(Prior Art) In recent years, as electronic devices have become smaller and more sophisticated, there has been a demand for a laptop personal computer to have a hard disk that can be detachably mounted. In order to make the hard disk detachable to the PC, the hard disk drive (HDD) must be detachably attachable to the main unit. When this HDD is mechanically and electrically attached to the main unit, There's a problem.

(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) In order to mechanically connect the HDD to the main body, when the HDD is horizontally slidably inserted into a notch provided on the lower side of the main body and then connected, the insertion end of the HDD and this There is a connector provided with a connector for coupling with each other at a portion on the main body side where the leading end contacts, and the connector is used for electrical coupling. In this type of sliding fitting, when the HDD is slid and inserted in order to connect the connector with sufficient contact pressure, the insertion resistance increases when the connector starts to contact, and this resistance When the HDD is pushed in against it, a large mechanical shock is generated at the time of mating completion, that is, at the time of contact between the HDD and the main body, which gives a mechanical shock to the HDD, which is not preferable for precision equipment HDD. There is.

That is, the electrical connector according to the present invention includes a fixed housing and a rotating housing that are elongated and accommodate a plurality of contacts in a row in a longitudinal direction, and the rotating housing is rotatably connected to the fixed housing. A rotating-fitting type electrical connector in which the plurality of contacts are electrically connected by rotating the rotating housing with respect to the fixed housing after the mating; Guide means are provided at positions substantially overlapping the rows of the plurality of contacts on both end surfaces of the rotating housing so as to form complementary shapes with each other and determine a rotating trajectory of the rotating housing. It is characterized by having.

(Operation and Effect) The rotation fitting type electrical connector of the present invention is engaged with the respective ends of the fixed housing and the rotation housing at positions substantially overlapping the rows of the plurality of contacts in a mutually complementary manner. Since the guide means for determining the rotation trajectory of the rotation housing is provided, the rotation fitting of the rotation housing can proceed very smoothly so as to draw the determined trajectory. In particular, since the guide means is provided at a position substantially overlapping the row of contacts, the accuracy of the rotation guide is extremely high in the vicinity of the contact connection position, and the fixed housing and the rotation housing are each provided during the rotation operation. There is no risk of damaging the contact.

According to the electric connector of the present invention, when the two housings of the connector are engaged with each other and the fulcrum is engaged, the center of the rotation (fulcrum) is determined only by inserting the applied force with almost zero force, and a substantially circular arc is formed. Since the concave and convex portions having surfaces serve as rotation guides, the attachment and detachment of the connector can be performed very smoothly and easily. In addition, since it is not a sliding fit but a rotary fit, it does not give an impact to electrical components such as HDDs.

Further, the two housings are guided at the time of fitting by the concave and convex portions having substantially arcuate surfaces for guiding, and since the concave and convex portions are connected after fitting, the radial direction of these arcs is increased. Can firmly prevent the displacement of both connectors, and firmly hold the electrical components etc. to the electronic equipment etc. after fitting, and even when the weight of the electrical components etc. is large, it can be sufficiently retained. Can withstand.

Further, by changing the dimensions of the concave portion and the convex portion having the substantially arc-shaped surface, the force required for the rotational fitting can be adjusted. In other words, the closer the dimensions are, the greater the force required for the rotational fitting becomes, and the more different the dimensions are, the smaller the force of fitting can be made.

Another effect is that in the case of sliding fitting, a groove (notch) must be formed at one end (for example, the bottom) of the electronic device from the end to be slid and inserted to the fitting contact position. In the case of dynamic fitting, there is an advantage that a notch having a size corresponding to the size of the electrical component is sufficient.

At this time, as shown in FIGS. 6 and 7, the arc-shaped projections 43, 43 of the plug connector 40 are fitted while being guided by the arc-shaped recessed portions 23, 23 of the recessed connector 20, and centered on the fulcrum. And guide the rotation. At this time, that is, when the convex portion (projection 24 ') of the reset connector 20 is engaged with the concave portion (hole 44') of the plug connector 40 to form the fulcrum engagement, the force to be applied is almost zero and the insertion is performed. , The center of rotation (fulcrum) is determined, and the substantially arc-shaped projections 43 and the recessed portions 23 at both ends of the connector serve as guides, so that attachment and detachment of the connector can be performed extremely smoothly and easily. . In addition, since it is not a sliding fit but a rotary fit, it does not give an impact to electrical components such as HDDs.

Further, instead of holding the plug connector 40 by hand, instead of holding the two connectors together by holding the HDD 4 which is an electrical component connected to the plug connector 40, the connection point is set from the fulcrum (rotation center) to the action point. The distance from the fulcrum to the point of force (the part that grips the HDD4) is longer than the distance to the (contact points of the contacts 27 and 47), and the force required for fitting can be reduced by the lever principle. Reliable electrical connection can be performed with an appropriate contact pressure.

Furthermore, the two guides are guided by the arc-shaped projections 43 and the recessed portions 23 when the two connectors are fitted together, and since the projections and the recessed portions are connected after the fitting, the radial direction of these arcs (shown in the drawing). (In the vertical direction on the side), the displacement of both connectors can be prevented firmly, and the electronic component (HDD4) is firmly held in the electronic device (computer body 2) after fitting, and the electrical component Even when the weight is large, it can sufficiently withstand the holding.
