In this case, a flexible connection member 4 such as a flexible printed circuit having a predetermined connection wiring provided on a thin flexible synthetic resin sheet is connected to the control circuit board 3 by, for example, soldering. The conductive connecting member 4 and the electrode substrate 1 are connected, for example, to a conductive anisotropic adhesive 5 (Anisotropic Couductiv).

Ar plasma treatment was applied to the surface of each input terminal 6 of the electrode substrate 1 of the liquid crystal panel in which the liquid crystal layer 2 was interposed between the pair of electrode substrates 1.1. The plasma processing apparatus used was a plasma asher manufactured by Tokyo Ohka. The processing conditions were a vacuum of 1.5 Torr, an Ar flow rate of 50 sccm, an output of 500 W, and a processing time of 10 minutes. Using such a liquid crystal panel, each input terminal of the liquid crystal panel and the flexible connection member 4 were connected with the ACF5. As a result of a temperature cycle test of such a liquid crystal display device, the ACF and the input terminal of the electrode substrate did not peel off. Further, since the input terminal is not in contact with the surface of the input terminal, a highly reliable liquid crystal display device in which the input terminal is not broken at all is obtained.

Since the surface of the input terminal of the liquid crystal panel is subjected to plasma processing, it is possible to remove dirt and the like on the surface of the input terminal. Thereby, the reliability of the conductive connection between the input terminal and the output terminal can be significantly improved.
