2. Description of the Related Art Continuous paper (hereinafter referred to as paper) is folded at perforations formed at regular intervals in the paper feed direction. For example, an electrophotographic printing apparatus is used for such paper. When the printing process is performed by the heat treatment, the perforation folding habit is lost by the heat fixing process,
Simply dropping the paper discharged from the printing apparatus by its own weight makes it difficult to store the paper folded.

Contrary to this, if the folding angle k is set to be wide, when the folding habit is formed on the thick paper P, the resistance force of the paper P sandwiched between the press-in blades B1 and B2 can be reduced. By rotating the press-in blades B1 and B2 smoothly, it is possible to reliably form a folding habit on the thick paper P. However, when forming a folding habit on thin paper P, the folding angle k is wide, so that the folding habit may not be reliably formed.

When the continuous paper is lowered by the guide and its perforation reaches between the two rotating shafts, the two rotating shafts are synchronously rotated in opposite directions. The tip of the pushing blade of the rotating shaft enters between the pair of rollers of the pressure roller of the other rotating shaft and escapes. During that time, a fold or valley fold is formed at the perforation. During the subsequent rotation of the two rotating shafts, the tip of the pushing blade of the other rotating shaft enters and exits between the pair of pressing rollers of the one rotating shaft. In the meantime, a valley or mountain fold habit is formed at the perforation. In this way, the perforations of the continuous paper are folded with valley and mountain folds alternately formed.

As shown in FIG. 4, the two pushing blades B1,
When B2 reaches the rotation position of 90 degrees, the pressing roller R
1 and the leading end of the press-in blade B2 are closest to each other, so that the maximum pressing force is applied to the perforation M of the sheet P, and a valley fold habit is formed. At this time, a sufficient pressing force is applied to the sheet P irrespective of whether the sheet P is thin or thick, so that the folding habit can be reliably formed regardless of the sheet thickness.

The rollers 22 constituting the pressure rollers R1 and R2 are supported by a spring member 21.
When a pressing force is applied to the roller 22, the sheet P can be elastically supported. As a result, even if the sheet to be folded is thick and strong, the spring member 21 is opened outward and deformed, so that the strength of the sheet can be elastically absorbed and the folding habit can be smoothly applied to the sheet. In addition, an unreasonable load is prevented from being applied to the drive shaft 10 and the driven shaft 11. After the pressing of the sheet is completed, the spring member 21 is restored to its original shape by its own elasticity, so that there is no possibility that the spring member 21 is deformed.

When the sheet P is pushed between the pressure rollers by the tip of the pushing blade, the spring member 21 is pressed.
With the elastic force of, the pressing roller presses the sheet P to form a folding habit at the perforation M. In such a configuration, since the pressure roller is rotated in accordance with the sheet P to be pushed in, the frictional resistance acting on the sheet P decreases, and the sheet P is pinched between the pressure rollers. This is advantageous in that the folding operation is facilitated. Further, since the pressing roller is supported by the spring member 21, even if the force of the sheet P acting on the pressing roller differs due to the difference in the thickness of the sheet P, the force can be absorbed. There is also an advantage that it can be widely used for papers having different thicknesses.

As described in detail above, according to the continuous paper folding apparatus of the present invention, the continuous paper is pushed into one of the opposite sides with respect to the axes of the two rotating shafts disposed on both sides of the surface on which the continuous paper descends. A pressure roller configured to include two rollers, the blade being rotatably supported on the other side by an axis parallel to the axis, and having an outer peripheral surface elastically supported so as to be movable toward and away from each other. A plurality is provided at intervals in the axial direction of the rotating shaft,
Each time the perforation of the continuous paper reaches between the two rotating shafts, the two rotating shafts are rotated in the opposite directions in synchronization with each other so that the tip of the pushing blade of one rotating shaft is moved to the other. Advancing and exiting between the pressing rollers of the rotating shaft; and advancing and exiting the tip of the pushing blade of the other rotating shaft between the pressing rollers of the one rotating shaft. Are alternately performed, and the folds of valley folds and mountain folds are alternately formed and perforated at the perforations of the continuous paper, so that the continuous paper is smoothly placed between the pressure rollers by the tip of the blade. It is inserted to form a folding habit. Therefore, even for continuous paper having a wide width, the folding operation is performed without generating frictional resistance. Further, since the stiffness of the continuous paper can be more elastically absorbed, it is possible to form a folding habit more smoothly on continuous papers having different thicknesses.
