Abstract
Description
Embodiments of the present invention relate to a radiation detection module, a scintillator panel, and a radiation detector.
An example of a radiation detector is an X-ray detector. The X-ray detector is provided with a scintillator that converts X-rays into fluorescence, an array substrate that converts fluorescence into an electrical signal, and a moisture-proof body that covers the scintillator.
Here, if a scintillator having a columnar crystal is used, a scintillator having a function of converting X-rays into fluorescence and a function of transmitting generated fluorescence (light guide effect) can be obtained. For example, when a film made of thallium activated cesium iodide or the like is formed on a substrate by using a vacuum evaporation method, a scintillator having columnar crystals is formed.
In the vacuum evaporation method, a mask having an opening is used. In this case, a scintillator is formed at a position facing the opening on the substrate. However, when a mask having an opening is used, the vapor wraps around the periphery of the opening and the vapor reaches the substrate. Therefore, the thickness in the vicinity of the peripheral edge of the scintillator becomes thinner toward the outside. Since the amount of fluorescence decreases in the region where the thickness of the scintillator gradually decreases, the quality of the X-ray image may be degraded. Therefore, in general, the region where the thickness of the scintillator gradually decreases is provided outside the effective pixel region of the array substrate.
Further, the vicinity of the periphery of the moistureproof body is also bonded to the outside of the effective pixel area of the array substrate. In order to secure the sealability in the vicinity of the periphery of the moistureproof body and to obtain high reliability, it is preferable to lengthen the bonding dimension (width dimension) in the vicinity of the periphery of the moistureproof body. However, if the bonding dimension in the vicinity of the periphery of the moistureproof body is increased, an extra space corresponding to the dimension is required. In this case, if the planar dimensions (dimensions in the direction parallel to the surface of the substrate) of the region in which the thickness of the scintillator gradually decreases can be reduced, the junction dimensions near the periphery of the moistureproof body can be lengthened accordingly.
Therefore, it has been desired to develop an X-ray detection module, a scintillator panel, and an X-ray detector in which the planar dimension of the region where the thickness of the scintillator gradually decreases is small.
The problem to be solved by the present invention is to provide a radiation detection module, a scintillator panel, and a radiation detector in which the planar dimension of the region where the thickness of the scintillator gradually decreases is small.
The radiation detection module according to the embodiment includes an array substrate having a plurality of photoelectric conversion units, and a scintillator provided on the plurality of photoelectric conversion units. The angle formed by the first side surface of the scintillator and the array substrate is larger than the angle formed by the second side surface opposite to the first side surface and the array substrate.

Here, as an example, a case related to X-rays will be described as a representative example of radiation. Therefore, other radiation can also be applied by replacing “X-ray” in the following embodiments with “other radiation”.
Also, the radiation detector can be used, for example, in general medical care. However, the application of the radiation detector is not limited to general medicine.

The
The
As described later, when forming the
Further, a

However, when the distance L2 and the distance L4 are shortened, the space outside the

Therefore, it is possible to reduce the size and to improve the reliability against moisture.

When the evaporation of cesium iodide contained in the
In this case, because the amount of cesium iodide vapor is large, crystals of cesium iodide are formed. In some cesium iodide crystals, thallium is disposed at a site where cesium ions are disposed. Therefore, the

FIG. 7A shows the state before heating (before vapor deposition), that is, the state at normal temperature.

FIG. 7C shows the case where the
The temperature is higher than in the case of FIG. 7 (b). Therefore, the distance Dl is larger than the distance Df.

Next, formation of the angles θ1 and θ2 will be described.
