It has strong antiseptic and bactericidal power, and is used in large quantities as a preservative, bactericidal agent, anthelmintic, and a raw material for synthetic menthol.

(Aliphatic monohydric alcohol)
This thymol is solid at room temperature, but can be easily contained in the pressure-sensitive adhesive by using a solvent. Although various solvents can be used, an aliphatic monohydric alcohol having 2 to 6 carbon atoms is preferable because it can dissolve thymol, can improve the amount of thymol released during use, and is safe for the human body. The content ratio of thymol and aliphatic monohydric alcohol is preferably 1: 9 to 9: 1 by mass ratio, and more preferably 2: 8 to 8: 2. Examples of the aliphatic monohydric alcohol having 2 to 6 carbon atoms include ethanol, isopropanol, and butanol. These may be used individually by 1 type and may be used in combination of 2 or more type. Among these, ethanol is particularly preferable because it has volatility and bactericidal action. By making ethanol coexist with thymol, a higher antibacterial effect can be obtained. The ratio of thymol and ethanol is preferably such that it can exhibit antibacterial properties and does not exude during storage. The mass ratio is preferably 1: 9 to 9: 1, and particularly preferably 2: 8 to 8: 2.

(Barrier layer)
The barrier layer in the antibacterial sheet is not particularly limited as long as it has moderate flexibility and can suppress permeation of thymol and aliphatic monohydric alcohol. For example, polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene naphthalate, etc. And a film made of polyester, poly (vinylidene halide), polyacrylonitrile, ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer, polycarbonate, polytetrafluoroethylene, etc., and a film made of polyethylene terephthalate is particularly preferable. Furthermore, a closed-cell type foam film made of these polymer materials can also be used. Moreover, it is preferable that the thickness of the said film is 10-60 micrometers, and it is especially preferable that it is 25-45 micrometers.
