Conventionally, the operation of separating a multi-core tape fiber into a single-core or two-core tape fiber has been performed as follows. That is, as shown in FIG. 5, using a tape fiber separator composed of upper and lower guide portions 21a and 21b for guiding the tape fiber 22, and each of the guide portions is provided with cutting blades 20a and 20b. Connect the tape fiber 22 to the upper and lower guide portions 21a and 21b.
Between the cutting edges 20a,
20b was pierced, and then the tape fiber 22 was pulled out from the guide portion in the longitudinal direction, and was cut and separated.

When the tape fiber is set on the guide means and pressed by the pressing means, the cutting blade pierces a predetermined position between the fibers of the tape fiber. At this time, the cutting blade is inserted into the tape fiber at a predetermined depth,
The depth is such that the cutting edge does not reach the single core wire covering. Therefore, the single-core wire coating is not damaged. When the tape fiber is pulled out in the longitudinal direction in this state, a cut is made on the tape fiber surface with a small pulling force. First, when the end portion of the tape fiber is divided, the divided pin is inserted therein and the separated tape fiber is pulled out, the cut portion is easily divided by the force in the width direction which is separated and expanded by the divided pin.

a, 3a, and is substantially symmetrical with respect to the contact surfaces 2a, 3a. A cutting blade 10a is planted upright at a center position near the tip edge (the end edge opposite to the support shaft 7) of the contact surface 3a of the lower block 3, and passes through the cutting blade 10a to be lowered. A total of six guide pins 9, two sets at two symmetric positions sandwiching a symmetric axis extending in a direction (lateral direction) perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the arm 5
Are planted at predetermined intervals in the lateral direction. The guide pins 9 of each set are implanted with an interval corresponding to the tape width of a tape fiber 12 to be described later, the terminal of which is separated into a two-core tape fiber by the separator 1. The tape fiber 12 is set at a predetermined position with respect to the above-described cutting blade 10a. The cutting blade 10a is provided with a blade in the longitudinal direction of the tape fiber 12 guided by the guide pin 9. Further, a depression 3b is formed in the contact surface 3a, and the dividing pin 11 is implanted in the depression 3b. A cutting blade 10b is planted upright at a position corresponding to the cutting blade 10a on the contact surface 2a of the upper block 2, and a guide pin planted on the lower block 3 is placed on the contact surface 2a. A hole (not shown) into which each of the tips 9 is loosely fitted is formed. These holes serve as escapes for avoiding interference between the guide pin 9 and the block 2 when the contact surfaces 2a and 3a of the upper and lower blocks 2 and 3 are overlapped. Similarly, a hole is formed in the recess 2b formed in the upper block 2 to allow the split pin 11 to escape.

Has a size that allows the user to separate the tape fiber 12 from the terminal (for example, 50 to 60 cm from the terminal).
Position), gently grasp the upper and lower arms 4 and 5 and use the upper and lower blocks 2 and 3 to remove the tape fiber.
The tape fiber 12 is pressed against the lower block 3 by the upper block 2 so as to sandwich the tape fiber 12. Then, the cutting blades 10a and 10b are positioned at predetermined positions of the tape fiber 12, that is, as shown in FIG.
The cutting edge of the four optical fibers 12a arranged at a predetermined interval is pierced at an intermediate position. The depth at which the cutting edge penetrates is adjusted to a depth that does not make contact with the optical fiber 12a. The terminal portion of the tape fiber 12 is divided in advance by making a short cut at the separation position, and the dividing pin 11 is cut into the cut. Then, when the tape fiber 12 is pulled while holding the upper and lower arms 4 and 5, as shown in FIG. Occurs. At that time, tape fiber 12
A force for separating in the width direction is applied to the cut 13 by the dividing pin 11, and the tape fiber 12 is divided into two parts before the dividing pin 11. A small force is sufficient for dividing the tape fiber 12 by the dividing pin 11 because the cut 13 is made in advance. Therefore, the operation of pulling out the tape fiber 12 does not require a large force and can be easily performed. At this time, the upper block 2 connects the tape fiber 12 to the lower block 3
In order to guide the side edges of the tape fiber 12 with the guide pins 9, the tape fiber 12 and the cutting blades 10a, 10a
By maintaining a predetermined positional relationship with b, the end of the tape fiber 12 can be accurately separated in the longitudinal direction at a predetermined position.

In addition, the tape fiber to be separated is not limited to a four-core fiber,
It is applicable to tape fibers with more than the core.
