Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a lithium ion capacitor used for backup power source, regeneration, power storage, etc. of various electronic devices, hybrid vehicles and fuel cell vehicles.
Conventionally, when an electronic device is operated, the energy required for the operation is taken into the electronic device. However, it is difficult to consume all of the taken-in energy for the operation of the electronic device, and part of it is originally used as heat energy. It was consumed without achieving the purpose.
It is considered that the consumed energy is temporarily stored as electric energy in the electricity storage element and reused when necessary, thereby reducing the consumed energy and increasing the efficiency.
In order to realize this, a power storage element that can extract energy necessary for the operation of the electronic device with an appropriate output has become essential. There are roughly two types of storage element candidates: capacitors and secondary batteries.
Among capacitors, an electric double layer capacitor has attracted attention and is used in many fields because it has a large capacity, rapid charge / discharge, and high long-term reliability.
This electric double layer capacitor uses a polarizable electrode mainly composed of activated carbon for both the positive electrode and the negative electrode, and the withstand voltage of the electric double layer capacitor is 1.2 V when an aqueous electrolyte is used. When the liquid is used, it is 2.5 to 3.3 V.
However, when viewed from the field of secondary batteries, these conventional electric double layer capacitors have a problem of low energy density. The energy density is proportional to the square of the capacity and the withstand voltage.
For this reason, improvement in capacity and withstand voltage has been a problem.
In order to increase the withstand voltage of the capacitor in order to solve the above problems, as a means for solving the problem, a capacitor in which the negative electrode potential is lowered and the withstand voltage is improved by preliminarily storing (pre-doping) lithium ions in the carbon material of the negative electrode. Development is underway. This capacitor uses the negative electrode that occludes the lithium ions and the positive electrode that is a polarizable electrode. The positive electrode and the negative electrode are impregnated with an electrolyte containing a lithium salt, and the lithium ions pre-doped to the negative electrode are not released. Discharge.
FIG. 8A is a top cross-sectional view of a capacitor using lithium ions as a cation shown as an example of a conventional capacitor, and FIG. 8B is a partially cutaway front view of an
In FIG. 8A, this conventional capacitor is formed by alternately stacking
Further, the
In FIG. 8B, the
Further, the outermost periphery of the
As described above, the conventional capacitor has a lithium ion supply source provided at two locations, the outer peripheral portion and the central portion of the
As prior art document information relating to this application, for example, Patent Document 1 is known.
By the above method, the lithium ion capacitor can complete pre-doping earlier.
However, the lithium ion capacitor needs further improvement in reliability when charging / discharging for a long time. This is because when a lithium ion capacitor performs charge / discharge, lithium performs a charge / discharge by a chemical reaction. Lithium is generally chemically active. In other words, it tends to be chemically unstable, so chemical reactions (deactivation) that do not contribute to charge / discharge are likely to occur, and stable charge / discharge should be continued for a long time. Is difficult.
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a lithium ion capacitor having excellent long-term reliability.
In order to solve the above problems, the lithium ion capacitor of the present invention is such that the positive electrode and the negative electrode face each other via a separator, and the negative electrode layer has a facing portion facing the positive electrode on the surface facing the positive electrode, and the positive electrode A non-opposing portion that is non-opposing to the electrode layer, and a protective layer that is in contact with the non-opposing portion is provided. The protective layer is a Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometer (FT-IR). The peak ratio P1 / P2 between the peak P1 having a wave number between 3000 and 3600 and the peak P2 having a wave number between 2800 and 3000 is less than 1.38. It is characterized by.
From the above configuration, the lithium ion capacitor of the present invention can improve the reliability of the cycle characteristics during charging and discharging.
This is because the deterioration of the cycle characteristics of the lithium ion capacitor with time is considered to occur in the non-opposing part of the negative electrode with respect to the positive electrode, and by providing the protective layer on the surface of the non-opposing part of the negative electrode, This is because lithium can suppress contact with a compound such as a water molecule that causes deactivation.
Hereinafter, the present invention and the invention described in all claims will be described with reference to the drawings.
1 is a partially cutaway perspective view of a capacitor according to a first embodiment of the present invention.

A method for manufacturing the capacitor in this embodiment will be described. In addition, the manufacturing method of the capacitor of a present Example is an example for implement | achieving the structure of this invention, and this invention is not limited to the following manufacturing method.
First, a positive electrode manufacturing process for manufacturing the
For example, a high-purity aluminum foil having a thickness of about 15 μm (containing Al of 99% or more) is used as the current collector 2a, and the surface of the aluminum foil is roughened by electrolytic etching in a chlorine-based etching solution.
Then, the electrode layer 2b is formed on the front and back surfaces of the roughened current collector 2a. Examples of the material constituting the electrode layer 2b include activated carbon, a binder, and a conductive additive.
The activated carbon is, for example, coke activated carbon having an average particle diameter of about 3 μm, the binder is, for example, an aqueous solution of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), and the conductive assistant is, for example, acetylene black, and the weight ratio is 10: 2: 1. Use a mixture of. (Neither shown) This mixture is kneaded with a kneader to adjust to a predetermined viscosity. In kneading, for example, carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) is used as a dispersant.
This paste is applied to the front and back surfaces of the current collector 2a and dried in an air atmosphere at 100 ° C. to form an electrode layer 2b having a thickness of about 40 μm. Thereafter, the current collector 2a provided with the electrode layer 2b is slit so as to have a predetermined width. Thereby, the application area of the electrode layer 2b formed on the surface of the current collector 2a of the
Further, a part of the electrode layer 2b formed on the front and back surfaces of the current collector 2a is removed, and the lead wire 5a is connected to a portion where the electrode layer 2b is not formed by a method such as needle caulking.
As described above, the
Next, a negative electrode manufacturing process for manufacturing the
For example, a copper foil having a thickness of about 15 μm is used as the
When preparing this paste, CMC as a dispersant and a carbon material that occludes lithium are added and dispersed in water, and then a binder is added, stirred and kneaded to prepare a paste used for the
This paste is applied to the front and back surfaces of the
Further, like the
Thus, the
In addition, although the soft carbon (graphitizable carbon) was used in the present Example for the material of the carbon material constituting the electrode layer 3b, the present invention is not limited to this, and graphitic carbon and hard carbon (non-graphitizable carbon) are used. ), Low-temperature calcined carbon, and the like.
Next, a lithium disposing step is performed. In this lithium disposing step, a lithium layer (not shown) serving as a dope source is provided in the
The pre-doping process will be described in detail later.
Next, an element manufacturing process for manufacturing the power storage element 1 will be described.
FIG. 2 is a schematic plan view showing the configuration of the electricity storage device 1 of the present embodiment. FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view of the electricity storage device 1 shown in FIG. 2 cut along the cross-section indicating line AA ′. It is the figure which extracted and showed the part.
In this element manufacturing process, as shown in FIG. 2, the
From the above, the electricity storage device 1 of this example is completed.
Next, a housing process for housing the power storage element 1 and the electrolytic solution in the
In the electrolytic solution, for example, lithium ion as an electrolyte cation and an anion containing a fluorine atom as an electrolyte anion are preferable in consideration of withstand voltage characteristics. In particular, PF 6 - is used as a solvent, for example, a high dielectric constant ethylene carbonate (EC). And a low-viscosity dimethyl carbonate (DMC) mixed at a weight ratio of 1: 1 is used.
The electrolyte solution in the present invention is not limited to the above configuration, and the same effect can be obtained as long as it contains lithium ions.
As an example from the viewpoint of heat dissipation, the

In this step, a work called pre-doping, which is a process of preliminarily occluding lithium ions in the
In this embodiment, the power storage element 1 is housed in the
Incidentally, the pre-doping performed on the
Next, the sealing process will be described.
In a state where the lead wires 5a and 5b protruding from the electric storage element 1 are passed through the through holes provided in the sealing member 7, the sealing member 7 is disposed in the opening of the
Finally, as a quality maintenance process, after aging the assembled capacitor, the initial operation is confirmed.
From the above, the capacitor of this example is completed.
In the lithium ion capacitor of the present invention, the electrode layer 2b of the
With this configuration, the lithium ion capacitor of the present invention can improve reliability by suppressing deterioration with time in cycle characteristics. This is because one of the causes for deteriorating the cycle characteristics of the lithium ion capacitor is considered to be a reaction in the
On the other hand, the lithium ion capacitor of the present invention has a problem by causing the
In the present invention, the reason why the
A measurement method using a Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometer (FT-IR) necessary for specifying the configuration of the present invention uses a single reflection type ATR method. At this time, a Nicolet 6700 (manufactured by Thermo Electron) FT-IR and a Smart Orbit one-time reflection type ATR accessory (manufactured by OMNIC) are used as measurement devices. Then, using a prism plate made of diamond, the spectral resolution was set to 2 cm −1 and the ATR spectrum was integrated and measured (according to JIS K 0117 General Rules for Infrared Spectroscopy). Then, the spectrum that is measured from this measurement method, the present invention, a peak intensity P1 in the range of wave numbers from 2,800 to 3,000 (cm -1), peak intensity in the range wavenumber of 3000~3600 (cm -1) P2 Is focused on. In these peak intensities, the peak intensity P1 is a peak intensity indicating the presence of a hydroxyl group, and the peak intensity P2 is a peak intensity indicating the presence of an alkyl structure. In the present invention, the peak intensity ratio P1 / P2 obtained from these two peak intensities is determined by how much the material constituting the
The configuration of the
4A to 4C are schematic plan views illustrating an example of the configuration of the
In this embodiment, as shown in FIG. 4 (a), strip-shaped
In FIG. 4A, the length difference of the formation width Ls1 in the longitudinal direction is not provided between both ends. However, as shown in FIGS. The formation width Ls3 of the protective layer 4f at the winding end portion of the
Moreover, it is preferable that the
FIGS. 5A to 5C are schematic cross-sectional views showing the configuration of the
Although the
Although various configurations of the
In addition, the subject of this invention has generate | occur | produced in the lithium ion capacitor of this invention by having the
In addition, in the lithium ion capacitor of this example, in order to reduce the presence of water molecules in the electricity storage element 1 which is the subject of the present invention, the water content in the electrolytic solution is preferably 1000 ppm or less.
In the pre-doping step, as an example of a pre-doping method, after lithium in the lithium layer is ionized, in order to reduce the distance traveled by the ions, a method of performing pre-doping by providing the lithium layer in the electric storage element 1 There is. When this method is performed, once the electricity storage device 1 is manufactured, it is difficult to dry the electricity storage device 1 thereafter. This is because if the electricity storage device 1 is dried in a state including the lithium layer, moisture to be removed from the electricity storage device 1 reacts with the lithium layer and causes lithium hydroxide and gas generation. is there. Therefore, it has been necessary to manufacture a lithium ion capacitor in a state where a predetermined amount of moisture is contained in the electric storage element 1. At this time, in the activated carbon having a large surface area with a specific surface area exceeding 1000 m 2 / g, water of 5000 ppm or more remains inside. In contrast, the lithium ion capacitor of the present invention suppresses the deterioration of cycle characteristics by suppressing the reaction with moisture by the function of the

As shown in FIG. 7, the lithium ion capacitor of the present example is different from the lithium ion capacitor of Example 1 in which the configuration of the energy storage device 1 was wound. The

(Performance evaluation test)
The characteristic test of the lithium ion capacitor of the present invention will be described below.
In this test, the following samples are configured by changing only the configuration of the separator based on the configuration of the lithium ion capacitor of Example 1.
In sample 1, a polypropylene nonwoven fabric having an average fiber diameter of 8 μm was used for the
The
For each of the lithium ion capacitors of Samples 1 to 3, in order to confirm the value of the FT-IR peak ratio of the
As described above (Table 1), it can be seen that
In addition, the electrolyte solution used for the capacitor of a present Example is not limited to the said structure, The thing which mixed 2 or more types among the anions shown by the following chemical formula is useful.
This is important for the cell capacity and resistance of the capacitor, particularly the capacity and resistance of the
For the above electrolyte, as a solvent used in the present invention, a mixture of cyclic carbonate such as propylene carbonate, ethylene carbonate, gamma butyrolactone, sulfolane, ethyl methyl carbonate, dimethyl carbonate, diethyl carbonate, butylene carbonate, and chain carbonate, In addition to cyclic esters, chain esters, cyclic ethers, chain ethers, organic solvents having epoxy groups, sulfone groups, vinyl groups, carbonyl groups, amide groups, and cyano groups, two or more types can be selected as appropriate. .
As described above, in the lithium ion capacitor according to the present invention, the protective layer with a small amount of a compound that causes moisture generation is opposed to the non-facing portion of the negative electrode layer that is not opposed to the positive electrode. Thereby, it is suppressed that a water | moisture content reacts in a non-opposing part, and deterioration of cycling characteristics can be suppressed as a lithium ion capacitor.
The lithium ion capacitor according to the present invention is excellent in extending the life of cycle characteristics. Therefore, it shows an excellent energy density even in rapid charge / discharge, and is useful as a hybrid vehicle power source used for regeneration or backup, for example.
