The present invention relates to an ink composition for writing instruments and a writing instrument.
Conventionally, an ink composition for writing instruments using a thermochromic colorant that utilizes the color development and decoloration mechanism of a leuco dye usually uses a pigment obtained by microencapsulating the above colorant.
For example, 1) (a) an electron-donating color-developing organic compound, (b) an electron-accepting compound, and (c) a reaction medium for controlling the above-mentioned (a) and (b) color reactions represented by a specific formula A thermochromic color-memory writing ink composition comprising at least a solvent and a microcapsule pigment encapsulating a thermochromic color-memory composition consisting of a homogeneous compatible solution of an ester compound (see, for example, Patent Document 1 ),
2) (a) an electron-donating color-developing organic compound, (b) 2,2'-dimethyl-4,4'(fluorene-9,9-diyl)diphenol as an electron-accepting compound, and (c) A reversible thermochromic composition comprising a reaction medium that reversibly causes an electron transfer reaction by the components (a) and (b) in a specific temperature range, and a reversible thermochromic microcapsule pigment encapsulating it (e.g., See Patent Document 2),
3) A thermochromic pigment composition comprising (A) at least one electron donating dye compound, (B) at least one electron acceptor compound, and (C) at least one compound represented by the specific formula (I) Therefore, it is known that 2,2-bis(4-hydroxy-3-methylphenyl)propane (bisphenol C) is used as (B) (see, for example, Patent Document 3).

The membrane) was reciprocated 5 times. The degree of erasing (decolored state) at that time was evaluated based on the following evaluation criteria.
Evaluation criteria:
A: Completely decolored.
B: Not completely, but disappearing.
C: There are many spots that cannot be erased.
D: Does not disappear.
As is clear from the results in Tables 1 and 2 above, the ink compositions for writing instruments of Examples 1 to 8 according to the present invention were found to exhibit satisfactory color developability and color erasability. As a result, in microcapsule pigments using leuco dyes, the degree of freedom in material selection when selecting the developer to be used is increased, the degree of freedom in setting the amount is increased, and the manufacturing load is reduced. With this, the diversification of heat discoloration is improved, the utilization of microcapsule pigments is further increased, and microcapsule pigments with good color development and erasability (discoloration) can be obtained. This excellent microcapsule It was confirmed that a pigment-containing ink composition for writing instruments and a writing instrument equipped with this ink composition can be obtained.
Microcapsule pigments suitable for writing instruments such as ballpoint pens and marking pens, ink compositions for writing instruments, and writing instruments are obtained.
