図６は、図２の補強部材１０６および比較例の補強部材２００を模式的に示す図である。図６（ａ）、図６（ｂ）に示す鎖線Ｈ、Ｉは、補強部材１０６、２００を切り出すために必要な母材のサイズをそれぞれ示している。また図６（ａ）の鎖線Ｊは、横縁１２８、１３０を有する開口１２２、１２４の車両前後方向の幅の中央を示している。
また補強部材１０６は、図６（ａ）に示すように、折り曲げられる前の後側固定部１１６、１１８が本体部１１４の開口１２２、１２４内に片持ち梁状に延びているため、本体部１１４の範囲内に存在する。そのため、補強部材１０６の本体部１１４、前側固定部１２０および後側固定部１１６、１１８を母材から切り出す際、母材は、本体部１１４の範囲内に存在する後側固定部１１６、１１８用の領域を別途用意する必要がない。すなわち母材は、本体部１１４と前側固定部１２０をカバーできるサイズであればよい。ここでは母材のサイズは、図６（ａ）に示すように、車両前後方向が寸法Ｌａ、車幅方向が寸法Ｌｂとなっている。
