Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an abnormality determination device for an internal combustion engine, and more particularly to a turbocharger, a wastegate valve that opens and closes an exhaust bypass passage that bypasses a turbine, and a portion downstream of a portion where the exhaust bypass passage and the exhaust passage merge. The present invention relates to an abnormality determination device for an internal combustion engine that is suitable for application to an internal combustion engine that includes an air-fuel ratio sensor disposed in an exhaust passage on the side.
Conventionally, for example,
As a legal requirement, there is a demand for detecting an abnormality (failure) of the fuel injection valve for each cylinder. Generally, abnormality detection of the fuel injection valve is performed based on the determination result of the imbalance abnormality between cylinders at the air-fuel ratio as described above.
In the internal combustion engine having the above-described configuration, conventionally, the opening degree of the waste gate valve is freely controlled in response to a request for improving the acceleration response and fuel efficiency of the internal combustion engine. The length of the exhaust path passing through the waste gate is different from the length of the exhaust path passing through the turbine. Therefore, when the air-fuel ratio sensor is provided in the exhaust passage downstream of the turbine as in the internal combustion engine, the exhaust gas discharged from a certain cylinder (for example, # 1 cylinder) reaches the air-fuel ratio sensor. The timing to perform differs depending on whether it passes through the turbine or the waste gate. For this reason, in a situation where exhaust gas flows through both the turbine side and the waste gate side, exhaust gas discharged from different cylinders is mixed at the position where the air-fuel ratio sensor is provided. Therefore, if such exhaust gas is used, it becomes difficult to grasp the difference between the cylinders of the air-fuel ratio, so that the detectability of the imbalance abnormality between the cylinders of the air-fuel ratio decreases, and the abnormality of the fuel injection valve Detectability is reduced.
The above-described decrease in detectability of an imbalance among cylinders becomes remarkable when the opening degree of the waste gate valve is an intermediate opening degree. This is because the ratio of the exhaust gas amount from the waste gate and the exhaust gas amount from the turbine is within a certain range, so that the influence of mixing with the exhaust gas from other cylinders is large at the position where the air-fuel ratio sensor is provided. It is. On the other hand, if the waste gate valve is controlled to be fully closed or close to the fully open position, the exhaust gas from the turbine is mainly used in the former case, and the exhaust gas from the waste gate is mainly used in the latter case. , Less susceptible to mixing. For this reason, by using the vicinity of the fully-closed or fully-opened opening, it is possible to ensure better detectability of the imbalance abnormality than when the wastegate valve opening is at the intermediate opening.
However, if there is an abnormality that the wastegate valve is stuck at an intermediate opening, the wastegate valve should be placed near the fully closed or fully opened position in order to detect an imbalance abnormality while ensuring high detectability. When controlled, the waste gate valve is actually not fully closed or fully open. In an internal combustion engine that does not include a sensor for detecting the opening degree of the waste gate valve, when the above situation occurs, even if an air-fuel ratio imbalance abnormality actually occurs Since it is difficult to grasp the difference between the air-fuel ratio cylinders, it is difficult to detect abnormality of the fuel injection valve.
The present invention has been made to solve the above-described problems. The turbocharger, the waste gate valve that opens and closes the exhaust bypass passage that bypasses the turbine, and the exhaust bypass passage and the exhaust passage join together. In the case of providing an air-fuel ratio sensor disposed in the exhaust passage downstream of the part, it is possible to improve the detectability of the abnormality of the fuel injection valve without having to provide a sensor for detecting the opening degree of the waste gate valve. An object of the present invention is to provide an abnormality determination device for an internal combustion engine.

When the forced imbalance state is generated by the first process in which the air-fuel ratio is made rich or lean as the specific cylinder, the second imbalance determining means sets the first parameter to the forced imbalance. When it is determined that there is a cylinder that does not show a change according to the state, and one of the plurality of cylinders is sequentially set as the specific cylinder, the air-fuel ratio is leaned in the opposite direction to the first process. Alternatively, when the forced imbalance state is generated by the second process richly deviated, the second parameter is determined by the second imbalance determination unit. When the it is determined that there is forced in no change in response to a balanced condition cylinder, and judging an abnormality in the fuel injection valve occurs.
The second invention is the first invention, wherein
The abnormality determining unit is a case where the first imbalance determining unit determines that an air-fuel ratio imbalance has not occurred between the plurality of cylinders, and sequentially selects any one of the plurality of cylinders. When the forced imbalance state is generated by the first process as the specific cylinder, and there is a cylinder in which the first parameter does not change according to the forced imbalance state, the second imbalance The second parameter is determined when the forced imbalance state is caused by the second process with any of the plurality of cylinders as the specific cylinder, when the forced imbalance state is generated. If the second imbalance determining means determines that a change corresponding to the forced imbalance state is present, an abnormality occurs in the waste gate valve. And characterized in that to determine that.
The third invention is the first or second invention, wherein
The abnormality determining unit is a case where the first imbalance determining unit determines that an air-fuel ratio imbalance has not occurred between the plurality of cylinders, and sequentially selects any one of the plurality of cylinders. When the forced imbalance state is generated by the first processing as the specific cylinder, the second parameter is not changed by the second imbalance determining unit according to the forced imbalance state. And when the forced imbalance state is generated by the second process by sequentially setting any one of the plurality of cylinders as the specific cylinder, the second imbalance state is determined. When it is determined by the balance determination means that there is a cylinder in which the second parameter does not show a change according to the forced imbalance state, the fuel injection valve is different. In addition to the determination to have occurred, characterized in that abnormality in the waste gate valve it is determined that there is a possibility occurring.
Moreover, 4th invention is either 1st-3rd invention,
A rotation speed sensor for detecting the engine rotation speed;
The second parameter is a parameter based on an engine speed detected by the speed sensor.
According to the first aspect of the present invention, even when the abnormality of the fuel injection valve is not detected only by the determination result of the first imbalance determination means, the forced imbalance state in which the air-fuel ratio is varied between rich and lean is used. Based on the determination result, the abnormality of the fuel injection valve can be detected. More specifically, although both the first and second processes cause the air-fuel ratio to be both rich and lean to generate the forced imbalance state, in any forced imbalance state, If changes in the first and second parameters according to the state are not uniform in the plurality of determination target cylinders, it is considered that an abnormality caused by the fuel injection valve has occurred. As described above, according to the present invention, it is possible to improve the detectability of the abnormality of the fuel injection valve without having to provide a sensor for detecting the opening degree of the waste gate valve.
According to the second invention, there is a cylinder in which a change in the first parameter according to the forced imbalance state is not recognized when the forced imbalance state that is rich or lean is generated by the first process. When the forced imbalance state that is lean or rich is generated by the second process, if any change in the second parameter according to the forced imbalance state is recognized in any cylinder, the waste gate valve It is determined that an abnormality has occurred. In this case, it can be determined that the fuel injection valves of all the cylinders can correctly change the fuel injection amount in response to a request for creating a forced imbalance state associated with the second process. Therefore, in this case, due to an abnormality (such as sticking at an intermediate opening) in the waste gate valve, the detectability of the change in the air-fuel ratio is reduced when the first process is performed, and the first Therefore, it can be determined that there is a cylinder in which a change in the air-fuel ratio according to the forced imbalance state associated with this process is not detected. Therefore, in this case, it can be determined that an abnormality has occurred in the waste gate valve. More specifically, the abnormality of the waste gate valve can be detected separately from the abnormality of the fuel injection valve.
Although both the first and second processes cause the air-fuel ratio to be both rich and lean to cause a forced imbalance state, an abnormality corresponding to those states in any forced imbalance state If the change in the determination parameter is not uniform among the plurality of determination target cylinders, it is considered that not only the fuel injection valve is abnormal, but also the waste gate valve may be abnormal. . According to the third invention, it is possible to detect the possibility of such a malfunction of the waste gate valve.
According to the fourth invention, it is possible to accurately detect abnormality of the fuel injection valve and the waste gate valve by using the parameter based on the engine speed detected by the speed sensor as the second parameter.

(Problems related to detection of air-fuel ratio imbalance abnormality between cylinders)
In an internal combustion engine equipped with a WGV, such as the
FIG. 2 is a graph showing the relationship between the A / F difference between cylinders and the WGV opening.
The curve indicated by the “solid line” in FIG. 2 is for a case where the A / F difference between the cylinders is relatively high, and the curve indicated by the “broken line” in FIG. This is for a relatively low case. As shown in these curves, when the WGV opening is at an intermediate opening that is out of a predetermined region near the fully opened opening or near the fully closed opening (hereinafter referred to as “detectable region” of imbalance abnormality) A / F difference decreases. As a result, even if the A / F difference is higher than a predetermined threshold (threshold level) α for detecting an imbalance abnormality in the detectable region (solid line), the imbalance abnormality is detected at the intermediate opening. Can no longer be detected. This is because the ratio of the exhaust gas amount from the WG and the exhaust gas amount from the turbine is within a certain range at the intermediate opening, so that it mixes with the exhaust gas from other cylinders at the position where the air-fuel ratio sensor is provided. This is because the influence is great. On the other hand, when the WGV opening is controlled in a detectable region near the fully closed or fully opened opening, the exhaust gas from the turbine is mainly used in the former case, and the exhaust gas from the WG is mainly used in the latter case. Therefore, it is not easily affected by mixing. For this reason, by using the vicinity of the fully closed position or the fully opened position, it is possible to ensure better detectability of the imbalance abnormality as compared with the case where the WGV opening is at the intermediate position.
However, when an abnormality occurs in which the WGV is fixed at an intermediate opening, when the WGV is controlled in the vicinity of the fully closed or fully opened position in order to detect an imbalance abnormality while ensuring high detectability. Actually, the WGV cannot be controlled to be fully closed or near the fully open position. In an internal combustion engine that does not include a sensor for detecting the WGV opening, such as the
[Characteristic abnormality determination method in Embodiment 1]
Therefore, in the present embodiment, in order to improve the detectability of the abnormality of the
FIG. 3 is a diagram for explaining an abnormality determination method according to the first embodiment of the present invention.
In this embodiment, the abnormality determination is performed in an operation region in which the WGV opening is assumed to be controlled within the detectable region (the air-fuel ratio of all cylinders is controlled to the same target air-fuel ratio (for example, the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio)). Is executed in the normal state).
Specifically, first, it is determined whether the A / F difference (ΔA / F) between the cylinders described above in the normal state is higher than a predetermined threshold value α. As a result, when ΔA / F> α is satisfied (in FIG. 3, “normal A / F difference” becomes abnormal), it is determined that the pattern (3) in FIG. 3 is satisfied. In pattern (3), it is determined that an abnormality (imbalance abnormality) of the
When an A / F difference larger than the threshold value α is not detected in the above normal state, the air-fuel ratio of a specific cylinder (one in the present embodiment) that is changed in order is changed to the other cylinder (here, In order to produce a rich forced imbalance state that is richly deviated compared to the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio), the fuel injection amount of each cylinder is actively controlled in order to obtain a rich air-fuel ratio from the remaining cylinders. (Rich processing). Then, it is determined for each cylinder whether or not the A / F difference becomes larger than the threshold value α while causing the rich forced imbalance state to occur in order in each cylinder. As a result, when an A / F difference larger than the threshold value α is detected in all the cylinders of the
On the other hand, when the rich process is executed, if there is a cylinder (a part or all of the cylinders) in which an A / F difference larger than the threshold value α is not detected, that is, a change in the air-fuel ratio according to the rich forced imbalance state. In the case where there is a cylinder in which no is detected, a lean process is performed in which a specific cylinder is sequentially put into a lean forced imbalance state, contrary to the rich process. Then, it is determined for each cylinder whether or not the deviation ΔNe of the engine speed is larger than a predetermined threshold β while causing the lean forced imbalance state to occur in order for each cylinder. As a result, when a deviation ΔNe larger than the threshold value β is detected in all cylinders of the
Further, as described above, when the lean process is executed subsequent to the rich process, if there is a cylinder (part or all cylinders) in which the deviation ΔNe larger than the threshold β is not detected, that is, the lean forced imbalance state In the case where there is a cylinder in which the fluctuation of the engine speed corresponding to the engine is not detected, it is determined that it corresponds to the pattern (4) in FIG. More specifically, in the pattern (4), although the rich forced imbalance state and the lean forced imbalance state are generated in order, the change in accordance with both of these forced imbalance states shows an A / F difference. When neither of the deviations ΔNe occurs uniformly in all cylinders, it is determined that an abnormality (imbalance abnormality) of the

In the routine shown in FIG. 4, first, the deviation ΔA / F (A / F difference) is the threshold value α in a normal state where the air-fuel ratios of all the cylinders are controlled to the same target air-fuel ratio (for example, the theoretical air-fuel ratio). Is determined (step 100). As a result, when the determination of
On the other hand, if it is determined in
As a result, if it is determined in
Next, it is determined whether or not the variable n is a value obtained by adding 1 to the number of cylinders (4 in the case of the internal combustion engine 10) (step 114). If the processes of
If it is determined in
On the other hand, if the determination in
As a result, if it is determined in
Next, it is determined whether or not the variable n is a value obtained by adding 1 to the number of cylinders (step 130). As a result, when the determination of
If it is determined in
On the other hand, if the determination in
According to the routine shown in FIG. 4 described above, even if the determination of ΔA / F (A / F difference) in the normal state (step 100) is not performed, an abnormality in air-fuel ratio imbalance between cylinders is not detected. Based on the determination result of ΔA / F and ΔNe in the rich and lean forced imbalance states, the presence or absence of abnormality of the fuel injection valve 26 (air-fuel ratio imbalance among cylinders) and the presence or absence of abnormality of the
Further, according to the above routine, ΔNe is used together with ΔA / F as the abnormality determination parameter. Unlike ΔA / F calculated using the air-
By the way, in the first embodiment described above, after the imbalance detection using ΔA / F in the normal state, the determination in the rich forced imbalance state is performed, and then the determination in the lean forced imbalance state is performed. ing. However, the execution order of the determination in the forced imbalance state in the present invention is not limited to the above, and conversely, the abnormality determination is performed in the order of the lean forced imbalance state and then the rich forced imbalance state. May be implemented. Further, the execution order of the imbalance detection using the A / F in the normal state and the determination in the first rich or lean forced imbalance state may be reverse to the above.
