係るヤエン仕掛けの改良発明を記す特許文献として特開２０００−３４２１４０号公報や登録実用新案第３０８２２９６号公報がある。ここに特開２０００−３４２１４０号公報記載の発明は、ヤエン仕掛けが降下していく段階で梶板にかかる水圧によりヤエン仕掛けは下方に移動しイカとの距離を保ち、ヤエン仕掛けが生餌に衝突した段階で螺旋環を支点として錘の力によりヤエン仕掛けがイカのほうに上昇するというものである。又実用新案第３０８２２９６号記載の考案はイカがかかった段階で道糸を引くと、道糸が道糸誘導部から外れ道糸係止部内に道糸が入り込むと共に、補助板に水圧がかかる事により道糸係止部を支点として掛け針が上昇してイカに掛け針がかかるというものである。
