Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an anisotropic conductive connection structure.
For example, as disclosed in Patent Documents 1 and 2, a touch panel is widely used as an input device that performs an input operation on an image displayed on a display. The touch panel is divided into an input operation area where an input operation by the user is performed and a peripheral area of the input operation area. An electrode group in which a plurality of electrodes are wired in a predetermined wiring pattern is arranged in the input operation area. Then, a plurality of electrode terminals are drawn from the electrode group. The electrode terminal is disposed in the peripheral region. Furthermore, the electrode terminal is connected to the terminal of the electronic component. Specifically, the electrode terminal and the terminal of the electronic component are anisotropically conductively connected by sandwiching conductive particles contained in the anisotropic conductive adhesive.
In such a touch panel, when a user touches any position on the touch panel, an electrical change (for example, a change in capacitance) occurs in the electrode group at that position. Then, position information regarding the position where the electrical change has occurred is input to the electronic circuit via the electrode group and the electrode terminal. The electronic circuit recognizes the position touched by the user based on the input position information.
By the way, since the input operation area is an area visually recognized by the user, the electrode group is required to be transparent. ITO is known as an electrode material having such transparency. However, ITO has a problem that its resistance value is very high. For this reason, ITO has often been applied to small touch panels that are relatively insensitive to the high resistance value.
As a technique for solving the above problem, it has been proposed that the electrode group is composed of a metal layer (in other words, a metal film) such as Cu. However, when the electrode group is formed of a metal layer, the visibility of the electrode group may be increased (that is, the electrode group may be easily visible). Therefore, as disclosed in Patent Documents 3 to 6, it has been proposed to form various insulating layers on the surface of the metal layer. Since the electrode group covered with the insulating layer has a low resistance value and low visibility (that is, difficult to see), it can be applied to a large touch panel. For this reason, the technique which comprises an electrode group with the metal coat | covered with the insulating layer attracts much attention.
By the way, since the electrode terminal of a touch panel is arrange | positioned in the peripheral region which is hard to be visually recognized by the user, transparency is not necessarily requested | required. However, from the viewpoint of manufacturing cost and the like, in recent years, the number of cases in which the electrode group and the electrode terminal are made of the same electrode material is increasing. Therefore, when the electrode group is composed of a metal layer and an insulating layer covering the metal layer, the electrode terminal is also composed of the metal layer and the insulating layer.
Insulating layers are often harder than metal layers. For this reason, when an electrode terminal is comprised with a metal layer and an insulating layer, the surface of an electrode terminal becomes hard. For this reason, when an anisotropic conductive adhesive is directly disposed on the electrode terminal to perform anisotropic conductive connection, the conductive particles may not sufficiently penetrate the insulating layer. For this reason, there is a problem that the contact area between the conductive particles and the metal layer is not sufficiently increased, and the connection resistance is extremely increased. For this reason, when the electrode terminal including the metal layer and the insulating layer and the electrode terminal of the electronic component are directly anisotropically conductively connected, it may not be possible to manufacture a product that can withstand practical use. That is, there is a case where sufficient conduction cannot be obtained even when the electrode terminal including the metal layer and the insulating layer and the electrode terminal of the electronic component hold the conductive particles.
As a method for solving this problem, there is an increase in pressure at the time of anisotropic conductive connection between an electrode terminal including a metal layer and an insulating layer and an electrode terminal of an electronic component. However, in this method, there is a possibility that problems such as breakage or deformation of the substrate on the side where the electrode group is provided may occur.
In addition, when an electrode terminal is comprised with ITO, the contact area of ITO and electroconductive particle can be enlarged enough. However, as described above, ITO has a problem that its resistance value is very high. Moreover, since ITO is hard compared with metals, such as Cu, the electrode terminal which consists of ITO may be damaged in the case of anisotropic conduction. Therefore, even if the electrode terminal is made of ITO, the above problem cannot be fundamentally solved.
In addition, electrode terminals including a metal layer and an insulating layer are expected to be used for various purposes other than touch panels in the future. Therefore, there has been a strong demand for a technique for stably anisotropically connecting such electrode terminals and other electrode terminals at low cost.
Therefore, the present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and an object of the present invention is to directly and stably connect the first electrode terminal including the metal layer and the insulating layer and the second electrode terminal. It is an object of the present invention to provide a new and improved anisotropic conductive connection structure capable of anisotropic conductive connection.
In order to solve the above problems, according to one aspect of the present invention, a first electrode terminal including a substrate, a metal layer formed on the substrate, and an insulating layer covering the metal layer, and a second electrode An anisotropic conductive connection structure is provided, comprising: an electronic component including a terminal; and an anisotropic conductive adhesive layer including conductive particles that conduct the first electrode terminal and the second electrode terminal. .

Here, the cyclic olefin-based resin is a polymer compound in which the main chain is composed of carbon-carbon bonds and has a cyclic hydrocarbon structure in at least a part of the main chain. For this cyclic hydrocarbon structure, for example, a compound (cyclic olefin) having at least one olefinic double bond in the cyclic hydrocarbon structure as represented by norbornene or tetracyclododecene is used as a monomer. The structure of the styrenic elastomer is not particularly limited, and may be chain-like, branched or cross-linked, but is preferably linear in order to reduce the storage elastic modulus.

また、基板15にはOCA(Optically Clear Adhesive)などの光学接着層、またはOCR(Optically Clear Resin)からなる層が設けられることがある。

The method for forming the insulating

In this embodiment, an appropriate thermosetting initiator may be selected depending on the polymerizable compound. In addition, a photocuring initiator is mentioned as another example of a curing initiator. Examples of the photocuring initiator include a photoanion or photocationic curing initiator that cures an epoxy polymerizable compound, and a photo radical polymerization curing agent that cures an acrylic polymerizable compound. In this embodiment, an appropriate photocuring initiator may be selected depending on the polymerizable compound.
In addition to the above components, the anisotropic conductive adhesive may include a film-forming resin, various additives, and the like. The film-forming resin is added to the anisotropic conductive adhesive when it is desired to form a film in order to make the anisotropic conductive adhesive easy to handle. As the film forming resin, for example, various resins such as an epoxy resin, a phenoxy resin, a polyester urethane resin, a polyester resin, a polyurethane resin, an acrylic resin, a polyimide resin, and a butyral resin can be used. In the present embodiment, only one of these film-forming resins can be used, or two or more can be used in any combination. In addition, it is preferable that film forming resin is a phenoxy resin from a viewpoint of making film forming property and adhesive reliability favorable. In addition, when an anisotropic conductive adhesive is made into a film shape, the thickness of a film (that is, anisotropic conductive film) is not particularly limited. However, if the film becomes too thick, the amount of unnecessary resin becomes too large, causing problems with fluidity. Therefore, 100 micrometers or less are preferable and 40 micrometers or less are more preferable. Since handling will become difficult when it becomes too thin, 5 micrometers or more are preferable and 12 micrometers or more are more preferable.
Examples of additives that can be added to the anisotropic conductive adhesive include silane coupling agents, inorganic fillers, colorants, antioxidants, and rust inhibitors. The kind of silane coupling agent is not particularly limited. Examples of the silane coupling agent include epoxy-based, amino-based, mercapto-sulfide-based, and ureido-based silane coupling agents. When these silane coupling agents are added to the anisotropic conductive adhesive, adhesion to an inorganic substrate such as a glass substrate can be improved.
The inorganic filler is an additive for adjusting the fluidity and film strength of the anisotropic conductive adhesive. The kind of inorganic filler is not particularly limited. Examples of the inorganic filler include silica, talc, titanium oxide, calcium carbonate, and magnesium oxide.
The
The
The
The ratio of the particle size (diameter before compression) of the
Further, the compression recovery rate of the
Here, the compression recovery rate is measured by the following method, for example. First, at a temperature of 25 ° C., a load (reverse load value) is applied in the central direction of the
Compression recovery rate (%) = [(L1-L2) / L1] × 100
L1: Compressive displacement from the load value for the origin when the load is applied to the reverse load value L2: Unload displacement from the reverse load value to the load value for the home when releasing the load The displacement of the
When the anisotropic conductive adhesive satisfies the above-described characteristics, the
Moreover, it is preferable that the
As described above, the

<8.評価>
