Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an ink, an ink jet recording method using the ink, and a recording medium to which the ink is attached.
A recording method using an ink jet printer (ink jet recording method) is one of color recording methods. In this method, ink droplets are generated and recorded on various recording media (paper, film, fabric, etc.) for recording. Ink jet recording has recently been used for industrial purposes. In this application, it is strongly required to increase the recording speed of ink jet recording.
Various recording media are used for inkjet recording. Recording media are roughly classified into two types, those having an ink receiving layer and those having no ink receiving layer. Among these, examples of the recording medium having an ink receiving layer include ink jet dedicated paper (glossy paper).
On the other hand, a recording medium that does not have an ink receiving layer has a low ink absorption capability, so that the ink is difficult to dry. For this reason, it is difficult to increase the recording speed, which is a problem in industrial applications. That is, when ink jet recording is performed on a recording medium having no ink receiving layer, if the ink is not sufficiently dried, the undried ink will contaminate the components of the ink jet printer, the recording medium, and the like. As a result, expensive printer parts can be replaced and productivity is lowered, and ink with good drying properties is strongly demanded.
In addition, the fixability of an image when recorded on a recording medium having no ink receiving layer is also a big problem. For example, an ink that rubs a recorded image with a finger and does not cause color transfer from the image to the finger is generally evaluated as having good drying properties. However, when another recording medium is superimposed on the image and pressure is applied, color transfer may occur in the other recording medium. Since recorded recording media are often stacked, color transfer between the recording media causes a decrease in productivity. For this reason, improving the fixability of the recorded image is also an extremely important issue.
For this reason, an ink that does not have an ink receptive layer, and has a fast ink drying and good fixability of a recorded image is desired even when a non-ink-absorbing or ink-absorbing recording medium is used. ing.

When the ink contains a water-insoluble colorant, it is preferable to prepare a dispersion liquid containing a colorant and a dispersant and then mix with other components to prepare the ink. A known method can be used as a method for preparing the dispersion.
As an example, the phase inversion emulsification method can be used when the dispersant does not dissolve in water but dissolves in an organic solvent. That is, a dispersant is dissolved in an organic solvent such as 2-butanone, and an aqueous solution of a neutralizing agent is added to prepare an emulsion. A colorant is added to the obtained emulsion to perform a dispersion treatment. An organic solvent and a part of water are distilled off under reduced pressure from the liquid thus obtained, whereby a target colorant dispersion can be obtained.
Examples of the dispersion treatment include a method in which a colorant and a polymer are placed in a sand mill (bead mill), a roll mill, a ball mill, a paint shaker, an ultrasonic disperser, a microfluidizer, and the like to perform dispersion. As an example, when a sand mill is used, beads having a particle diameter of about 0.01 mm to 1 mm can be used, and a dispersion treatment can be performed by appropriately setting the filling rate of the beads.
Moreover, in order to make the particle diameter of the particles contained in the dispersion liquid uniform, filtration and / or centrifugation can be performed on the dispersion liquid.

On the other hand, the ink can be recorded on such a recording medium without being repelled. For this reason, the recording medium preferably has low ink absorption and non-absorption, and particularly preferably non-absorption. Examples of the ink-absorbing recording medium include plain paper, media used for gravure printing and offset printing, art paper, coated paper, matte paper, cast paper, and the like. Examples of non-ink-absorbing recording media include vinyl chloride sheets, polymer sheets, glass, and rubber.

The ink of the present invention has high color developability even when recorded on paper having no ink receiving layer. Further, even when recording is performed on a recording medium having low ink absorption ability and non-absorptive absorbability, the ink dries quickly and the fixability of the ink is good.
Further, when recording on various recording media, it is possible to obtain a high-quality recorded image with high color development and no mottling regardless of the presence or absence of the ink receiving layer.
In addition, the ink of the present invention has excellent storage stability and good ejection properties. Furthermore, since the clogging of the ink jet head is extremely small, the maintainability is also good.

記録メディア2:Finesse Gloss(UPM社製:80g/m2)。
[Inkjet recording]
Using each of the inks obtained in Examples and Comparative Examples, an image of 100% Duty was inkjet recorded on the following recording medium using an inkjet printer (trade name PX-205, manufactured by EPSON Corporation). The recording media to which the obtained inks were attached were used as test pieces, and the following quick drying test and fixability test were performed.
Recording medium 1: Aurora coat (Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd .: 85 g / m 2 ).
Recording medium 2: Finesse Gloss (manufactured by UPM: 80 g / m 2 ).
[Quick drying test]
In [Inkjet recording], the test piece was rubbed with a cotton swab every 5 seconds immediately after the test piece of the recording medium 1 was obtained, and the time until ink no longer adhered to the swab was measured. The evaluation results are shown in Table 3 below.
[Fixability test]
The test piece of the recording medium 2 obtained in [Inkjet recording] was dried at 90 ° C. for 1 minute. After the recording surface of this test piece and the blank surface of the unrecorded recording medium 2 were overlapped to form two sheets, a load of 500 g was reciprocated 10 times against the two-layer recording medium 2. The unrecorded recording medium 2 is peeled off from the two-layer recording medium 2, and both the blank surface of the unrecorded recording medium 2 and the recording surface of the test piece of the recording medium 2 are visually observed, and the following evaluation is performed. Evaluated by criteria. The evaluation results are shown in Table 3 below.
[Evaluation criteria]
A: Color transfer to the white paper surface is hardly observed, and the image on the recording surface is not damaged.
B: Color transfer to the white paper surface and / or image scratches on the recording surface are slightly observed.
C: Color transfer to the white paper surface and / or scratches on the image on the recording surface are clearly observed.
As is clear from the results in Table 3, it was confirmed that the inks of the examples were able to obtain a recorded image that dried quickly and had good fixability even when recorded on a recording medium having a low ink absorption capability. Moreover, although the quick-drying test result of Comparative Examples 1 and 2 was equivalent to that of Example 1, it was found that the fixability was inferior. That is, it was confirmed that the result of the quick drying test does not have the predictability of the result of the fixing test.
The ink of the present invention is extremely useful as various inks, particularly inkjet inks, because the ink dries quickly and the fixability of the recorded image is good even when recorded on a recording medium having no ink receiving layer.
