Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a phosphor and a light emitting device using the phosphor.
In recent years, with the industrialization of solid-state lighting using light emitting diodes (LEDs), their uses are diversified. For this reason, a phosphor for solid-state illumination having a light emission characteristic that has not existed in the past has been demanded, and as one of them, a phosphor that emits fluorescence containing a green light component has been developed.
As a conventional phosphor that emits fluorescence containing a green light component, Ba 2 Ca (BO 3 ) 2 is a base material, and a part of calcium (Ca) in the crystal lattice is cerium (Ce) and sodium (Na). Substituted phosphors have been reported (for example, see Non-Patent Document 1). The phosphor described in Non-Patent Document 1 is excited by ultraviolet light or visible light (purple light) in a wavelength region of 300 nm to 470 nm and emits blue to green light. The emission spectrum has an emission peak near 510 nm and has a wide distribution.
Further, it is known that a fluorescent component also appears in a red wavelength region near 625 nm by further substituting a part of Ca of the phosphor with manganese (Mn) (see, for example, Non-Patent Document 2). .
In order to achieve both high efficiency and high color rendering of solid-state illumination, a phosphor that can be excited by ultraviolet light or visible light and emits fluorescent light containing a bright green light component with high efficiency is required.
[Phosphor]
In general, a phosphor refers to a compound in which part of an element constituting a crystalline compound is partially substituted with an element that can become a fluorescent ion. Ions having such characteristics are usually called “emission centers”. In the phosphor according to the present embodiment, ions serving as the emission center are introduced into the base material (borate) as the crystalline compound. Thereby, the phosphor is easily excited by external stimulation, for example, irradiation with particle beams (α rays, β rays, electron beams) or electromagnetic waves (γ rays, X rays, vacuum ultraviolet rays, ultraviolet rays, visible rays), etc. It becomes possible to emit fluorescence.
Ba2(MhAiLnj)(BO3)2 (1)
式中、0.7≦h+i+j≦1.3、0≦i≦0.5、0<j≦0.5の範囲を満たす。

In the formula, 0.7 ≦ h + i + j ≦ 1.3, 0 ≦ i ≦ 0.5, and 0 <j ≦ 0.5 are satisfied. In the formula, M contains calcium (Ca), A contains at least one element selected from alkali metals, and Ln contains terbium (Tb). In the formula, h can take the range of 0 <h <1.3. In the formula, it is preferable that the range is 0.8 ≦ h + i + j ≦ 1.2, more preferably 0.9 ≦ h + i + j ≦ 1.1, and further preferably h + i + j = 1. More preferred. In practice, when h + i + j = 1 does not hold, the charge is compensated by other ions and the composition is shifted, resulting in a compound having a composition different from the charged composition.
In other words, the phosphor according to the present embodiment is a Tb 3+ activated phosphor in which Ba 2 Ca (BO 3 ) 2 is used as a base crystal and a part of Ca is substituted with at least Tb. When Tb 3+ is activated, the phosphor converts the absorbed light into light having a long wavelength, and the converted light includes a plurality of bright lines.
In the phosphor according to this embodiment, M only needs to contain at least Ca, and may further contain an element that can be a divalent ion other than Ca as long as the effects of the present invention are not impaired. Elements that can be divalent ions include alkaline earth metals, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cd, Co, and Cu. Examples of the alkaline earth metal include Sr and Ba other than Ca. These elements that can be divalent ions other than Ca may be used alone or in combination of two or more.
In the phosphor according to this embodiment, Ln substitutes a part of M. Ln only needs to contain at least Tb, and may further contain an element that can be a trivalent ion other than Tb, in particular, a rare earth element, as long as the effects of the present invention are not impaired. Examples of elements that can be trivalent ions include Sc, Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, In, Sb, and Bi. These elements that can be trivalent ions may be used alone or in combination of two or more.
In the phosphor according to this embodiment, Ln preferably contains Tb and Ce. In a phosphor activated by both Tb 3+ and Ce 3+ , it is known that at least part of the energy absorbed by Ce 3+ is transferred to Tb 3+ by a mechanism called energy transfer. Furthermore, the higher the concentration of Tb 3+, the ion distance between Tb 3+ and Ce 3+ are close, almost all of the energy Ce 3+ is absorbed moves to Tb 3+, bright line of a light-emitting-based Tb 3+ Appears as the subject. Furthermore, Ce 3+ not only acts as an emission center, but also acts as a sensitizer for Tb 3+ when excited with short-wavelength visible light, increasing the emission intensity of Tb 3+ having a bright green component. it can. The ratios of Tb and Ce can be adjusted as appropriate depending on the required fluorescent component.
In the phosphor according to this embodiment, A contains an element that can be a monovalent ion such as Na. A functions as a charge compensator when a divalent ion such as Ca 2+ is substituted with a trivalent ion such as Tb 3+ or Ce 3+ . By containing A, the ionic neutrality of the crystal can be maintained. As a result, the luminescent center ion can be added at a high concentration and the crystallinity is improved, so that a high-performance phosphor can be obtained.
In the phosphor according to this embodiment, A is not necessarily contained. A is not particularly limited to Na, and may contain an element that can be a monovalent ion other than Na. An element that can be a monovalent ion can contain an alkali metal. Examples of the alkali metal include Li, K, Rb, and Cs except for Na. An alkali metal may be used individually by 1 type, and may use 2 or more types together.
例えば、本実施形態に係る蛍光体は、Ba2(Ca0.92Ce0.02Tb0.02Na0.04)(BO3)2で表される組成を有する。このとき、一般式(1)において、MはCaであり、AはNaであり、LnはTb及びCeであり、h+i+j=1、h=0.92、i=0.04、j=0.04である。 For example, the phosphor according to the present embodiment has a composition represented by Ba 2 (Ca 0.92 Ce 0.02 Tb 0.02 Na 0.04 ) (BO 3 ) 2 . In this case, in the general formula (1), M is Ca, A is Na, Ln is Tb and Ce, h + i + j = 1, h = 0.92, i = 0.04, j = 0. 04.
According to the phosphor according to the present embodiment, at least Tb is contained and Tb 3+ is used as the emission center, so that the phosphor is excited by ultraviolet light or visible light in a wavelength region of 200 nm to 470 nm and is based on Tb 3+. It becomes possible to emit fluorescence containing the green fluorescent component. Specifically, the phosphor exhibits a characteristic emission spectrum having an emission line-like emission peak in a green wavelength region of 535 nm to 555 nm. Therefore, since the wavelength of ultraviolet light or visible light can be converted into bright green light, it is possible to obtain illumination light that achieves both high efficiency and high color rendering. Note that the excitation wavelength of the phosphor according to the present embodiment is preferably 200 nm or more and 450 nm or less.
Furthermore, the phosphor according to the present embodiment is preferably excited by short-wavelength visible light having a maximum intensity within a range of 380 nm or more and less than 470 nm. In this case, since the existing solid-state light emitting element that emits ultraviolet light or short-wavelength visible light can be used, the light emitting device can be manufactured relatively easily.
[Light emitting device]
Next, a light emitting device according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described. The light emitting device according to the present embodiment includes the phosphor described above. As described above, the phosphor according to the present embodiment emits fluorescence including a bright line-like green fluorescent component. For this reason, in the light emitting device according to the present embodiment, it is possible to output fluorescence with effectively controlled color tone by combining the phosphor according to the present embodiment and the excitation source that excites the phosphor. .
Note that the light emitting device according to the present embodiment widely includes electronic devices having a function of emitting light, and is not particularly limited as long as it is an electronic device that emits some light. That is, the light emitting device according to the present embodiment is a light emitting device that uses at least the phosphor according to the present embodiment, and further uses at least the fluorescence emitted by the phosphor as output light.
If it demonstrates in detail, the light-emitting device which concerns on this embodiment combines the fluorescent substance which concerns on this embodiment, and the excitation source which excites the said fluorescent substance. And the fluorescent substance which concerns on this embodiment absorbs the energy which an excitation source emits, and converts the absorbed energy into fluorescence by which color tone control was carried out. The excitation source may be appropriately selected from a discharge device, an electron gun, a solid light emitting element, etc. according to the excitation characteristics of the phosphor.
Conventionally, there are many light-emitting devices that use phosphors, such as fluorescent lamps, electron tubes, plasma display panels (PDP), white LEDs, and detection devices that use phosphors. In a broad sense, an illumination light source and an illumination device using a phosphor, a display device, and the like are light-emitting devices, and a projector including a laser diode, a liquid crystal display including an LED backlight, and the like are also considered as light-emitting devices. Here, since the light emitting device according to the present embodiment can be classified according to the type of fluorescence emitted by the phosphor, this classification will be described.
Fluorescence phenomena used in electronic devices are academically divided into several categories, and are distinguished by terms such as photoluminescence, cathodoluminescence, and electroluminescence. “Photoluminescence” refers to fluorescence emitted by a phosphor when the phosphor is irradiated with an electromagnetic wave. Note that the term “electromagnetic wave” collectively refers to X-rays, ultraviolet rays, visible light, infrared rays, and the like. “Cathodeluminescence” refers to fluorescence emitted by a phosphor when the phosphor is irradiated with an electron beam. Electroluminescence refers to fluorescence emitted when electrons are injected into a phosphor or an electric field is applied. In principle, there is also a term of thermoluminescence as fluorescence close to photoluminescence, which means fluorescence emitted by the phosphor when heat is applied to the phosphor. In addition, there is a term of radioluminescence (radioluminescence) in principle as fluorescence close to cathodoluminescence, which means fluorescence emitted by the phosphor when the phosphor is irradiated with radiation.
As described above, the light emitting device according to the present embodiment uses at least the fluorescence emitted by the above-described phosphor as output light. Since the fluorescence here can be classified at least as described above, the fluorescence can be replaced with at least one fluorescence phenomenon selected from the luminescence.
Typical examples of the light emitting device that uses the photoluminescence of the phosphor as output light include an X-ray image intensifier, a fluorescent lamp, a white LED, a semiconductor laser projector using a phosphor and a laser diode, and a PDP. . Typical examples of a light emitting device that uses cathodoluminescence as output light include an electron tube, a fluorescent display tube, and a field emission display (FED). Furthermore, as a typical example of a light-emitting device that uses electroluminescence as output light, an inorganic electroluminescence display (inorganic EL), a light-emitting diode (LED), a semiconductor laser (LD), and an organic electroluminescence element (OLED) can be given.

As shown in FIG. 3, the
As shown in FIG. 2, the

[Sample preparation]
First, each raw material was weighed at the ratio shown in Table 1 below. Next, using a ball mill, these raw materials were mixed with an appropriate amount of solvent and stirred for 1 hour. And the raw material after mixing was moved to the container, and was dried at 150 degreeC for 2 hours using the dryer. The mixed raw material after drying was pulverized using a mortar and pestle to obtain a baking raw material. Thereafter, the firing raw material was transferred to an alumina crucible as a firing container and fired in a weak reducing atmosphere at 1000 ° C. for 2 hours using a tubular electric furnace. The weak reducing atmosphere was a mixed gas atmosphere of 96% nitrogen and 4% hydrogen, and the mixed gas flow rate was 100 ml / min.
In this way, the phosphor samples of the comparative example and Examples 1 and 2 were synthesized. And the following evaluation was performed using the compound of the obtained comparative example and Example 1 and 2. FIG.
図5では、比較例並びに実施例1及び2のX線回折(XRD)パターンと、PDF(Power Diffraction Files)に登録されているBa2Ca(BO3)2のXRDパターンを示す。
[Crystal structure analysis]
The crystal structure analysis of the compounds according to the comparative example and Examples 1 and 2 was performed. FIG. 5 shows an X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern of the comparative example and Examples 1 and 2, and an XRD pattern of Ba 2 Ca (BO 3 ) 2 registered in PDF (Power Diffraction Files). The XRD pattern was evaluated using an X-ray diffractometer (product name: MultiFlex, manufactured by Rigaku Corporation).
そして、比較例並びに実施例1及び2の化合物がそれぞれ、Ba2(Ca0.92Ce0.02Tb0.02Na0.04)(BO3)2、Ba2(Ca0.5Ce0.02Tb0.23Na0.25)(BO3)2で表される化合物であることを示すものである。 From the XRD pattern shown in FIG. 5, the XRD pattern of the compound according to the comparative example and Examples 1 and 2 has the same characteristics in terms of shape as the pattern of Ba 2 Ca (BO 3 ) 2 . That is, in the XRD patterns of the comparative example and the compounds of Examples 1 and 2, the diffraction peak intensity ratio is different from Ba 2 Ca (BO 3 ) 2 , but the number of diffraction peaks is not excessive or insufficient. Such coincidence of XRD patterns indicates that the compound of the comparative example and Examples 1 and 2 has the same crystal structure as Ba 2 Ca (BO 3 ) 2 as the main phase. Then, Comparative Examples and the compounds of Examples 1 and 2, respectively, Ba 2 (Ca 0.92 Ce 0.02 Tb 0.02 Na 0.04) (BO 3) 2, Ba 2 (Ca 0.5 Ce 0 0.02 Tb 0.23 Na 0.25 ) (BO 3 ) 2 .
[Light emission characteristic evaluation]
The excitation characteristics and emission characteristics of the compounds of Comparative Examples and Examples 1 and 2 were measured using a spectrofluorometer (FP-6500 (product name: manufactured by JASCO Corporation)) and an instantaneous multiphotometry system (QE-1100: Otsuka Electronics Co. In addition, for the purpose of improving measurement accuracy, an instantaneous multiphotometry system was used to measure the emission spectrum, and a spectrofluorometer was used to measure the excitation spectrum. The excitation wavelength at the time of emission spectrum measurement was 400 nm, and the monitor wavelength at the time of excitation spectrum measurement was the emission peak wavelength, that is, 505 nm in Comparative Example and Example 1, and 543 nm in Example 2.
In FIG. 6, the excitation spectrum and emission spectrum of the compound of Comparative Example and Examples 1 and 2 are shown. As shown in the excitation spectrum of the comparative example, the comparative example is excited by ultraviolet rays and visible light in a wavelength region of 300 nm to 470 nm. The excitation spectrum of the comparative example has an excitation peak based on Ce 3+ in the vicinity of 400 nm. Further, the emission spectrum of the comparative example has a broad fluorescent component based on Ce 3+ in the vicinity of 510 nm.
On the other hand, the excitation of Examples 1 and 2 is excited by ultraviolet rays and visible light in a wavelength region of 200 nm to 470 nm. In the emission spectrum of Example 1, it can be seen that the broad fluorescent component near 510 nm based on Ce 3+ decreases and the bright line-shaped green fluorescent component based on Tb 3+ near 545 nm increases compared to the comparative example. Furthermore, in the emission spectrum of Example 2, the broad fluorescent component near 510 nm based on Ce 3+ is reduced compared to Example 1, the bright green fluorescent component based on Tb 3+ near 545 nm is increased, and the green fluorescent component is the main component. It turns out that it emits light. That is, it was confirmed that as the amount of Tb added increases, the broad fluorescent component near 510 nm based on Ce 3+ decreases and the bright line-like green fluorescent component based on Tb 3+ near 545 nm increases.
As mentioned above, although this invention was demonstrated by embodiment and an Example, this invention is not limited to these, A various deformation | transformation is possible within the range of the summary of this invention.
