Abstract
Description
また、前記液晶表示装置はカラー映像を表示するために、液晶表示パネルに赤色(Red)、緑色(green)、青色(Blue)の3原色等で構成された画素を具備する。最近は表示映像の輝度を増大させるために液晶表示パネルにホワイト画素がさらに具備される技術が提示されている。
ガンマ変換部125は第1及び第2ルックアップテーブル130、140を参照してレッド、グリーン、ブルー、及びホワイト画素データR”、G”、B”、W’の各々を2つのガンマ特性を有するデータに変換する。
各画素行PRを基準にした場合、第1方向D1に第1レッド画素SPX1_1及び第2レッド画素SPX2_1が交互に配置されてもよい。第1及び第2グリーン画素SPX1_2、SPX2_2もやはり各画素行PR内で第1方向D1に交互に配置され、第1及び第2ブルー画素SPX1_3、SPX2_3も各画素行PR内で第1方向D1に交互に配置される。
図8を参照すれば、1つのサブ画素行内には同一カラーの画素の中で正極性のハイ階調電圧(H+)を受信する画素と負極性のハイ階調電圧(H−)を受信する画素とが互いに同一の個数に配置される。また、上記したサブ画素行内には同一カラーの画素の中で正極性のロー階調電圧(L+)を受信する画素と負極性のロー階調電圧(L−)を受信する画素とが互いに同一の個数に配置される。

Claims (10)
- プライマリーカラーを表示するプライマリーカラー画素と、
ホワイトカラーを表示するホワイト画素と、を含み、
前記ホワイト画素の中で第1ホワイト画素は、第1ガンマカーブに基づいて生成された第1ホワイト画素信号を受信し、前記ホワイト画素の中で第2ホワイト画素は、第2ガンマカーブに基づいて生成された第2ホワイト画素信号を受信することを特徴とする表示装置。 - 前記第1及び第2ガンマカーブは、同一階調で互に異なる輝度値を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記プライマリーカラー画素と前記ホワイト画素とは、複数の画素群を形成し、
前記画素群の中で、第1画素群は、前記第1ホワイト画素を含み、第2画素群は、前記第2ホワイト画素を含み、
前記第1及び第2画素群は、互いに隣接して配置されることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の表示装置。 - 前記プライマリーカラー画素は、レッドカラー、グリーンカラー、及びブルーカラーを表示するレッド、グリーン、及びブルー画素を含み、
前記第1及び第2画素群の各々は、前記レッド、グリーン、及びブルー画素をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の表示装置。 - 前記第1画素群の第1画素及び第2画素群の第2画素は、前記レッド、グリーン、及びブルーカラーの中で互いに同一のカラーを表示し、
前記第1及び第2画素の中で1つは、前記第1ガンマカーブに基づいて生成されたハイ信号を受信し、残る1つは、前記第2ガンマカーブに基づいて生成されたロー信号を受信することを特徴とする請求項4に記載の表示装置。 - 前記複数の画素群は、行方向及び列方向に配列され、
各画素行には前記第1及び第2画素群が交互に配置されることを特徴とする請求項5に記載の表示装置。 - 前記各画素行は、第1及び第2サブ画素行を含み、
前記第1画素及び第2画素は、前記第1及び第2サブ画素行の中で互に異なるサブ画素行に各々具備されることを特徴とする請求項5に記載の表示装置。 - 前記第1サブ画素行には複数の前記第1画素が具備され、前記第2サブ画素行には複数の前記第2画素が具備されることを特徴とする請求項7に記載の表示装置。
- 前記第1画素は、正極性を有する第1正極性画素及び負極性を有する第1負極性画素を含み、
前記第2画素は、正極性を有する第2正極性画素及び負極性を有する第2負極性画素を含むことを特徴とする請求項8に記載の表示装置。 - 前記第1サブ画素行内で前記第1正極性画素の個数と前記第1負極性画素の個数とは、互いに同一であり、
前記第2サブ画素行内で前記第2正極性画素の個数と前記第2負極性画素の個数とは、互いに同一であることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の表示装置。
