Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a method for producing silicon oxide-coated aluminum nitride powder and silicon oxide-coated aluminum nitride powder.
Heat dissipating materials, which are silicone rubbers, silicone greases, and silicone adhesives filled with fillers such as alumina and boron nitride, are widely used in various electronic devices, for example, as heat dissipating sheets and heat dissipating greases. Aluminum nitride has been attracting attention as a filler for such heat dissipating materials because of its excellent electrical insulation and high thermal conductivity.
However, aluminum nitride reacts with moisture to cause hydrolysis and transform into aluminum hydroxide with low thermal conductivity. In addition, aluminum nitride generates corrosive ammonia during hydrolysis.
As a means for solving such a problem, for example, Patent Document 1 discloses that the surface of aluminum nitride particles is covered with an organic silicone compound containing a specific Si—H group, and the aluminum nitride particles are heated at 300° C. in the atmosphere. A method of forming a SiO 2 film on the surface by heating at a temperature of 1000° C. or less has been proposed. However, the aluminum nitride particles having a SiO2 coating formed by this method have low thermal conductivity and insufficient water resistance. is required.
The present invention has been made to solve the above-described problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide a surface-treated aluminum nitride powder having high thermal conductivity and water resistance, and a method for producing the same.

In the method for producing a silicon oxide-coated aluminum nitride powder of the present invention, the organosilicone compound used as a raw material for the silicon oxide coating film covering the aluminum nitride powder includes an organosilicone compound having a siloxane unit represented by the following formula (1), and At least one of the organic silicone compounds represented by formula (2) can be used.
In the above formula (1), R 1 is an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, such as methyl group, ethyl group, propyl group and t-butyl group, preferably methyl group.
In formula (2) above, each R 2 is independently a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, preferably a methyl group. m is an integer of 20-50, preferably 25-50, particularly preferably 30-40. When m is less than 20, the thermal conductivity and water resistance of the silicon oxide-coated aluminum nitride powder are insufficient, and when it exceeds 50, aggregation of the silicon oxide-coated aluminum nitride powder may occur.
In the present invention, the method for obtaining the organic silicone-coated powder by coating the surface of the aluminum nitride powder with at least one of the organic silicone compound represented by the above formula (1) and the organic silicone compound represented by the above formula (2) is limited. The reason for this is that if the content is 1% by mass or more, a uniform silicon oxide coating with a large coating amount can be formed, and if the content is 50% by mass or less, a silicon oxide coating can be formed that does not reduce the thermal conductivity. Because we can.

If the heating temperature is less than 500°C, a sufficient silicon oxide film is not formed on the aluminum nitride powder surface, and if it exceeds 800°C, a silicon-aluminum composite film is formed on the aluminum nitride powder surface. , the water resistance of the surface-treated aluminum nitride powder may be lowered, and the thermal conductivity may be lowered.
The heating method is not particularly limited, and a general heating furnace can be used as long as it can heat at the above temperature.
The heating time is preferably 0.5 to 5 hours, more preferably 1 to 3 hours, still more preferably 2 to 3 hours.
