Description
【0001】

[Industrial applications]
The present invention relates to a recording apparatus that records an image on a recording material according to image data.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, as one type of this type of recording apparatus, an ink jet printer that records image data using a recording head having a plurality of nozzles that eject ink droplets is known. In recent years, some inkjet printers have been used as recording units of facsimile machines.
When an ink jet printer is used as a recording unit of a facsimile apparatus, there is a possibility that ink is lost during recording of received data and data is lost. In order to solve this, a predetermined pattern (for example, a black mark) is recorded at a predetermined position at the rear end of the recording paper after the recording of the image data for one page is completed, and the density of this pattern is read by an optical sensor. It has been proposed that the presence or absence of ink is determined accordingly, and if there is no ink, switching to memory alternate reception is made.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in such an apparatus, the presence / absence of ink is controlled by a main control unit that controls communication with the other party and transfer of image data and commands to the printing unit, and the main control unit controls printing operation. It worked independently of the department.
[0004]
For this reason, even if a print command of a predetermined pattern to be printed to detect the presence or absence of ink is sent, there is a delay before the printing is actually performed. It was difficult for the control unit to understand. For this reason, the main control unit may detect a predetermined pattern by a sensor at a position deviated from a predetermined position, and it is determined that the recording paper jam is out of ink or that no ink is a recording paper jam. In some cases, the user cannot perform appropriate error processing.
[0005]
The present invention has been made in view of the above points, and an object of the present invention is to accurately detect a predetermined pattern recorded on a recording material after an image of one page is recorded, and to perform appropriate processing. A recording device is provided.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, a recording apparatus according to the present invention includes a conveyance unit that conveys a recording material, a recording unit that records an image according to image data, a conveyance of a recording material by the conveyance unit, and a recording position. A recording unit including a recording control unit that controls a recording operation of the recording unit on the conveyed recording material, and an image data output to the recording unit connected to the recording unit via an interface and the interface via the interface A data transfer unit including a main control unit for controlling the recording medium, and a detection unit provided downstream of the recording position in the conveying direction of the recording material and detecting a predetermined pattern recorded at a predetermined position on the recording material. A recording apparatus, wherein the main control unit is configured to record data for recording the predetermined pattern at the predetermined position on a recording material after recording an image on the recording material. After the transmission, the recording control unit sends a discharge command for discharging the recording material, and after recording the predetermined pattern, the recording control unit discharges the recording material according to the reception of the discharge command. After the recording material is conveyed to a predetermined position when the recording material is discharged, a signal relating to the timing at which the detection unit detects the predetermined pattern is output to the main control unit, and the main control unit outputs the signal. The control means controls the detection means to execute a detection operation in accordance with the signal output from the recording control means.
[0007]
[Action]
Accordingly, in a configuration in which the recording unit and the data transfer unit are controlled by the recording control unit and the main control unit provided respectively, the main control unit responds to a signal related to the detection timing output from the recording control unit. By performing a predetermined pattern detection operation, a predetermined pattern recorded on a recording material after image recording can be accurately detected.

Therefore, when the next main scan is started after the end of the main scan, the shorter the moving distance of the carriage from the end position is determined by referring to the print end position of the current scan and the existing range of the black data of the next scan. Recording is performed as the print start position of the main scan. Therefore, high-speed printing without wasted carriage movement can be realized.

In this embodiment, in addition to the normal mode in which the input recording data is printed as it is, a mode called a draft mode in which print data is thinned out according to a certain rule (period) may be provided. This is, for example, to reduce the amount of ink consumption by thinning out the dots for each dot, or to shorten the recording cycle because adjacent dots are not continuously ejected, thereby enabling high-speed printing.
[0047]
When this draft mode is provided, only the black mark may be printed in the draft mode regardless of the print mode of image recording. Conversely, if you want to improve the accuracy of footer mark detection, print only black marks in the normal mode to increase the print density of the marks even when the image recording is set in the draft mode. Is also possible.
[0048]
As described above, the recording control side knows the position of the black mark for detecting the remaining amount of ink, and notifies the detection start signal, thereby enabling more accurate detection of the remaining amount of ink and detection of the jam of the recording paper. Become.
[0049]
In the above-described embodiment, an ink jet system in which flying droplets are formed using thermal energy and recording is performed among the ink jet recording systems has been described as an example.
[0050]
Regarding the representative configuration and principle, it is preferable to use the basic principle disclosed in, for example, US Pat. Nos. 4,723,129 and 4,740,796. This method can be applied to both the so-called on-demand type and the continuous type. In particular, in the case of the on-demand type, it is arranged corresponding to the sheet or liquid path holding the liquid (ink). By applying at least one drive signal corresponding to the recording information and providing a rapid temperature rise exceeding nucleate boiling to the electrothermal transducer, heat energy is generated in the electrothermal transducer, and a recording head is generated. This is effective because film boiling occurs on the heat-acting surface of the liquid, and as a result, air bubbles in the liquid (ink) corresponding to this drive signal one-to-one can be formed. By discharging the liquid (ink) through the discharge opening by the growth and contraction of the bubble, at least one droplet is formed. When the drive signal is formed into a pulse shape, the growth and shrinkage of the bubble are performed immediately and appropriately, so that the ejection of the liquid (ink) having particularly excellent responsiveness can be achieved, which is more preferable.
[0051]
As the pulse-shaped drive signal, those described in US Pat. Nos. 4,463,359 and 4,345,262 are suitable. Further, if the conditions described in US Pat. No. 4,313,124 of the invention relating to the temperature rise rate of the heat acting surface are adopted, more excellent recording can be performed.
[0052]
As the configuration of the recording head, in addition to the combination of the discharge port, the liquid path, and the electrothermal converter (the linear liquid flow path or the right-angled liquid flow path) as disclosed in each of the above-mentioned specifications, a heat acting surface No. 4,558,333 and US Pat. No. 4,459,600, which disclose a configuration in which is disposed in a bending region.
[0053]
In addition, JP-A-59-123670 which discloses a configuration in which a common slit is used as a discharge portion of an electrothermal transducer for a plurality of electrothermal transducers, and an aperture for absorbing a pressure wave of thermal energy. A configuration based on JP-A-59-138461, which discloses a configuration corresponding to a discharge unit, may be used.
[0054]
Further, as a full-line type recording head having a length corresponding to the width of the maximum recording medium that can be recorded by the recording apparatus, the length is satisfied by a combination of a plurality of recording heads as disclosed in the above specification. Either the configuration or the configuration as one recording head integrally formed may be used.
[0055]
In addition, a replaceable chip-type recording head that can be electrically connected to the device main body and supplied with ink from the device main body by being attached to the device main body, or ink that is integrated with the recording head itself The present invention is also effective when a cartridge type recording head provided with a tank is used.
[0056]
Further, it is preferable to add recovery means, preliminary auxiliary means, and the like to the recording head because the effects of the present invention can be further stabilized. If these are specifically mentioned, capping means for the recording head, cleaning means, pressurizing or suction means, preheating means using an electrothermal transducer or another heating element or a combination thereof, and recording Performing a preliminary ejection mode for performing another ejection is also effective for performing stable printing.
[0057]
Further, the printing mode of the printing apparatus is not limited to a printing mode of only a mainstream color such as black, and may be a printing head integrally configured or a combination of a plurality of printing heads. The device may be provided with at least one of full colors.
[0058]
In the embodiments of the present invention described above, the ink is described as a liquid. However, an ink that solidifies at room temperature or below and softens at room temperature, or is a liquid, or in the above-described inkjet method, Generally, the temperature of the ink itself is controlled within a range of 30 ° C. or more and 70 ° C. or less to control the temperature so that the viscosity of the ink is in a stable ejection range. Anything should do.
[0059]
In addition, positively prevent temperature rise due to thermal energy by using it as energy for changing the state of the ink from a solid state to a liquid state, or use ink that solidifies in a standing state to prevent evaporation of the ink. In any case, the thermal energy such as the one in which the ink liquefies and is ejected as a liquid ink by the application of the thermal energy according to the recording signal, and the one in which the ink already starts to solidify when reaching the recording medium is used. Liquefied ink for the first time. In such a case, as described in JP-A-54-56847 or JP-A-60-71260, the ink is held in a liquid state or a solid state in the concave portion or through hole of the porous sheet. It is good also as a form which opposes an electrothermal transducer. In the present invention, the most effective one for each of the above-mentioned inks is to execute the above-mentioned film boiling method.
[0060]
In addition, as a form of the recording apparatus according to the present invention, in addition to the facsimile form as described above, as well as those provided integrally or separately as an image output terminal of an information processing device such as a word processor or a computer, A form of a copying apparatus combined with a reader or the like may be adopted.
[0061]
Further, the present invention is not limited to the method of discharging ink droplets using thermal energy, but may be a device of discharging ink droplets using a piezo element or the like.
[0062]
