設定登録された条件が指定される。ショートカットキーを押すと、特定の機能の条件設定画面へと画面を切り換えることができる。これらのキー（ボタン）のいずれにも条件が設定登録されていない初期状態では、これらのキー（ボタン）に自由に条件を設定登録することができる。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
ところが、お好みキーやショートカットキーは、よく使う条件を選んで設定登録するものであるから、その数は多くはない（たとえば３つなど）。したがって、これらのキー（ボタン）に条件を登録していくと、すぐに全てのキー（ボタン）に条件が設定登録された状態となる。この状態で、さらにこれらのキー（ボタン）に対して条件の設定登録を行おうとすると、いずれかのキー（ボタン）についてすでに登録されている条件が失われることになる。

しかし、お好みキーやショートカットキーの登録内容が頻繁に変更されると、ユーザの混乱を招くことがある。特に、オフィスなど複数のユーザーで画像形成装置を共用する環境では、各々のユーザにとって重要な機能が異なることが多いので、登録内容の変更に伴う混乱は頻繁に起こり得る。したがって、これらのキー（ボタン）の登録内容は、ある程度一定していることが好ましい。
本発明は、上記の問題を解決し、操作のしやすい表示部を有する画像形成装置を提供することを目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段および発明の効果】
上記の課題を解決するための請求項１記載の発明は、ユーザにより特定された画像形成のための条件を設定登録することのできる複数の機能キーと、上記各機能キーに対して、上記画像形成のための条件の設定登録を行う際に押圧されるキーであって、当該キーは、下記表示部に表示される登録許可キーと、上記複数の機能キーの中に画像形成のための条件が未登録の機能キーがあるときには上記登録許可キーを表示し、複数の機能キーの全てに既に画像形成のための条件が設定登録済のときには上記登録許可キーは表示しない表示部と、を含むことを特徴とする画像形成装置である。

この発明によれば、機能キーに画像形成のための条件を設定登録することができる。予め設定登録がなされた機能キーを押すことにより、特定の画像形成のための条件を瞬時に指定することができる。機能キーは、表示部に表示されるものあってもよく、表示部以外の部分に設けられた専用キーのようなものであってもよい。複数設けられた機能キーには、初期状態ではいずれにも条件が設定登録されていない。この状態では、適当な画面に登録許可キーが表示され、この登録許可キーを押圧することにより、順次機能キーに画像形成のための条件を設定登録していくことができる。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下では、この発明の実施の形態を、添付図面を参照して詳細に説明する。
図１は、本発明の一実施形態に係る画像形成装置である複写機１の構造を示す図解的な断面図である。
複写機１は、用紙収容部２、用紙収容部２の用紙を搬送する搬送機構、原稿の画像に対応するトナー像を形成するための感光体ドラム３、用紙に転写されたトナー像を定着させるための定着ローラ４などを備えている。複写機１の上部には、操作部５が備えられている。操作部５は上から見下ろして操作できるように配置されている。複写機１は２０種類の機能を備えている。たとえば、用紙サイズの設定、拡大／縮小、両面複写、ページ連写などである。これらの機能を有効にするか否か、有効にする場合の各機能の条件などは、操作部５を介して設定することができる。

図２は、図１の複写機１の操作部５の構成を示す図解図である。操作部５は、ほぼ中央に配置された表示部７、その両側に配された複数のキー８などを備えている。表示部７は、液晶表示器を含んでおり、条件設定画面、条件設定可能な機能の一覧、現在の設定値などの情報を、画面を切り替えて表示することができる。また、表示部７は、いわゆるタッチパネル方式のものであり、その画面に表示されたキーやボタンを直接手で触れる（押圧する）ことにより、情報を入力することができる。キー８は、コピー枚数を入力する数字キーや複写開始キーなどを含み、それぞれに特定の機能が割り付けられている。

操作部５は制御部６に接続されている。操作部５から入力された情報は、制御部６へと伝えられる。操作部５の表示部７に表示される内容は、制御部６により制御される。

図５は、両面／分割の条件設定画面を表示した画面の一例を示す図である。図５を参照して、ショートカットキーに条件を設定登録する手順を説明する。

図４に示す条件設定画面表示領域２５ｂに表示されている両面／分割の機能の表示態様には、両面／分割の詳細な条件設定画面へジャンプするためのジャンプキー２７が配置されている。このジャンプキー２７を押圧すると、画面は図５に示す両面／分割の条件設定画面へと切り替わる。
この画面の上約５分の１の領域が状態表示領域３１、下約５分の４の領域が操作領域３２となっている。このときは、機能キー表示領域２２は表示されず、操作領域３２は、上約５分の１の機能表示領域３３、および下約５分の４の条件設定画面表示領域３４で占められている。機能表示領域３３には、現在、両面／分割の機能に関する条件設定画面が表示されている旨を示す機能表示４１、ショートカットキーに現在の条件設定画面の条件（設定内容）を設定登録するための登録許可キー４２、選択されている機能に関して設定値を初期値に戻す元に戻すキー４３、および現在開いている画面を閉じてもとの画面に戻るための閉じるキー４４が表示されている。

副表示領域３６には、複写機１の原稿読取位置にセットする原稿の向きを指定するための条件設定画面が表示されている。すなわち、設定内容の説明５１、原稿の向きを指定するための設定キー４９、選択された原稿の向きを視覚的に表した絵表示５０が表示されている。
このような両面／分割の条件設定画面を表示させて、必要な設定をした後に、登録許可キー４２を押圧すると、未登録のショートカットキーに、設定された条件が設定登録される。これは、ショートカットキー用メモリ１２の適当な領域に、それらの条件が記憶されることにより達成される。濃度設定や拡大／縮小など、他の機能についても同様の手順で、ショートカットキーに条件を設定登録することができる。詳細な設定画面を呼び出し、ユーザがショートカットキーに表示する文字（ショートカットキーの名称）を設定することも可能である。必要な操作が終了した後、機能表示領域３３に表示されている閉じるキー４４を押圧すると、表示部７は条件設定画面を開く前の画面に戻る。

図６の両面／分割の機能に関する条件が設定登録されたショートカットキー２６ａが押圧されると、設定登録された条件が瞬時に指定されると同時に、表示部７は図７に示す両面／分割の条件設定画面へと切り替わる。この画面で、選択された設定キーの文字が反転表示される（図では便宜的に通常表示に斜線を付して示す。以下、同様。）ので、ショートカットキー２６ａに設定登録された条件を確認することができる。必要に応じて条件を変更した後、操作部５に備えられた複写キーを押すことにより、画像の複写を実行することができる。
