Abstract
【解決手段】 工程A1の成型工程では、高分子材料を成型し、予め定める形状の基材を得る。工程A2の高分子膜形成工程では、得られた基材を、ホスホリルコリン基を有する化合物と水溶性無機塩とを含有する処理水溶液に浸漬させた状態で紫外線を照射し、基材の表面に、ホスホリルコリン基を有する化合物が重合した高分子鎖を含む高分子膜を形成する。

Description
高分子材料を成型して基材を得る基材形成工程と、
ホスホリルコリン基を有する化合物と水溶性無機塩とを含有する処理水溶液に、基材を浸漬させた状態で紫外線を照射し、基材の少なくとも一部の表面に、ホスホリルコリン基を有する化合物が重合した高分子鎖を含む高分子膜を形成する高分子膜形成工程と、を有することを特徴とする人工関節用摺動部材の製造方法である。
第1実施形態の製造方法は、
(工程A1)成型工程
(工程A2)高分子膜形成工程
の2つの工程からなる。
第2実施形態の製造方法は、
(工程B1)成型工程
(工程B2)架橋工程(高エネルギー線照射工程)
(工程B3)架橋工程(熱処理工程)
(工程B4)高分子膜形成工程
の4つの工程からなる。本実施形態において、基材形成工程は、工程B1の成型工程、工程B2の架橋工程および工程B3の熱処理工程からなる。ただし、工程B2および工程B3は省略可能である。
以下では、UHMWPEからなる基材を浸漬する処理水溶液中の重合性モノマーであるPC化合物濃度と、基材表面に形成される高分子膜の特性との関係について検討する。
寛骨臼カップ10の摺動面16を被覆する高分子膜30の親水性が高いと、生体内において潤滑液となじむと考えられる。潤滑液によって十分に湿潤した高分子膜30は、寛骨臼カップ10に高い潤滑性を付与し、寛骨臼カップ10の耐久性を高めることができると期待される。
高分子膜30は、PC化合物が重合した高分子鎖が、カップ基材12の摺動面16に結合してなるものであり、この高分子膜30の「密度」が高いほど、潤滑液との親和性が高く、耐摩耗性などの特性が向上するものと考えられる。
高分子膜30がより大きな厚みで、基材と密着した状態で基材表面を覆うことができれば、寛骨臼カップ10の耐久性は向上する。
寛骨臼カップ10の摺動面16を被覆する高分子膜30の摩擦係数が小さいと、骨頭22との摺動によって高分子膜30の摩耗量を抑えることができ、寛骨臼カップ10の耐久性を高めることができると期待される。
以下では、UHMWPEからなる基材に代えてPEEK基材を用い、PEEK基材を浸漬する処理水溶液中の重合性モノマーであるPC化合物濃度と、PEEK基材表面に形成される高分子膜の特性との関係について検討する。
実施の形態1に記載した方法と同じようにPEEK基材表面に形成した高分子膜の親水性は、各試験片の高分子膜が形成された面に純水を滴下したときの接触角を測定することで評価した。いずれの条件で重合した場合も高分子膜が形成されたPEEK基材表面の水の静的接触角はおよそ20°であったのに対し、未処理PEEK基材表面のそれはおよそ70°であった。
高分子膜の膜厚は、分光エリプソメーター(J.A.Woollam社製 Lincoln型)によって測定した。測定は70°の入射角で行い、膜厚はコーシーモデルを用いて、波長632.8nmの際の屈折率を1.49として算出した。

Claims (16)
- 人工関節用摺動部材の製造方法であって、
高分子材料を成型して基材を得る基材形成工程と、
ホスホリルコリン基を有する化合物と水溶性無機塩とを含有する処理水溶液に、基材を浸漬させた状態で紫外線を照射し、基材の少なくとも一部の表面に、ホスホリルコリン基を有する化合物が重合した高分子鎖を含む高分子膜を形成する高分子膜形成工程と、を有することを特徴とする人工関節用摺動部材の製造方法。 - 水溶性無機塩は、アルカリ金属塩またはアルカリ土類金属塩であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の人工関節用摺動部材の製造方法。
- アルカリ金属塩は、ナトリウム塩、カリウム塩、リチウム塩およびセシウム塩からなる群から選ばれる1種以上であることを特徴とする請求項2記載の人工関節用摺動部材の製造方法。
- アルカリ土類金属塩は、カルシウム塩、ストロンチウム塩、バリウム塩およびラジウム塩からなる群から選ばれる1種以上であることを特徴とする請求項2記載の人工関節用摺動部材の製造方法。
- 水溶性無機塩の濃度が0.01〜5.0mol/Lであることを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれか1つに記載の人工関節用摺動部材の製造方法。
- 水溶性無機塩の濃度が1.0〜5.0mol/Lであることを特徴とする請求項1〜5のいずれか1つに記載の人工関節用摺動部材の製造方法。
- 水溶性無機塩の濃度が1.0〜3.0mol/Lであることを特徴とする請求項1〜6のいずれか1つに記載の人工関節用摺動部材の製造方法。
- 高分子膜形成工程で形成される高分子膜の膜厚が100nm以上であることを特徴とする請求項1〜7のいずれか1つに記載の人工関節用摺動部材の製造方法。
- 高分子膜形成工程において紫外線照射時間が1分間以上であることを特徴とする請求項1〜8のいずれか1つに記載の人工関節用摺動部材の製造方法。
- 高分子膜形成工程において紫外線照射時間が11分間〜90分間であることを特徴とする請求項1〜9のいずれか1つに記載の人工関節用摺動部材の製造方法。
- 高分子膜形成工程において紫外線照射時間が23分間〜90分間であることを特徴とする請求項1〜10のいずれか1つに記載の人工関節用摺動部材の製造方法。
- 高分子材料が超高分子量ポリエチレン材料またはポリエーテルエーテルケトン材料であることを特徴とする請求項1〜11のいずれか1つに記載の人工関節用摺動部材の製造方法。
- 超高分子量ポリエチレン材料は、分子量が100万〜700万であることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の人工関節用摺動部材の製造方法。
- ポリエーテルエーテルケトン材料は、密度が1.2〜1.6であることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の人工関節用摺動部材の製造方法。
- 基材には抗酸化剤、架橋材または強化材の少なくともいずれかである添加剤を含むことを特徴とする請求項1〜14のいずれか1つに記載の人工関節用摺動部材の製造方法。
- 高分子材料は、架橋処理された材料であることを特徴とする請求項1〜15のいずれか1つに記載の人工関節用摺動部材の製造方法。
