Abstract
Description
TECHNICAL FIELD The present invention relates to a copper nanoink, a substrate with a conductive film, and a method for producing a substrate with a conductive film.
Demands for fine wiring technology are increasing as the wiring of electronic parts becomes higher capacity and finer. At present, the vacuum deposition method or photolithography is mainly used for fine wiring, but the equipment used for the manufacturing method is expensive, and the loss rate of the wiring material is high, resulting in high cost. There is also the problem of adverse effects on the environment, such as the disposal of solutions used in the wiring process. Therefore, there is a growing need for a technology for creating wiring using a printing technology such as printed electronics.
As printed electronics, using an ink containing copper nanoparticles, a line width and a line width interval ( Printed electronics are expected to form a conductive film having a fine metal wiring structure with a line and space (L/S) of several μm to several tens of μm. Furthermore, development of an aerosol jet printer and the like, which can produce even finer wiring than an inkjet printer, is underway.
The inks used in inkjet printers have various specifications (for example, viscosity, type of solvent, etc.) required for the inks depending on the specifications of the heads (ink ejection units). Furthermore, the diameter of the ink ejection port of the head is about several μm, and the ejection port is clogged by aggregation of the copper nanoparticles in the ink. be done.
In Patent Document 1, copper fine particles having an average particle size of 300 nm or less, copper coarse particles having an average particle size of 3 to 11 μm, a binder resin, and a dispersion medium are contained, and the copper fine particles are at least on the surface. A coating partially containing cuprous oxide and copper carbonate, the ratio of mass oxygen concentration to the specific surface area of the copper fine particles is 0.1 to 1.2% by mass g / m 2 , and the copper fine particles The ratio of the mass carbon concentration to the specific surface area is 0.008 to 0.3 mass% g / m 2 , and the content of the binder resin is 100 parts by mass in total of the fine copper particles and the coarse copper particles. Conductive pastes are described which are 2.5 to 6 parts by weight. This conductive paste can form a conductive film on a base material with low heat resistance by light irradiation, has sufficient industrial versatility during sintering, has excellent adhesion to resin base materials, and is described as being good.
The conductive paste described in Patent Document 1 has a relatively high viscosity and cannot be ejected by inkjet. Even if the viscosity is lowered by adding a solvent, if the ink contains coarse copper particles, the coarse copper particles will settle in the ink and the components will separate, which may cause clogging of the ejection port in the inkjet printer. Not applicable as an ink.

In general, copper nanoparticles inevitably form a coating containing cuprous oxide due to surface oxidation. The copper nanoparticles used in the copper nanoink of the present embodiment have a coating on the surface containing cuprous oxide and at least one copper compound selected from the group consisting of copper carbonate and copper (II) carboxylate. is preferred.
Examples of the copper carbonate include dicopper (II) carbonate dihydroxide (chemical formula: Cu 2 (OH) 2 CO 3 ) and bis(carbonic acid) tricopper (II) dihydroxide (chemical formula: Cu 3 (OH) 2 (CO 3 ) 2 ) and other basic copper carbonates.
Examples of the copper (II) carboxylate include, for example, copper (II) formate, copper (II) acetate, copper (II) propionate and other monovalent carboxylic acid and copper compounds, copper (II) oxalate, malon Divalent carboxylic acids and copper compounds such as copper(II) acid, copper(II) succinate, copper(II) glutarate, copper(II) maleate and copper(II) phthalate, copper(II) glycolate ), copper(II) lactate, copper(II) glycerate, copper(II) hydroxybutyrate, copper(II) tartrate and copper(II) citrate.
As described above, the copper nanoparticles used in the copper nanoink of the present embodiment have at least one copper compound selected from the group consisting of copper carbonate and copper (II) carboxylate on their surfaces. The reaction between the surface of the copper nanoparticles and the dispersant is such that the carbonate ion (CO 3 2− ) of copper carbonate or the carboxylate anion of copper (II) carboxylate acts as a Lewis acid, and the basic functional group of the dispersant acts as a Lewis base. is thought to be a Lewis acid-base reaction that acts as More specifically, since three oxygen atoms are bonded to the carbon atom of the carbonate ion (CO 3 2− ), two oxygen atoms are bonded to the carbon atom of the carboxy anion (—COO − ). Therefore, the carbon atom lacks electrons, and the carbon atom of carbonate ion (CO 3 2− ) or carboxyanion (—COO − ) is the lone electron pair of the basic functional group of the dispersant. is believed to attack and the Lewis acid-base reaction progresses to form the bond.
Below, the case where the copper nanoparticles used in the copper nanoink of the present embodiment have a coating containing cuprous oxide and copper carbonate on the surface will be described.
(Copper carbonate content)
Copper nanoparticles having a coating containing cuprous oxide and copper carbonate on the surface used in the copper nanoink of the present embodiment (hereinafter simply referred to as "copper nanoparticles of the present embodiment") are particularly When the copper carbonate is contained to a certain extent, the dispersing agent having a basic functional group and the copper nanoparticles can be combined, and the sintering temperature of the copper nanoparticles can be kept lower than before. By including copper carbonate in the film in this way, the sintering temperature of the copper nanoparticles can be kept low.

When the ratio of copper carbonate on the surface of the copper nanoparticles is 30% by mass or less with respect to the total mass of the copper nanoparticles, the reaction sites with the basic functional groups of the dispersant do not become too many, and the dispersant does not disperse. The possibility of bonding with two or more copper nanoparticles is reduced, and the copper nanoparticles are less likely to agglomerate.
The lower limit of the ratio of copper carbonate in the coating of the copper nanoparticles of the present embodiment (the ratio of copper carbonate on the surface of the copper nanoparticles) is preferably 6% by mass, and 8% by mass with respect to the total mass of the copper nanoparticles. is more preferred, and 10% by mass is even more preferred. When the ratio of copper carbonate on the surface of the copper nanoparticles is 6% by mass or more with respect to the total mass of the copper nanoparticles, the reaction sites with the basic functional groups of the dispersant are not too small, and the dispersant is It can be combined with copper nanoparticles to disperse the copper nanoparticles.
The range of the ratio of copper carbonate in the coating of the copper nanoparticles of the present embodiment (the ratio of copper carbonate on the surface of the copper nanoparticles) is preferably 6 to 30% by mass with respect to the total mass of the copper nanoparticles. ~25% by mass is more preferred, and 10 to 20% by mass is even more preferred.
The content of cuprous oxide and copper carbonate on the surface of the copper nanoparticles is the content measured by the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) method. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy is an analytical method that enables qualitative/quantitative analysis and chemical bonding state analysis of elements present at 2 to 10 nm on the surface of a substance to be measured.

The thickness of the coating on the surface of the copper nanoparticles of the present embodiment is not particularly limited, but the thickness of the coating on copper nanoparticles of a general size is about several nm.
(Average particle size)
The upper limit of the average primary particle size of the copper nanoparticles of the present embodiment is usually less than 500 nm, preferably 250 nm, more preferably 200 nm. When the average primary particle size of the copper nanoparticles is equal to or less than the upper limit, the copper nanoparticles are more easily sintered, and the sintering temperature of the copper nanoink is further lowered.
The lower limit of the average primary particle size of the copper nanoparticles of the present embodiment is preferably 100 nm, more preferably 120 nm. When the average primary particle size of the copper nanoparticles is at least the lower limit, the amount of dispersant required to disperse the copper nanoparticles in the copper nanoink can be further reduced, and the volatile component of the dispersant generated during sintering is relatively reduced, and cracks such as cracks when used as a conductive film can be further reduced. As a result, the adhesion between the conductive film and the resin substrate is further improved.
The average primary particle size range of the copper nanoparticles of the present embodiment is preferably 100 to 250 nm, more preferably 100 to 200 nm.

The combustion-supporting
In the water-cooled
The water-cooled
In the water-cooled
The means for generating a gas swirling flow in the water-cooled
The first cooling
The
In addition, in the copper
The
Furthermore, in the copper
Furthermore, although not shown in FIG. 1, in the copper
As the post-heating unit, for example, a batch-type unit equipped with a heater (not shown) is used, and the copper nanoparticles P are heat-treated each time during the route of the copper
(Method for producing copper nanoparticles)
A method for generating copper nanoparticles P using the

In the heating step, cooling water is passed through a water-cooling jacket (not shown) provided in the water-cooled
Furthermore, in the heating step, the first cooling gas G3 supplied from the first cooling
In the heating step, it is preferable to appropriately adjust the amount of combustion-supporting gas supplied from the combustion-supporting
In the heating step of the present embodiment, as described above, by adjusting the carbon content in the fuel gas G1 supplied to the
Further, in the present embodiment, powder of copper (metallic copper) or a copper compound (for example, copper oxide or the like) is used as the powder raw material M supplied from the
The copper or copper compound powder introduced into the reducing flame by the
Then, in the heating step, the copper nanoparticles P generated in the water-cooled
According to the production method of the present embodiment, as described above, by adjusting the carbon content in the fuel gas G1 supplied to the
In the method for producing copper nanoparticles of the present embodiment, the copper nanoparticles P generated in the heating step using the water-cooled
As the second cooling gas G4 supplied from the second cooling
Further, in the method for producing copper nanoparticles of the present embodiment, the copper nanoparticles P (exhaust gas D) cooled in the cooling step using the second cooling
Nitrogen, argon, or the like, for example, can be used as the inert gas used in the post-treatment process as described above. The heat treatment temperature in the post-treatment step is not particularly limited, but is preferably in the range of 150 to 400° C., for example. Also, the heat treatment time in the post-treatment step varies depending on the heat treatment temperature, but may be in the range of 10 minutes to 240 minutes (4 hours), for example. If the heat treatment time is 10 minutes or less, the above heat treatment effects cannot be sufficiently obtained, and if the heat treatment time is 4 hours or more, the obtained effects will not change.
In the method for producing copper nanoparticles of the present embodiment, an example in which both the fuel gas G1 and the powder raw material M are introduced into the
As the fuel for forming the reducing flame, other than the above-mentioned fuel gas, for example, hydrocarbon fuel oil or the like can be used. It is desirable to be configured to blow directly into the reducing flame.
<分散剤>
<Dispersant>
The dispersant used in the copper nanoink of the present embodiment (hereinafter also referred to as "the dispersant of the present embodiment") will be described.
(Basic functional group)
The dispersant of this embodiment has a basic functional group.
The basic functional group is a functional group capable of donating an electron pair.
Examples of the basic functional group include an amino group (--NH 2 ), a hydrazino group (--NHNH 2 ), an imino group (=NH, >NH), a group derived from quinoline, and a group derived from acridine. be done.
The dispersant of this embodiment has one or more basic functional groups in one molecule.
When a film containing copper carbonate or copper (II) carboxylate is formed on the surface of the copper nanoparticles of the present embodiment, the carbonate ion or carboxyanion as a Lewis acid and the basic functional group as a Lewis base Bonding is likely to occur by a Lewis acid-base reaction between By firmly bonding the copper nanoparticles and the dispersant, even if the amount of the dispersant added is small in the copper nanoink of the present embodiment, the dispersing effect is maximized, and the copper nanoparticles in the dispersion medium High dispersibility is exhibited.
(Weight average molecular weight)
The weight average molecular weight of the dispersant of this embodiment is 3,000 to 30,000, preferably 4,500 to 27,500, more preferably 5,000 to 25,000.
The dispersing agent adheres to the surface of the substance to be dispersed, and maintains the dispersed state by maintaining an appropriate distance between the substances to be dispersed due to electrical repulsion and steric hindrance. In the case of the copper nano-ink of the present embodiment, dispersion due to steric repulsion between dispersants works more favorably than dispersion due to electrical repulsion. When a dispersant with a weight average molecular weight of less than 3,000 is used, the distance between the copper nanoparticles in the copper nanoink becomes too close, and the dispersion of the copper nanoparticles in the copper nanoink cannot be stabilized. Therefore, from the viewpoint of the dispersibility of the copper nanoparticles in the copper nanoink, the weight average molecular weight of the dispersant is 3,000 or more, preferably 5,000 or more. On the other hand, if the weight-average molecular weight exceeds the upper limit of 30,000, the coating thickness of the copper nanoparticles becomes thick, the weight increases, and sedimentation tends to occur. Therefore, the weight average molecular weight of the dispersant is preferably 30,000 or less.

A conductive film obtained by printing or applying a copper nanoink onto a substrate and then baking the film contains a conductor composed of a fused product of copper nanoparticles. The dispersant and dispersion medium are vaporized and decomposed and removed during firing, and are not normally contained in the sintered conductor. However, it may contain a residue derived from the dispersant or the dispersion medium as long as it does not impair the effects of the present invention.
The conductive film, which is a sintered body provided on the substrate, has electrical conductivity.
[Effect]
In the copper nanoink of the present embodiment, the dispersant is bound to the surface of the copper nanoparticles, and the distance between the copper nanoparticles in the dispersion medium is secured. Excellent dispersibility.
In addition, in the copper nanoink of the present embodiment, the dispersant improves the adhesion between the copper nanoparticles and the substrate when the film containing the copper nanoparticles and the dispersant is baked, so that the copper nanoparticles are sintered and fused together. The adhesiveness between the conductive film formed by adhesion and the substrate is excellent.
In addition, the copper nanoink of the present embodiment promotes the reduction of cuprous oxide on the surface of the copper nanoparticles by the reducing substance generated by the decomposition of the dispersant, and the dispersant, if present, during sintering of the copper nanoparticles. Since the copper nanoparticles are easily fused to each other to form a conductor, the resulting conductive film has excellent conductivity.
In addition, since the copper nanoink of the present embodiment contains copper nanoparticles and a dispersant, it is possible to promote fusion between the copper nanoparticles at a relatively low firing temperature.

1.6 g of a dispersant (DISPERBYK-2050 (52% by mass of dispersant active ingredient)) was dissolved in 23.1 g of a dispersion medium (diethylene glycol monobutyl ether). 16.5 g of copper nanoparticles A were added to this solution and dispersed using a wet atomization device (NanoVita L-AS, manufactured by Yoshida Kikai Kogyo Co., Ltd.) to produce a copper nanoink.
Table 3 shows the proportions (% by mass) of the copper nanoparticles, the dispersant and the dispersion medium in 100% by mass of the copper nanoink.
<Production of substrate with conductive film>
The produced copper nano-ink was applied onto a substrate (Cosmoshine A4300, manufactured by Toyobo Co., Ltd.: PET film, thickness 125 μm) using a bar coater to prepare a substrate provided with a film containing the copper nano-ink. The substrate provided with the film containing the copper nano-ink is placed in a box-type dryer heated to 100° C. and dried for 30 minutes to remove the dispersion medium from the film containing the copper nano-ink, thereby providing a film from which the dispersion medium has been removed. A base material was prepared.
