The present invention relates to a polarizing plate, and more particularly, to a polarizing plate with an adhesive layer provided with an adhesive layer.
The polarizing plate is widely used in display devices such as a liquid crystal display device, especially in various mobile devices such as smartphones in recent years. As a polarizing plate, the thing of the structure which bonded the protective film on the single side | surface or both surfaces of the polarizer using the adhesive agent is common.
A polarizing plate is usually bonded to an image display element of a display device (a liquid crystal cell or the like in a liquid crystal display device) or another optical member using an adhesive layer. Therefore, the polarizing plate is often produced as a polarizing plate with an adhesive layer in which an adhesive layer is previously laminated on one outer surface (for example,
A polarizing plate with an adhesive layer is required to have heat resistance such that characteristics and appearance shape are not easily deteriorated by heat. However, when a polarizing plate with an adhesive layer is subjected to a heat resistance test, There was a problem that air bubbles were mixed in the interface between the layer and the base material (glass substrate or the like) to which the layer was bonded.
Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a polarizing plate with a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer that is less likely to be warped and mixed with bubbles even when a heat resistance test is performed.

(2) Dimensional Shrinkage Characteristics of Polarizing Plate The polarizing plate according to the present invention has a dimensional shrinkage amount of 500 μm or less, preferably 495 μm or less when heated at 85 ° C. for 500 hours in the absorption axis direction. When the amount of dimensional shrinkage is within this range, it is possible to effectively prevent warpage and air bubble mixing when the heat resistance test is performed on the assumption that the loss elastic modulus at 80 ° C. of the pressure-sensitive

It is represented by More specifically, the absorption axis is an absorption axis of the

(3) Polarizer The
As the polyvinyl alcohol resin, a saponified polyvinyl acetate resin can be used. Examples of the polyvinyl acetate resin include, in addition to polyvinyl acetate, which is a homopolymer of vinyl acetate, copolymers with other monomers copolymerizable with vinyl acetate. Examples of other monomers copolymerizable with vinyl acetate include unsaturated carboxylic acids, olefins, vinyl ethers, unsaturated sulfonic acids, (meth) acrylamides having ammonium groups, and the like. In the present specification, “(meth) acryl” means at least one selected from acryl and methacryl. The same applies to “(meth) acryloyl”.
The saponification degree of the polyvinyl alcohol resin is usually about 85 to 100 mol%, preferably 98 mol% or more. The polyvinyl alcohol-based resin may be modified, and for example, polyvinyl formal or polyvinyl acetal modified with aldehydes may be used. The average degree of polymerization of the polyvinyl alcohol resin is usually about 1000 to 10000, preferably about 1500 to 5000. The average degree of polymerization of the polyvinyl alcohol resin can be determined according to JIS K 6726.
What formed such a polyvinyl alcohol-type resin into a film is used as a raw film of the polarizer 5 (polarizing film). The method for forming the polyvinyl alcohol-based resin into a film is not particularly limited, and a known method is employed. The film thickness of the polyvinyl alcohol-based raw film is, for example, about 10 to 150 μm.
Uniaxial stretching of the polyvinyl alcohol-based resin film can be performed before, simultaneously with, or after dyeing the dichroic dye. When uniaxial stretching is performed after dyeing, this uniaxial stretching may be performed before boric acid treatment or during boric acid treatment. Moreover, you may uniaxially stretch in these several steps. In order to reduce the dimensional shrinkage and the dimensional shrinkage ratio of the polarizer 5 (and hence the polarizing plate) in the absorption axis direction, it is preferable to perform uniaxial stretching separately before boric acid treatment and during boric acid treatment.
In uniaxial stretching, it may be uniaxially stretched between rolls having different peripheral speeds, or may be uniaxially stretched using a hot roll. The uniaxial stretching may be dry stretching in which stretching is performed in the air, or may be wet stretching in which stretching is performed in a state where a polyvinyl alcohol-based resin film is swollen using a solvent. The draw ratio is usually about 3 to 8 times.
As a method of dyeing the polyvinyl alcohol resin film with the dichroic dye, for example, a method of immersing the polyvinyl alcohol resin film in an aqueous solution containing the dichroic dye is employed. As the dichroic dye, iodine or a dichroic organic dye is used. In addition, it is preferable that the polyvinyl alcohol-type resin film performs the immersion process to water before a dyeing process.
As the dyeing treatment with iodine, a method of immersing a polyvinyl alcohol resin film in an aqueous solution containing iodine and potassium iodide is usually employed. The iodine content in the aqueous solution can be about 0.01 to 1 part by weight per 100 parts by weight of water. The content of potassium iodide can be about 0.5 to 20 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of water. Moreover, the temperature of this aqueous solution can be about 20-40 degreeC. On the other hand, as a dyeing treatment with a dichroic organic dye, a method of immersing a polyvinyl alcohol-based resin film in an aqueous solution containing a dichroic organic dye is usually employed. The aqueous solution containing the dichroic organic dye may contain an inorganic salt such as sodium sulfate as a dyeing assistant. The content of the dichroic organic dye in this aqueous solution can be about 1 × 10 −4 to 10 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of water. The temperature of the aqueous solution can be about 20 to 80 ° C.
The boric acid treatment after dyeing with a dichroic dye can be performed by immersing the dyed polyvinyl alcohol-based resin film in a boric acid-containing aqueous solution. The amount of boric acid in the boric acid-containing aqueous solution can be about 0.1 to 15 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of water, but the dimensional shrinkage and dimensional shrinkage of the polarizer 5 (and hence the polarizing plate) in the absorption axis direction. In order to reduce the rate, it is preferable to lower the boron content in the
When iodine is used as the dichroic dye, the boric acid-containing aqueous solution preferably contains potassium iodide. The amount of potassium iodide in the boric acid-containing aqueous solution can usually be about 0.1 to 15 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of water, but in order to reduce the dimensional shrinkage and the dimensional shrinkage, boric acid is contained. Since it is preferable to set the potassium iodide concentration in the aqueous solution high, the amount of potassium iodide is preferably about 5 to 12 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of water.
The polyvinyl alcohol-based resin film after the boric acid treatment is usually washed by immersing it in water or an aqueous potassium iodide solution. You may combine washing | cleaning by water and washing | cleaning by potassium iodide. In order to reduce the dimensional shrinkage amount and the dimensional shrinkage rate, the washing treatment preferably includes a washing treatment with potassium iodide. The temperature of the water or the potassium iodide aqueous solution in the washing treatment is usually about 5 to 40 ° C. The immersion time is usually about 1 to 120 seconds.
A

L 0 and L 1 were measured using a two-dimensional measuring instrument “NEXIV VMR-12072” manufactured by Nikon Corporation, with the test piece-bonded glass substrate placed on a table so that the polarizing plate faced upward.
Also, the following formula:
Dimensional shrinkage (%) = 100 × (L 0 −L 1 ) / L 0
Dimensional shrinkage was determined according to The results are also shown in Table 1.
〔Evaluation test〕
(1) Evaluation of warpage of polarizing plate The amount of warpage of the polarizing plate when heated at 85 ° C. for 500 hours was measured as follows. The separator was peeled off from the obtained polarizing plate with the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer, and bonded to a glass substrate via the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer. After heating for 500 hours in an 85 ° C. dry environment, the polarizing plate is placed on a table so that the polarizing plate faces upward, the height from the table at the most warped part is measured with a ruler, and the height is taken as the amount of warpage. . The case where the amount of warpage was less than 0.5 mm was designated as A (small amount of warpage), and the case where it was 0.5 mm or more was designated as B (large amount of warpage). The results are shown in Table 1.
(2) Evaluation of bubble generation A test piece was cut out from the obtained polarizing plate with an adhesive layer. The shape of the test piece was such that the long side was parallel to the stretching direction (absorption axis direction of the polarizer) 200 mm long × 150 mm short. The separator was peeled from the test piece and bonded to the glass substrate via the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer. This test piece bonded glass substrate was heated for 500 hours in an 85 ° C. dry environment. From the glass substrate side, it was observed with a loupe whether air bubbles were mixed in the interface between the glass substrate and the adhesive layer. The case where bubbles were not recognized was designated as A, and the case where bubbles were recognized was designated as B. The results are shown in Table 1.
