Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a seal-type thermal transfer image receiving sheet.
Excellent thermal transparency, high reproducibility and gradation of intermediate colors, and easy formation of high-quality images equivalent to conventional full-color photographic images. It is widely done. Examples of the printed material on which a thermal transfer image is formed on a transfer object include digital photographs, ID cards, driver's licenses, membership cards, and other ID cards used in many fields.
For the formation of a thermal transfer image by a sublimation transfer method, a thermal transfer sheet in which a dye layer is provided on one side of a substrate and a transfer target, for example, a thermal transfer in which a receiving layer is provided on one side of another substrate An image receiving sheet is used. Then, by superposing the receiving layer of the thermal transfer image-receiving sheet and the dye layer of the thermal transfer sheet, by applying heat from the back side of the thermal transfer sheet by the thermal head, the dye of the dye layer is transferred onto the receiving layer, A printed matter having a thermal transfer image formed on the receiving layer is obtained. According to such a sublimation transfer method, since the amount of dye transfer can be controlled by the amount of energy applied to the thermal transfer sheet, density gradation is possible, so that the image is very clear and has transparency and halftone. Therefore, it is possible to form a high-quality printed product comparable to a full-color photographic image.
Recently, as proposed in Patent Document 1, a seal part in which a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer, a base material layer, and a receiving layer are laminated is provided on the surface of a release sheet so as to be peelable from the release sheet. Thermal transfer image receiving sheets are known. According to this thermal transfer image receiving sheet, after a desired image is formed on the receiving layer, the seal portion is peeled off from the release sheet, and the receiving layer on which the image is formed can be applied to an arbitrary object using the adhesive layer. Attention has been increasing in that it can be attached and can be used in a wider range of usage compared to conventional thermal transfer image-receiving sheets. This thermal transfer image receiving sheet may be referred to as a seal-type thermal transfer image receiving sheet depending on its usage.
The seal-type thermal transfer image-receiving sheet is divided into two components, a release sheet portion including a back side base material, and a seal portion including an adhesive layer, a front side base material, and a receiving layer. Due to the thickness of each layer included and the difference in the material of each layer, there is a problem that the seal-type thermal transfer sheet is likely to be curled. When curling occurs on the seal-type thermal transfer image-receiving sheet, (i) a decrease in transportability in the printer when forming an image on the receiving layer, or (ii) a decrease in design of the seal-type thermal transfer image-receiving sheet. cause. Further, when curling occurs on the seal-type thermal transfer image receiving sheet, the curling stress remains on the seal portion peeled off from the release sheet, and (iii) when the seal portion is attached to an arbitrary object May be an obstacle.
A≧30μm、A/B=0.6〜1.7、A+B=50〜400μmとしたシール用途の熱転写受像シートが提案されている。 In Patent Document 2, for the purpose of improving curl properties, a receiving layer, a sheet substrate, a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer, a release treatment layer, and a foamed sheet are sequentially formed from the top, and the thickness of the sheet substrate ( A thermal transfer image-receiving sheet for sealing purposes in which the relationship between A) and the thickness of the foamed sheet (B) is A ≧ 30 μm, A / B = 0.6 to 1.7, and A + B = 50 to 400 μm has been proposed.
However, in the thermal transfer image-receiving sheet proposed in Patent Document 2 described above, depending on the material of the sheet base material and the foamed sheet and the material of the receiving layer, which is an essential component in the thermal transfer image-receiving sheet, Even when the relationship between the thickness of the foamed sheet and the foamed sheet is within the range proposed in Patent Document 2, the occurrence of curling may not be prevented. At present, no proposal has been made for a seal-type thermal transfer image receiving sheet capable of preventing curling without being limited to the material of each layer constituting the seal-type thermal transfer image receiving sheet.
The present invention has been made in such a situation, and a seal-type thermal transfer image-receiving sheet capable of preventing the occurrence of curling regardless of the material of the release sheet portion, the seal base portion, and the presence of an arbitrary layer. The main issue is to provide
The present invention for solving the above problems includes a release sheet part including a back side base material layer, an adhesive layer from the surface of the release sheet part, a front side base material layer including a layer having heat insulation, and a receiving layer. A seal-type thermal transfer image-receiving sheet having a seal substrate portion laminated in this order, wherein the seal substrate portion is detachable from the release sheet portion, the back-side substrate layer and the front side The total thickness of the base material layer is 100 μm or more, and the rigidity (A) in the TD direction of the entire sealing base material part excluding the adhesive is divided by the rigidity (B) in the TD direction of the release sheet part. The value (A) / (B) is 0.4 or more and 2.1 or less.
Further, the release sheet portion may have a thickness of 30 μm or more. Moreover, the said back side base material layer may exhibit the laminated structure by which 2 or more types of layers are laminated | stacked.
According to the seal-type thermal transfer image-receiving sheet of the present invention, curling can be prevented regardless of the thickness of the layers other than the front-side base material layer and the back-side base material layer and the material of each layer.
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the seal-type thermal transfer image-
The sealing
と、断熱性を有する層22B(以下、断熱層22Bと言う場合がある。)
In the illustrated form, the front-side
The pressure-sensitive
The seal-type thermal transfer image-
Characteristic 1; A value obtained by dividing the rigidity (A) in the TD direction of the entire
Feature 2: The total thickness of the back side substrate layer 1 and the front
According to the seal-type thermal transfer image-
In addition, even if the rigidity relationship between the sealing
The rigidity relationship may be any as long as it satisfies the range of the above feature 1. However, for the purpose of further improving the prevention of curling, the TD direction of the entire
The stiffness A and stiffness B in the present invention mean the stiffness in a direction (TD direction) orthogonal to the flow direction (MD direction). For example, when the seal-type thermal transfer image receiving sheet of the present invention is in the form of a long sheet, the longitudinal direction of the seal-type thermal transfer image receiving sheet is the MD direction, and the direction (width direction) perpendicular to the longitudinal direction is It becomes the TD direction. On the other hand, when the seal-type thermal transfer image-receiving sheet of the present invention has a sheet-like form formed by cutting a long-sheet-like seal-type thermal transfer image-receiving sheet in the width direction, the cut direction is the TD direction. It becomes.
There is no limitation on the rigidity in the MD direction (flow direction) of the seal-type thermal transfer image-receiving sheet, the rigidity in the TD direction (width direction) of the seal-type thermal transfer image-receiving sheet satisfies the above feature 1, and the thickness is the above-mentioned feature. If it satisfies 2, it is possible to prevent the occurrence of curling. Further, in the present invention, the rigidity of the
The rigidity referred to in this specification is J. TAPPI (2000 edition) No. It is a characteristic value of mechanical properties defined by the Gurley method of 40, and shows the repulsive stress when a certain strain is generated in the test piece. The stiffness can be measured using a Gurley flexibility tester manufactured by Toyo Seiki Co., Ltd.
Further, the seal-type thermal transfer image receiving sheet preferably has a total thickness of 125 μm or more. In addition to satisfying the above features 1 and 2, and when the thickness of the entire seal-type thermal transfer image receiving sheet is 125 μm or more, the occurrence of curling is smaller than when the thickness of the entire seal-type thermal transfer image-receiving sheet is less than 125 μm. It can prevent more effectively. Note that the thickness of the entire seal-type thermal transfer image-receiving sheet is an essential component, including not only the front-side base material layer, the back-side base material layer, the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer, and the receptor layer, but also as necessary. It means the total thickness including any layer provided, for example, the back layer.

Whether the target seal-type thermal transfer image-receiving sheet (hereinafter referred to as the target sheet) satisfies the invention-specific matters of the seal-type thermal transfer image-receiving sheet of the present invention can be determined by the following procedure.
Procedure 1: The target sheet has a release sheet part and a seal base part, the seal base part can be peeled from the release sheet part, and the peeled seal base part is adhesive. It is discriminated whether or not it contains an agent layer, a front side base material layer, and a receiving layer. Specifically, it is determined whether or not there is a sticky layer on one outermost surface of the seal base part, and a receiving layer is present on the other outermost surface, Then, it is determined whether or not a layer having a heat insulating property exists between the receiving layer and whether or not the seal base part can be peeled from the release sheet part.
Procedure 2: The thickness of the layer corresponding to the back side base material layer and the front side base material layer of the target sheet is measured, and it is determined whether or not the feature 2 is satisfied.
Procedure 3: The target sheet is separated into a release sheet part and a seal base part, and the adhesive layer remaining on the seal base part is removed using an appropriate solvent capable of removing the adhesive layer. . Next, the rigidity in the TD direction of the release sheet part and the rigidity in the TD direction of the seal base part after removing the adhesive layer are measured based on the method described above, and the seal base part and the mold release part are measured. The rigidity relationship in the TD direction of the sheet portion is calculated, and it is determined whether or not the feature 1 is satisfied.
If all the features are satisfied by the above steps 1 to 3, it is determined that the target sheet satisfies the invention-specific matters of the present invention.

There is no limitation about the material of the back side base material layer 1 which is an indispensable layer which comprises the
Moreover, the layer which has a micro void inside as the back side base material layer 1 can also be used. As an example of the layer having a microvoid inside, a polyolefin resin layer having a microvoid inside can be cited. Polyolefin resins such as polyethylene, polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene naphthalate and other highly heat-resistant polyester, polypropylene, polybutene, polyisobutene, polyisobutylene, polybutadiene, polyisoprene, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, etc. Can be mentioned.
As a polyolefin resin layer having microvoids, microvoids (fine vacancies) can be generated inside by the following two methods. One is a method in which inorganic fine particles are kneaded in a polymer, and when the compound is stretched, microvoids are generated using the inorganic fine particles as nuclei. The other is to create a compound blended with an incompatible polymer (one or more types) for the main resin. When this compound is viewed microscopically, the polymers form a fine sea-island structure. When this compound is stretched, microvoids are generated due to separation of the sea-island interface or large deformation of the polymer forming the island.
In the seal-type thermal transfer

Examples of the back layer 5 include resins such as acrylic resins, cellulose resins, polycarbonate resins, polyvinyl acetal resins, polyvinyl alcohol resins, polyvinyl butyral resins, polyamide resins, polystyrene resins, polyester resins, and halogenated polymers.
A general printer used in combination with the seal-type thermal transfer

As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, a front-side

Examples of the water-soluble resin and water-soluble polymer include polyvinyl pyrrolidone resin, polyvinyl alcohol resin, and gelatin. Examples of the water-based resin include emulsions such as a vinyl chloride resin, an acrylic resin, and a urethane resin, or a resin in which a part of a solvent such as a dispersion is composed of water. The aqueous resin can be formed, for example, by dispersing and preparing a solution containing a solvent-based resin by a method such as a homogenizer.

Next, a release layer coating liquid having the following composition is applied to one surface of the back side base material layer (1-1) so as to have a thickness of 0.3 μm when dried to form a release layer. On the other side of the back side substrate layer (1-1), a back side primer layer coating solution having the following composition was applied to a thickness of 0.5 μm when dried to form a back side primer layer. Next, on the back primer layer, a back layer coating solution having the following composition is applied to a thickness of 0.5 μm when dried to form a back layer, and the back layer, back primer layer, back substrate layer (1-1) A laminate B in which release layers were laminated in this order was obtained. The rigidity in the TD direction of the laminate B was defined as the rigidity in the TD direction of the release sheet portion.
Next, a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer coating solution having the following composition is applied on the release layer of the laminate B so as to have a thickness of 10.0 μm when dried, and the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is formed. By laminating the provided laminate B and the laminate A, the back layer / back primer layer / back substrate layer / release layer / adhesive layer / front substrate layer / primer layer / receiving layer A seal-type thermal transfer image receiving sheet of Example 1 obtained by laminating in this order was obtained. In addition, lamination | stacking of each front side base material layer and bonding of the laminated body A and the laminated body B were performed so that TD direction of each front side base material layer and a back side base material layer might become the same direction.
