Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a gas sensor including a solid electrolyte body, a detection unit including a pair of electrodes provided on the solid electrolyte body, and a heater for heating the detection unit.
Gas sensors that detect the gas concentration of specific gas components in a gas atmosphere, such as intake gas that flows through an intake pipe and exhaust gas that flows through an exhaust pipe, are known as gas sensors that improve fuel consumption and combustion control of an internal combustion engine such as an automobile. Yes. This gas sensor includes a sensor element having one or a plurality of cells formed by forming a pair of electrodes on the surface of an oxygen ion conductive solid electrolyte body such as zirconia and a heater for heating the detector. I have. The gas concentration can be measured by heating the solid electrolyte body to the activation temperature (about 800 ° C.) with a heater.
On the other hand, a conventional gas sensor is connected to an electronic control unit (hereinafter referred to as ECU), which is an external device, and the ECU processes an output signal representing a gas concentration from a sensor element and performs energization control of a heater. However, in such a case, it is necessary to design the circuit for the above processing in the ECU, which restricts the degree of freedom of design and makes it difficult to secure a space for installing these circuits in the ECU. Sometimes. In addition, since the output signal from the sensor element is an analog signal, the detection accuracy of the gas concentration may be reduced due to the influence of electrical noise during signal transmission to the ECU.
Therefore, a processing circuit for an output signal from the sensor element and a heater control circuit for controlling the energization amount to the heater are provided on the circuit board, and a gas sensor in which the circuit board and the sensor element are integrally housed in a metal case is provided. It has been developed (see Patent Document 1).
However, when the circuit board on which various electronic components are mounted and the sensor element are integrally accommodated in the same case (housing), heat is transmitted from the sensor element heated to the activation temperature by the heater to the circuit board, The operating rated temperature (for example, 150 ° C.) of various electronic components on the circuit board may be exceeded, and the circuit board may malfunction.
In particular, when an automobile stops under a predetermined automatic stop condition such as a so-called idling stop, such as waiting for a signal, intake of air into the engine (internal combustion engine) and exhaust of exhaust gas are also stopped. The gas flow around the gas sensor also stops and heat is trapped. In this state, when the energization of the heater is maintained and the temperature of the sensor element is maintained at the activation temperature, the heat reception from the sensor element to the circuit board is continued during the idling stop, and the circuit is further heated. .
Further, when the circuit board is overheated, when the case is made of resin, or when a resin connector or the like is connected to the case, the heat resistance temperature of these resin members may be exceeded. Furthermore, when a non-volatile semiconductor memory for recording various data (parameters to be described later) is arranged on the circuit board, the data recorded as charges in the semiconductor memory may be erased by heat.
That is, an object of the present invention is to provide a gas sensor in which a sensor element having a heater and a circuit board are accommodated in the same casing, and the circuit board is prevented from being overheated due to heat received from the sensor element.
In order to solve the above-described problems, a gas sensor of the present invention includes a solid electrolyte body and a pair of electrodes formed on the solid electrolyte body, a detection unit that detects the concentration of a specific gas, and a heater that heats the detection unit And a heater for maintaining the temperature of the sensor element at the first temperature during a period of detection of the concentration of the specific gas by the sensor element. A gas sensor comprising: a circuit board on which heater energization control means for controlling energization is mounted; and a housing portion that houses the sensor element and the circuit board, wherein the circuit board includes the circuit board. A temperature sensor that measures temperature and a threshold value determination unit that determines whether or not the temperature of the circuit board measured by the temperature sensor exceeds a threshold value are mounted, and the heater energization The control unit is configured to stop the energization of the heater when the threshold value determination unit determines that the temperature of the circuit board exceeds the threshold value, or so that the temperature of the circuit board becomes less than the threshold value. A suppression process including any one of processes for forcibly controlling energization of the heater is executed.
According to this gas sensor, when the temperature of the circuit board exceeds the threshold value, the heater energization control means forcibly energizes the heater so that the heater current supply means stops energizing the heater or the temperature of the circuit board falls below the threshold value. Therefore, the sensor element is prevented from being heated any more and heat is transmitted from the sensor element to the circuit board, thereby preventing the circuit board from malfunctioning. That is, overheating of the circuit board can be effectively prevented in the gas sensor in which the sensor element having the heater and the circuit board are accommodated in the same casing. In order to effectively prevent overheating of the circuit board, it is preferable to stop energization of the heater when it is determined that the temperature of the circuit board exceeds the threshold value.
In the gas sensor, when it is determined by the threshold determination means that the temperature of the circuit board has exceeded the first threshold and then is determined to be lower than the second threshold, the heater energization control means cancels the suppression process. The energization control to the heater may be resumed.
According to this gas sensor, when the temperature of the circuit board falls below the second threshold value and the circuit board does not malfunction, the heater energization control means cancels the suppression process and resumes energization control to the heater. It can be used repeatedly while returning the gas sensor in a state where overheating of the circuit board is suppressed. Note that the value of the second threshold value may be the same value as the first threshold value, or may be a different value.
The gas sensor is attached to a pipe provided in the internal combustion engine, and the heater energization control means is lower than the first temperature when the operated internal combustion engine stops under a predetermined automatic stop condition, and The energization of the heater may be controlled so that the temperature of the sensor element is maintained at a second temperature higher than a temperature corresponding to the first threshold value.
According to this gas sensor, when the internal combustion engine is stopped under a predetermined automatic stop condition such as waiting for a signal, the heater energization control is performed so that the heater energization control means maintains the temperature of the sensor element at the second temperature lower than the first temperature. Therefore, even if heat is accumulated around the gas sensor when the internal combustion engine is stopped, the heating of the sensor element by the heater is less than the first temperature, so that the heat reception from the sensor element to the circuit board can be reduced. In addition, since the heating of the sensor element can be waited in a preheated state without completely stopping, the gas sensor is immediately heated to the first temperature and specified when the stopped state of the internal combustion engine is released and the normal operation is started. Gas concentration can be detected quickly.
In other words, in this gas sensor, when the internal combustion engine stops while satisfying a predetermined automatic stop condition, the temperature of the circuit board exceeds the threshold value by controlling the energization of the heater so as to maintain the temperature of the sensor element at the second temperature. While taking measures to make it difficult, if the automatic stop condition continues for a long time, etc., and the temperature of the circuit board exceeds the threshold value, the above-mentioned two steps of executing the processing such as stopping energization of the heater are performed. -ing
The circuit board further includes a nonvolatile semiconductor memory that records, as electric charges, parameters for processing the output signal by the processing means and / or parameters for controlling energization of the heater by the heater energization control means. May be.
Since a nonvolatile semiconductor memory that records parameters (data) as charges is easily erased by heat, the present invention is further effective when such a nonvolatile semiconductor memory is used.
According to the present invention, in a gas sensor in which a sensor element having a heater and a circuit board are accommodated in the same casing, overheating of the circuit board due to heat received from the sensor element can be prevented.

回路基板20の表面には、さらに回路基板20の温度を測定する温度センサ(半導体温度センサ)25、及び後述するパラメータを電荷として記録するEEPROM(Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory)27が実装されている。

Next, threshold determination by the
As shown in FIG. 5, the threshold determination means 20C includes a circuit temperature detection circuit 20C1, an ON → OFF threshold, an OFF → ON threshold, and a threshold comparison circuit (comparator) 20C2. The circuit temperature detection circuit 20C1 detects a signal (voltage signal) representing the temperature of the
Also, the OFF → ON threshold and the ON → OFF threshold may be the same value, but when both thresholds are the same value, ON / OFF of the power supply to the
Then, as shown in FIG. 6, the threshold comparison circuit 20C2 first sets “False” to “H_Enable” as information on whether or not the
In this way, “H_Enable” is set to “True” as long as the temperature of the
The value “H_Enable” is output to the heater control circuit 20B3 at every predetermined timing.
Next, as shown in FIG. 7, heater energization control processing is performed by the heater energization control means 20B. First, the heater control circuit 20B3 determines whether or not the value of “H_Enable” received from the threshold comparison circuit 20C2 is true (step S20). If “False” in step S20, the process proceeds to step S38 to determine whether the duty calculation timing has elapsed. As described above, when the heater control circuit 20B3 determines that the value of “H_Enable” is “false” in step S20, the heater control circuit 20B3 calculates the effective voltage target value by skipping the processing of S22 to S36. Without performing the driving of the heater driver 20B4 itself, a process (suppression process) for stopping energization of the
Subsequently, the temperature target value switching circuit 20B1 determines whether or not an idle stop signal has been received from the ECU 99 (step S24). Here, the idle stop signal is a signal indicating that the automobile has stopped under a predetermined automatic stop condition such as waiting for a signal (idling stop). Examples of the automatic stop condition include a condition that (1) the vehicle speed is 0 km / h, (2) the accelerator pedal is depressed by 0, and (3) the brake pedal is depressed. However, the present invention is not limited to this example. In idling stop, the intake of air into the engine (internal combustion engine) and the exhaust of exhaust gas are also stopped.
If “No” in step S24, the temperature target value switching circuit 20B1 acquires the value of the first temperature from the EEPROM 27 (step S26). On the other hand, if “Yes” in the step S24, the temperature target value switching circuit 20B1 acquires the value of the second temperature from the EEPROM 27 (step S28).
Here, the “first temperature” is the control temperature (target temperature) of the gas sensor when the internal combustion engine is not stopped under a predetermined automatic stop condition such as idling stop, that is, the internal combustion engine is operating normally. For example, it is set to about 800 ° C., and the concentration of the specific gas (oxygen) can be accurately detected by activating the solid electrolyte body. On the other hand, the “second temperature” is a control temperature (target temperature) of the gas sensor when the internal combustion engine is stopped under a predetermined automatic stop condition such as idling stop, and is lower than the first temperature (for example, 600 ° C.). Is set. The second temperature preheats the
The first temperature and the second temperature correspond to “a parameter for controlling energization of the heater” in the claims.
Next, the effective voltage target value calculation circuit 20B2 acquires the sensor temperature acquired by the sensor temperature detection circuit 20A2 in step S22, and the target temperature (first value) of the
Next, the heater control circuit 20B3 detects the power supply voltage of the battery connected to the heater 200 (step S32), and applies it to the
