Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a laser device, an ignition device, and an internal combustion engine, and more particularly to a laser device having a laser resonator, an ignition device having the laser device, and an internal combustion engine including the ignition device.
A laser device using a laser crystal that oscillates by optical excitation is expected to be applied to various fields such as an ignition device, a laser processing machine, and a medical device.
For example, in Patent Document 1, the laser device includes at least one refracting device, the refracting device refracts at least part of the pumping light, and is formed integrally with the laser device. An ignition device for an internal combustion engine is disclosed.
However, it is difficult to reduce the size of the conventional laser device.
The present invention includes a light source, a laser resonator to which light from the light source is incident, a first optical element that increases a divergence angle of light from the laser resonator, and light from the first optical element. A second optical element that collimates the light, and a third optical element that condenses the light that has passed through the second optical element.
According to the laser device of the present invention, the size can be reduced.
The Q-switched laser is characterized by increasing the inversion distribution by irradiating light from the excitation light source in advance and taking out energy by releasing the Q-switch element, so that high peak energy can be obtained. .
Because of such characteristics, the Q-switched laser is expected to be applied to an ignition device for a combustible air-fuel mixture in a combustion chamber in an internal combustion engine.
At present, ignition of a combustible air-fuel mixture introduced into a combustion chamber in an internal combustion engine is mainly performed by an ignition plug, that is, spark ignition by a discharge method. However, in spark ignition, due to the configuration of the spark plug, the electrode is exposed in the combustion chamber, so that the electrode is inevitably consumed. Therefore, in the case of spark ignition by the discharge method, there is a disadvantage that the life of the spark plug is short.
On the other hand, as in the ignition device disclosed in Patent Document 1, laser ignition that performs ignition by condensing laser light does not require an electrode, and the electrode is exposed in the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine. There is nothing. Therefore, it is not necessary to consider the consumption of the electrodes, and the life of the ignition device can be expected to be extended.
However, in the ignition device disclosed in Patent Document 1, it is necessary to increase the distance between the laser device and the condensing lens in order to narrow down the laser light emitted from the laser device by the condensing lens. There was the inconvenience of incurring an increase in size.
Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. FIG. 1 schematically shows a main part of an

Thus, a series of processes consisting of intake, compression, ignition, combustion, and exhaust are repeated. Then, the
The
As shown in FIG. 2 as an example, the
The
The surface-emitting
The surface emitting laser is an advantageous light source for exciting a Q-switched laser whose characteristics greatly change due to the wavelength shift because the wavelength shift due to temperature is very small. Thus, when a surface emitting laser is used as an excitation light source, there is an advantage that environmental temperature control can be simplified.
The first condensing
The
By providing the
The light incident on the
The second condensing
The
The
Here, the Nd: YAG crystal and the Cr: YAG crystal are both ceramics. The
The light from the second condensing
The surface on the incident side (−Z side) of the
The first and second surfaces are coated with a dielectric multilayer film corresponding to the wavelength of light emitted from the
Specifically, the first surface is coated with a sufficiently high transmittance for light having a wavelength of 808 nm and a sufficiently high reflectance for light having a wavelength of 1064 nm. In addition, the second surface is coated with a reflectance that is selected so that a desired threshold is obtained for light having a wavelength of 1064 nm.
As a result, the light resonates and is amplified in the
As shown in FIG. 4 as an example, the emission
The
The
The
The
Even if the
In the present embodiment, by providing the
By the way, in the surface emitting laser having a plurality of light emitting portions, the beam diameter of light incident on the
That is, here, the light emitted from the
Further, by providing the
Furthermore, since there is little aberration, even the light that has passed through the outer portion of the
Returning to FIG. 2, the driving
As is clear from the above description, in the
As described above, the
The

Therefore, it is possible to reduce the size of the laser device without lowering the light collection position accuracy.

However, the present invention is not limited to this. For example, an edge emitting laser may be used.
