Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an image reading apparatus and an image forming apparatus.
Generally, an automatic document feeder (hereinafter simply referred to as “ADF”) mounted on an image reading device for reading an image of a document separates and reads the documents one by one from a bundle of documents loaded on a document tray. It is designed to be transported toward the position. An image of a document conveyed by the ADF is read by an image reading unit arranged at a reading position.
In recent years, when reading a double-sided image of a document, a front image is read by a first image reading unit, and a second image reading unit is disposed on a transport path in the ADF, and the back image is read by the second image reading unit. ADF that employs a one-pass double-sided reading method for reading the image is increasing.
At this time, in order to accurately read the back side image of the document by the one-pass double-sided scanning method, the document is stably conveyed at a predetermined constant speed at the second reading position where the second image reading unit is disposed, and the document It is important that the is close to the reading surface.
For this reason, the second image reading unit is disposed at a relatively linear position in the conveyance path from the document feeding to the discharging.
On the other hand, along with the arrangement of the second image reading means, a second supply port is arranged separately from the first supply port mainly for a normal document, and a small business card size or the like is provided from the second supply port. Various proposals have been made that enable image reading of a size original.
In the ADF, the transport path from the paper feed to the discharge overlaps with a part of the paper feed tray and the discharge tray being separated from each other vertically for the purpose of transporting and reading a document having a size as large as possible while reducing the size of the ADF. Are arranged as follows. As a result, a U-turn conveyance path is formed in the middle of the conveyance path from paper feed to discharge.
For this reason, the above-described normal document refers to the minimum size (for example, postcard size) to the maximum size (for example, vertical transport of A4 or A3 standard size) that enables the document to be taken over and transported using the U-turn transport path. These are generic names of allowable sizes set in advance. Note that, in addition to the case where a normal document is determined only for the above-described size, it is also possible to determine a document thickness that cannot be bent and reversed, for example.
Therefore, a small-size original is mainly a business card size as a standard size, but is not limited to a business card size as long as it is smaller than the minimum size as a normal size.
Such a small-size document is, for example, thick paper compared to plain paper for a business card, but it can be transported on a transport path that causes a slight deflection. It is only necessary to arrange the second supply port at a position where it can be inserted from the middle of the ADF transport path.
On the other hand, even with the same business card size, for example, a thick resin card such as a cash card such as a bank or various credit cards (hereinafter, also simply referred to as “card”) causes bending. It was difficult. In particular, in these thick resin cards in recent years, the occurrence of bending is almost strictly prohibited, such as mounting an IC chip or the like.
However, in each of the various technologies described above, the path from paper feed to discharge is not completely straight, so the above-described thick resin cards are automatically performed from conveyance to reading as a document. It was difficult.
For this reason, in the conventional image reading apparatus, the card is placed on the document placing table of the image reading apparatus, and the image of the card is read by closing the document cover. However, there is a problem that not only the operation of the document feeder as the document cover is required to be opened and closed, but also the operation is complicated, and it is not easy to remove the card from the document table, and the misplacement cannot be prevented. .
Therefore, in order to eliminate the complexity of the card reading operation and forgetting to place the card, a configuration has been proposed in which an image reading unit and a conveying device dedicated to the card are provided in the ADF document discharge unit (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
However, the configuration disclosed in
As described above, there is a demand for an image reading apparatus and an image forming apparatus that can cope with recent diversification of document reading in addition to downsizing of the apparatus main body and shortening of reading time. There was nothing.
The present invention has been made in view of the circumstances as described above, and contributes to downsizing of the apparatus main body and shortening of the reading time, and is small in size and thick without additionally installing a card dedicated reading apparatus. It is an object of the present invention to provide an image reading apparatus and an image forming apparatus that can read various documents including the card and can remove the card easily and without misplacement.
In order to achieve the above object, an image reading apparatus according to the present invention includes a document tray on which a document to be scanned is loaded, a first supply port for taking out a document loaded on the document tray, and the first supply. A transport path for transporting the document picked up by the mouth toward the first discharge port, a first reading device arranged on the transport path for reading an image on one side of the document being transported, and disposed on the transport path. A second reading device that reads an image on the other side of the document being conveyed, and a second supply port that supplies the document toward the middle part of the conveyance path separately from the first supply port, are located on the same plane And a straight conveyance path from the second supply port to the second discharge port via the second reading device.
In the present invention, while contributing to downsizing of the apparatus main body and shortening of the reading time, it is possible to read various originals including a small card and a thick card without additionally installing a dedicated card reader. It is possible to provide an image reading apparatus and an image forming apparatus that can remove a card easily and without misplacement.
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.

(Embodiment 1)
As shown in FIG. 1, the copying
As shown in FIG. 2, the copying
The
For example, the
Then, the
By the way, although a detailed configuration is omitted, the
Further, the
Further, when forming images on both sides of the recording paper P, the
The
As will be described in detail later, the
The
On the other hand, when reading a document placed on the
The various controls of the
The
The
The
Next, a detailed configuration of the
As described above, the
The
A
The
The
Here, the
The
The
The
The
In a state where the
FIG. 3A shows the position of the home position of the
On the other hand, when reading a moving document using the
When moving from the home position to the reading position R for the moving document, that is, directly below the
At this time, in this embodiment, the
Note that the
As described above, the
Further, the optical axis from the
Therefore, the distance between the
As a result, it is satisfactory in both cases of moving document reading in which the moving document is read through the upper surface of the
The
Next, a detailed configuration of the
As shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, the
The
The
The
As shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, the
The
The
The
At this time, the
The
The
The
The
The
The

The second

The

As described above, according to the present invention, the
By the way, the present invention is not limited to the configuration of the first embodiment, and various configurations can be made without departing from the spirit and technical idea thereof. Hereinafter, other embodiments will be described in order.
(Embodiment 2)
8 to 10 show a second embodiment of the present invention. In the second embodiment, the entire view of the copying machine 1 (corresponding to FIGS. 1 and 2) and the entire view of the ADF 5 (corresponding to FIGS. 4 and 5) are omitted, and are the same as those in the first embodiment. The same reference numerals are given to the same or functionally the same configuration, and the detailed description thereof is omitted.
As shown in FIGS. 8 and 9, in the second embodiment, the

Thereby, the back side image of the document S or the card C can be read before the abutting

In the second embodiment, the entire card C does not come out of the through

(Embodiment 3)
11 to 19 show a third embodiment of the present invention. In the third embodiment, the general view of the copying machine 1 (corresponding to FIGS. 1 and 2) and the general view of the ADF 5 (corresponding to FIGS. 4 and 5) are omitted, and The same reference numerals are given to the same configuration or the functionally same configuration, and the detailed description thereof is omitted.

On the other hand, the present embodiment relates to a card-type document reading unit that can be mounted even in a small ADF that can pass paper only up to A4 size. Also in the present embodiment, flatbed reading and ADF reading are adopted as document reading methods using the
In flat bed reading, the
In the ADF reading, the document S set on the
As shown in FIG. 11B, the
The card C is supplied from the
The card C is switched back toward the
In the present embodiment, the
FIG. 12 is a perspective view showing another configuration of the abutting
The
Since the card C is narrower than the normal document S, the card is conveyed straight through the
Hereinafter, with reference to FIG. 11 and the like, an operation at the time of reading an image of a normal bendable original S will be described. As shown in FIG. 11A, the original S set on the original tray 51 (see FIG. 4) is separated one by one by a
Then, after the images of the front and back surfaces of the document S are simultaneously read by the
Hereinafter, the operation at the time of image reading of the card C which is not preferable to be curved will be described with reference to FIGS.
First, in step S1 of the flowchart of FIG. 17, the closed card supply tray 73 (see FIG. 11A) is opened by the user and the

Next, in step S3, the user presses the start button on the operation panel at the top of the
Next, in step S4, as shown in FIG. 15, the control unit uses the
When the reading of the upper surface of the card C in step S4 is completed, in step S5, the control unit starts switchback conveyance of the card C in the
Next, in step S <b> 6, the control unit reads an image on the lower surface of the card C using the
When the reading of the lower surface of the card C in step S6 is completed, in step S7, the control unit conveys the card C to the
When the conveyance of the card C in step S7 is completed, the card C is held in the
Next, in step S <b> 8, the control unit determines whether or not the card C is removed from the
On the other hand, if the card C has not been removed from the
In step S9, the control unit confirms that the card C has been left in the
In the processing shown in the flowchart of FIG. 17, the image reading of the upper and lower surfaces of the card C is performed separately for the forward path from the
In the process of the flowchart of FIG. 17, the image on the upper surface of the card C is read by the
On the other hand, although the processing load on the control unit increases, as shown in the flowchart of FIG. 18, it is possible to simultaneously read the images on the upper and lower surfaces of the card C in either the forward path or the backward path.
The processes in steps S11 to S13, S15, and S16 to S18 in the flowchart of FIG. 18 are the same as the processes in steps S1 to S3, S5, and S7 to S9, respectively. In step S14, the control unit simultaneously reads the upper and lower surfaces of the card C using the
As described above, the image reading apparatus according to the present embodiment can automatically read a double-sided image with one action not only for a normal bendable document S but also for a card C that cannot be bent.
In the present embodiment, the copying
As described above, in the image reading apparatus of the present embodiment, the card C is conveyed from the
This eliminates the need for an additional image reading device for reading the card image and a large space for the card reading mechanism. For example, even in a small-sized A4 multifunction peripheral, it is possible to automatically read both sides of the card with one action. it can. In addition, it is possible to prevent the card from being misplaced after image reading.
(Embodiment 4)
FIG. 19 shows a fourth embodiment of the present invention. In the fourth embodiment, the entire view of the copying machine 1 (corresponding to FIG. 1) and the entire view of the ADF 5 (corresponding to FIGS. 4 and 5) are omitted, and are the same as those in the first to third embodiments. The same reference numerals are given to the same or functionally the same configuration, and the detailed description thereof is omitted.
In the fourth embodiment, the paper feeding / paper ejection is upside down as compared with the first embodiment. Therefore, the
Even in such a configuration, when an image of the document S is read, the document S is set on the
Then, as shown in FIG. 19A, the document S is first transported from the
When reading an image on the other side (for example, the back side) of the document S, the
Then, the original S after reading the image on the other side (for example, the back side) is discharged from the
On the other hand, the
That is, the
Thus, when reading the image of the card C, first, the
Then, when the card C passes through the
The card C after the image on the other side (for example, the back side) is read is discharged from the
Even in such a configuration, the document S can automatically read a double-sided image in one pass, and the card C can automatically read an image, although only on one side (single side).
As described above, the present invention contributes to the diversification of document reading by enabling the reading to a small resin card with a small size while contributing to downsizing of the apparatus main body and shortening of the reading time. And is useful for general document reading devices (ADFs).
