Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a discharge device and a method for discharging a droplet onto a target by the discharge device.
The technology (patterning technology) for applying and / or drawing by ejecting droplets containing paints such as inks and chemicals such as reagents, using inkjet technology developed as a printing device, is used for video devices such as printing and liquid crystal. It is used in various fields such as manufacturing and manufacturing of semiconductors including DNA chips, or its use is under consideration. When discharging various droplets to the target, it is important to discharge the droplets in a stable state. For example, a highly reproducible discharge result can be obtained by discharging a highly viscous droplet in a stable state.
One aspect of the present invention includes a discharge unit that discharges droplets from a nozzle opening to a target, a removal unit that removes droplets from a passage from the nozzle opening to the target, and a control unit that controls the discharge unit and the removal unit. The control unit is a continuous discharge signal for continuously discharging droplets to the discharge unit, the first discharge signal for main discharge and the first discharge for main discharge. A function of outputting a continuous discharge signal including the second discharge signal before the signal, and a removal stop signal for stopping the removal of the droplet after the second discharge signal has elapsed from the start of discharge by the continuous discharge signal to the removal unit Output function.
In this discharge apparatus, when the control unit receives a main discharge instruction, the control unit outputs a continuous discharge signal obtained by adding the second discharge signal before the first discharge signal for main discharge. And the previous preliminary discharge liquid droplets are continuously discharged without being distinguished. Further, the control unit outputs a removal stop signal after the second ejection signal has elapsed during continuous ejection of droplets, and the removal unit stops the removal of the droplets from the passage from the nozzle opening to the target. Therefore, only the liquid droplets discharged after the discharge unit continues continuous discharge and reaches a steady state reaches the target as the liquid droplets for main discharge.
In this discharge device, some droplets during continuous discharge are automatically changed without changing the state during which the droplets reach the target from the discharge unit, and without making the user aware of the preliminary discharge. Only the droplets for main discharge can be discharged to the target. For this reason, the user can obtain a target to which a droplet ejected in a steady state from the first droplet has arrived. For this reason, the characteristics of the droplets discharged to the target are uniform, and the reproducibility is high. Even droplets with high volatility or highly viscous droplets that are difficult to be ejected are automatically added by the ejection device and automatically performed seamlessly with the main ejection. The main discharge is performed in a stable state from the beginning by the discharge unit that is in a steady state due to the preliminary discharge that is not conscious of.
The removal unit may be capable of removing the droplet from the passage by a method such as laser or droplet collision. The open / close unit that mechanically opens and closes the passage makes it easy to speed up the response and shorten the continuous discharge interval. Therefore, it is easy to deal with droplets whose liquid state such as high viscosity and high volatility fluctuates in a short time.
The removal unit preferably includes an opening / closing unit that opens the passage by a removal stop signal. The opening / closing unit preferably includes a thin-plate shutter that moves from a position to close the passage by a removal stop signal to a position to open.
It is desirable that the shutter includes an opening through which droplets pass, and that the opening opens the passage at the opening position. The shutter includes a droplet collection unit that collects droplets, and it is desirable that the droplet collection unit closes the passage in the closed position. Even if the preliminary discharge amount increases, it is easy to deal with, and main discharge can be executed from the beginning in a more stable state. The maximum thickness of the shutter is desirably 4 mm.
The control unit preferably includes a function of moving the target and the discharge unit relatively without changing the distance of the passage. It is desirable that the discharge device further includes a monitoring unit that recognizes an image of a droplet discharged to the target.
One of the different aspects of the present invention is a method for controlling a discharge device, which discharge device removes droplets from a discharge unit that discharges droplets from a nozzle opening to a target, and a passage from the nozzle opening to the target. And a control unit for controlling the discharge unit and the removal unit. The control method is a continuous discharge signal for continuously discharging droplets to the discharge unit, and for the main discharge. The continuous discharge signal including the second discharge signal before the first discharge signal and the first discharge signal for main discharge is output to the removal unit from the start of discharge by the continuous discharge signal to the second discharge Outputting a removal stop signal for stopping the removal of the droplet after the signal elapses.

The
In FIG. 2, the outline | summary of the process of the
In
In
In this way, when the control information φ is received, the
The dummy discharge operation of discarding ink (droplets) thickened at the nozzle tip (opening) in a conventional printer is performed in a cap installed outside the print area, but after the dummy discharge, it moves to the print area. When printing is performed, the time difference from dummy discharge to print discharge (main discharge) is about 0.2 seconds at the shortest. With a droplet in which thickening occurs in 0.2 seconds, it is difficult to perform stable ejection from the first (first) droplet by conventional dummy ejection. In addition, when performing discharge to form a film, it is necessary to continuously discharge droplets. However, since there is no droplet discharged immediately before the first shot (first droplet), the discharge is affected by the previous discharge. There is a problem in that the discharge state changes from the second (second drop) onward.
In the
In this
In FIG. 3, the
As shown in FIG. 3A, the
As shown in FIG. 3B, the
The three
If the time difference from the discharge end time t2 to the next discharge start time t3 by the first

In this example, when the discharge interval Sn is larger than 5n, the
It is desirable that the interval W2 between the

FIG. 4 shows an outline of the opening /
As shown in FIG. 4A, the
In FIG. 5, the outline | summary of the different opening /
In FIG. 6, the outline | summary of the different opening /
Further, in the
In FIG. 7, the outline | summary of the
